The Near Infrared region of the energy spectrum was first discovered by Hershel in the year 1800. The principles of NIR is based on light absorption of specific organic chemical bonds. The absorption at each wavelength is measured and a spectre is obtained. The spectre is then treated mathematically and with the absorption data is converted to absolute units via a calibration. In the last two decades it has developed dramatically. With the invention of computers and the ability to treat a large amount of data in a very short time the use of NIR for many different purposes has developed very fast. During the last decade with the aid of very powerful PC's the application of NIR technology has become even more widespread. Now or days development of very robust calibrations can be done in a relatively short time with a minimum of resources. The use of Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR) in the Meat industry is relatively new. The first installations were taken into operation in the 80ties. The Meat Industry in often referred to as rather conservative and slow to embrace new technologies, they stay with the old and proven methods. The first NIR instruments used by the Meat Industry, and most other industries, were multipurpose build, which means that the sample presentation was not well suited to this particular application, or many other applications for that sake. As the Meat Industry grows and develops to meet the demands of the modern markets, they realise the need for better control of processes and final products. From the early 90 ties and onward the demand for 'rear time' rapid results starts growing, and some suppliers of NIR instruments (and instruments based on other technologies, like X-ray) start to develop and manufacture instrumentation dedicated to the particular needs of the Meat Industry. Today it is estimated that there are approximately 2000 rapid instruments placed in the Meat industry world-wide. By far most of these are used as at-line or laboratory installations, but the trend and need is moving towards real on-line or in-line solutions. NIR is the most cost effective and reproducible analytical procedure available for the twenty first century.

Nocardiosis is an acute, subacute or chronic infection, which usually introduced through the respiratory tract resulting pneumonia, and may develop a disseminated infection, especially subcutaneous abscess and/or CNS infection. It is usually affects the immunocompromized host and may be fatal unless early diagnosis and adequate treatment are performed. There have been only several case reports of nocardial infection in Korea. Nocardiosis is so unfamiliar to many physicians that may be misdiagnosed as pneumonia, tuberculosis, or neoplasm. We have experienced a case of nocardiosis from a patient who had been treated as pneumonia and tuberculosis at first. The 57-year-old male patient had fever, chill, dyspnea and blood tinged purulent sputum for 20 days. Under the impression of bacterial pneumonia, broad spectrum antibiotics were administered for more than 3 weeks without clinical improvement. Although antituberculous drugs began to be administered after acid fast bacilli were found in bronchial aspirate by bronchoscopy, the nocardial infection was suspected due to no clinical response toward antituberculous therapy and the occurrence of multiple subcutaneous abscesses on scalp. The diagnosis was made by modified Ziehl-Neelson stain and culture of the sputum and pus. Nocardia asteroides was identified. After 25 days of trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole treatment, the patient was much improved and discharged.
The genome of red pepper was investigated by thermal denaturation, reassociation kinetics and measurement of nuclear volume for its base composition, spectrum of kinetic components and genome size. Base composition was estimated to be 37% (G+C) based on melting temperature. The reassociation of 300 nt fragments analyzed by hydroxyapatite chromatography revealed the presence of three kinetic components differing in fraction of genome, kinetic complexity and number of copies as follows; 4.8% (fast) with $5.6{\times}10^{4}\;bp$ and 10,754, 26% (intermediate) with $1.9{\times}10^{6}\;bp$ and 177, and 65% (slow) with $8.48{\times}10^{8}\;bp$ and 1. These measurements demonstrate that the genome of red pepper has a 1C DNA content of $1.25{\times}10^{9}\;bp$, which is about 33% of $4.05{\times}10^{9}\;bp$ calculated from nuclear volume of $62.4\;\mu\textrm{m}^3/1C$..

IGRINS (Immersion GRating Infrared Spectrograph) is a high spectral resolution near-infrared spectrograph that has been developed in a collaboration between the Korea Astronomy & Space Science Institute and the University of Texas at Austin. By using a silicon immersion echelle grating, the size of the fore optics is reduced by a factor of three times and we can make a more compact instrument. One exposure covers the whole of the H- and K-band spectrum with R=40,000. While the operation of and data reduction for this instrument is relatively simple compared to other grating spectrographs, we still need to operate three infrared arrays, cryostat sensors, calibration lamp units, and the telescope during astronomical observations. The IGRINS Instrument Control Software consists of a Housekeeping Package (HKP), Slit Camera Package (SCP), Data Taking Package (DTP), and Quick Look Package (QLP). The SCP will do auto guiding using a center finding algorithm. The DTP will take the echellogram images of the H and K bands, and the QLP will confirm fast processing of data. We will have a commissioning observations in 2014 March. In this poster, we present the performance of the software during the test observations.

