Performance of an Active Channel Scanning Scheme for Fast Handover in Mobile Wireless LAN Systems (이동무선 LAN 시스템의 고속핸드오버를 위해 능동적인 유효채널탐색방식의 성능분석)

  • In this paper, we propose a new Active Channel Scanning scheme by scanning active channels employed by neighbor APs' with the handover counts and non overlap channel information for fast handover. Under the proposed scheme, the mobile which has finished handover to connect a new APsends the neighbor AP's channel information learned by itself during handover to the new AP. And then, the new AP relays the neighbor channel information to the old AP. It decides a priority by handover counts and non overlap channel information for building a Neighbor Channel Table(NCT), and also sends the table information to its associated mobile nodes, periodically. As a result each mobile can scan only active neighbor APs' channels when performs handover based on the referring to NCT information. Using NS-2 Simulator, we applied to supposed ACS that the result of simulation decides to sort by handover counts and non overlap channel information. we evaluate our proposed ACS scheme based on NCT along with the full scanning scheme and the selective scanning scheme. From simulation results, we show that the proposed scheme is advantageous over the other two schemes in terms of the number of scanning channels and the scanning latency.

Development of Double Rotation C-Scanning System and Program for Under-Sodium Viewing of Sodium-Cooled Fast Reactor (소듐냉각고속로 소듐 내부 가시화를 위한 이중회전구동 C-스캔 시스템 및 프로그램 개발)

  • A double rotation C-scanning system and a software program Under-Sodium MultiVIEW have been developed for the under-sodium viewing of a reactor core and in-vessel structures of a sodium-cooled fast reactor KALIMER-600. Double rotation C-scanning system has been designed and manufactured by the reproduction of double rotation plug of a reactor head in KALIMER-600. Hardware system which consists of a double rotating scanner, ultrasonic waveguide sensors, a high power ultrasonic pulser-receiver, a scanner driving module and a multi channel A/D board have been constructed. The functions of scanner control, image mapping and signal processing of Under-Sodium MultiVIEW program have been implemented by using a LabVIEW graphical programming language. The performance of Under-Sodium MultiVIEW program was verified by a double rotation C-scanning test in water.

Effective Point Dataset Removal for High-Speed 3D Scanning Processes (고속 3D 스캐닝 프로세스를 위한 효과적인 점데이터 제거)

  • Recently, many industries are using three dimensional scanning technology. As the performance of the 3D scanner gradually improves, a sampling step to reduce a point data or a remove step to remove a part determined to be noise are generally performed in post processing. However, total point data by long time scanning cannot be processed at once in spite of performing such those additional processes. In general, a method using a multi threaded environment is widely used, but as the scanning process work time increases, the processing performance gradually decreases due to various environmental conditions and accumulated operations. This paper proposes a method to initially remove point data judged to be unnecessary by calculating accumulated fast point feature histogram values from coming point data of the 3D scanner in real time. The entire 3D scanning process can be reduced using this approach.

  • This paper addresses the vibration mode shape Measurement technique utilizing a Continuous Scanning Laser Doppler Vibrometer (CSLDV). The continuous scanning capability is added to the conventional discrete Laser Doppler Vibrometer by reflecting the laser beams on the surface of the object using two oscillating mirrors. The bow scanning resulted from the proposed scanning method is eliminated by feedback control. The velocity output signal from the CSLDV is modulated to give the spatial velocity distribution in terms of coefficients which are obtained from the Fast Fourier Transformation of the time dependent velocity signal. Using the Chebyshev series from, the analysis of the vibration mode shape techniques for straight line scanning and 2 dimensional scanning are presented and discussed.   • This paper focuses on the problem of local obstacle avoidance of mobile robots. To solve this problem, the safety direction section search algorithm is suggested. This concept is mainly composed with non-collision section and collision section from the detecting area of laser scanning sensor. Then, we will search for the most suitable direction in these sections. The proposed local motion planning method is simple and requires less computation than others. An environment model is developed using the vector space concept to determine robot motion direction taking the target direction, obstacle configuration, and robot trajectory into account. Since the motion command is obtained considering motion dynamics, it results in smooth and fast as well as safe movement. Using the mobile base, the proposed obstacle avoidance method is tested, especially in the environment with pillar, wall and some doors. Also, the proposed autonomous motion planning and control algorithm are tested extensively. The experimental results show the proposed method yields safe and stable robot motion through the motion speed is not so fast.

  • Laser scanning is widely used due to its fast measuring and high precision, and the segmentation of the scanned data is necessary for the fast and efficient surface modelling. But most segmentation techniques are based on the very regular data and the adaptation of previous techniques to the scanned data does not usually produce good result. A new approach to perform the segmentation on the scanned data is introduced to deal with problems during reverse engineering process. The approach is based on the triangulated data and its result is depending on the some user-defined criteria. The result is illustrated to demonstrate its adaptability to the measured data on free-form surface and the each result by different criteria is compared respectively.

Research of fast point cloud registration method in construction error analysis of hull blocks

  • The construction quality control of hull blocks is of great significance for shipbuilding. The total station device is predominantly employed in traditional applications, but suffers from long measurement time, high labor intensity and scarcity of data points. In this paper, the Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) device is utilized to obtain an efficient and accurate comprehensive construction information of hull blocks. To address the registration problem which is the most important issue in comparing the measurement point cloud and the design model, an automatic registration approach is presented. Furthermore, to compare the data acquired by TLS device and sparse point sets obtained by total station device, a method for key point extraction is introduced. Experimental results indicate that the proposed approach is fast and accurate, and that applying TLS to control the construction quality of hull blocks is reliable and feasible.

  • Recently, there are growing interests in femto-cell for providing indoor users with various broadband multimedia services more efficiently. The technical issues regarding femto-cell such as interference management, self-organization, and resource allocation are now being intensively studied and investigated by researchers worldwide. In this paper, two novel schemes of neighboring cell list(NCL) management are proposed for the IEEE 802.16e system where a macro-cell and huge number of femto-cells coexist. The proposed schemes, named MS location-based neighboring cell list management and BS type-based neighboring cell list management, enable a mobile station(MS) to perform fast scanning and efficient handover by means of preselecting the candidate target femto-cells with high possibility for handover. The simulation result shows that the proposed schemes improve the MS's handover-related performance in terms of scanning power and scanning time compared with the conventional managements scheme of IEEE 802.16e system.

  • Images were acquired by the modulation of terahertz electromagnetic signals and compared by modulation frequencies. For the real-time acquisition of images a fast scanning method has been adopted utilizing a galvanometer. The acquired time domain waveforms were transformed into frequency domain data by fast Fourier transformations (FFT). We chose some frequency components to compare the resolution of images. The beam profiles at the focal position were measured by a knife-edge technique. Beam diameter was shown to decrease as the frequency increased. By scanning one- and two-dimensional samples a significant image enhancement was observed with the frequency increment. A nondesouctive imaging system using ㎔ electromagnetic pulses was also demonstrated.

  • In magnetic resonance imaging, the fast spin echo imaging technique is a widely used clinical imaging method. since its scanning time is much shorter than the conventional spin echo imaging and it gives the almost same image quality. However, the fast spin echo technique has two times longer imaging time for the dual echo acquisition which can obtain a spin density image and a T-give the same qulity images at the single echo imaging time. T he proposed technique reduces the imaging time by overlapping most of were obtained at the 0.3T permanent MRI system are presented.