This paper introduces the Parallel Advanced Loosely coupled Multiprocessor (PALM) architecture, which is based on HCH(m,p), where m is number of links per a communication processor (CP) and p is the number of application processors (APs) connected to the CP. communication links between a pair of CPs and/or between a CP and an AP, are made of dual-Port RAMs, which provide fast and reliable word-parallel communication between processors. Among the wide spectrum of HCH networks, HCH(m,2) is also known to be a cost optimal topology, such that HCH(m,2) consists of the largest number of APs retaining the minimal number of CPs and communication links. We also implement a testbed based on HCH(2,2). The experiment result shows that the small communication/computation ratio of the PALM system would realize fine-grain parallelism on message-passing MIMD systems.
Analyzed is the sensitivity of reactor transient behavior to various reactor parameters during the reactivity induced accidents (RIA) of the Kori Unit 1. Included in the analysis is a partial spectrum of RIAs with relatively fast transients such as uncontrolled rod cluster control assembly bank withdrawl from a subcritical or low power startup condition and rod ejection accidents. The analysis can be performed generally in three steps: calculation of an average core power change, hot spot heat transfer calculation and DNBR (departure from nucleate boiling ratio) calculation. The computer codes used for the analysis are either developed based on the codes relevent to it. These codes are evaluated to be highly reliable. An extensive sensitivity analysis is performed to study the effects of various reactor design and operating parameters on the reactor transient behavior during the accidents. The assumptions and initial conditions used for the RIA analysis in the Kori Unit 1 FSAR (Final Safety Analysis Report) are reexamined, and the corresponding analysis results are reassessed, based on the sensitivity analysis results, to be conservative and reliable.
Geosynchronous electron flux dropouts are most likely due to fast drift loss of the particles to the magnetopause (or equivalently, the "magnetopause shadowing effect"). A possible effect related to the drift loss is the radial diffusion of PSD due to gradient of PSD set by the drift loss effect at an outer L region. This possibly implies that the drift loss can affect the flux levels even inside the trapping boundary. We recently investigated the details of such diffusion process by solving the diffusion equation with a set of initial and boundary conditions set by the drift loss. Motivated by the simulation work, we have examined observationally the energy spectrum and pitch angle distribution near trapping boundary during the geosynchronous flux dropouts. For this work, we have first identified a list of geosynchronous flux dropout events for 2007-2010 from GOES satellite electron measurements and solar wind pressures observed by ACE satellite. We have then used the electron data from the Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms (THEMIS) spacecraft measurements to investigate the particle fluxes. The five THEMIS spacecraft sufficiently cover the inner magnetospheric regions near the equatorial plane and thus provide us with data of much higher spatial resolution. In this paper, we report some case studies showing energy dependence during magnetopause shadowing effect.

The global trends of mobile communication system is moving toward digitizing, high-speed and large-capacity. Also, to utilize the limited frequency-resource efficiently, spread spectrum system is a mainstream. In this study we are concerning with the fast frequency-hopping system. Instead of the PLL with many problems such as phase-noise, we used the DDS is popular in these days minimizes the disadvantage of PLL. In the case the FFH system is designed using the PLL, it is difficult to be satisfied of the design conditions such as RF badwidth and the settling time of PLL, and it has limitation because of complex circuit by using the balanced modulator. In this study, we evaluated the performance in order to design the FFH system using the DDS. The system that has the improvement of error rate, 1Mhps hopping rate and 5MHz RF bandwidth is designed and evaluated.

A synchronization is important element not only wire communication but also wireless communication. Especially, In SS(Spread Spectrum) communication method used GPS(Global Positioning System) synchronization is more important. A synchronous oscillator(SO) is a network which synchronizes, tracks, filter, amplifies and divides (if necessary) in a single process. Without an input signal, the SO is a free-running oscillator, oscillating at a frequency $w_0$, but phase changes $180^{\circ}$ within tracking range of SO. Therefore CPSO was used for this problem. The coherent phase synchronous oscillator(CPSO) is created by adding two external loops to the SO and has a wider tracking bandwidth and a zero-offset phase response (coherent) while maintaining the SO properties of high signal-to-rejection and fast frequency acquisition times. Therefore phase between input signal and output signal is synchronized. In this paper, GPS data recovery circuit has applied CPSO using front reference characters and has certified an excellent data recovery capability.

Insects possess biological defense systems that can effectively combat the invasion of external microorganisms and viruses, thereby supporting their survival in diverse environments. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) represent a fast-acting weapon against invading pathogens, including various bacterial or fungal strains. A 37-residue antimicrobial peptide, papiliocin, derived from the swallowtail butterfly Papilio xuthus larvae, showed significant antimicrobial activities against several human pathogenic bacterial and fungal strains. Jelleines, isolated as novel antibacterial peptides from the Royal Jelly (RJ) of bees, exhibit broad-spectrum protection against microbial infections. In this study, we developed a novel antimicrobial peptide, PAJE (RWKIFKKPFKISIHL-NH2), which is a hybrid peptide prepared by combining 1-7 amino acid residues (RWKIFKK-NH2) of papiliocin and 1-8 amino acid residues (PFKISIHL-NH2) of Jelleine-1 to alter length, charge distribution, net charge, volume, amphipaticity, and improve bacterial membrane interactions. This novel peptide exhibited increased hydrophobicity and net positive charge for binding effectively to the negatively charged membrane. PAJE demonstrated antimicrobial activity against both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, with very low toxicity to eukaryotic cells and an inexpensive process of synthesis. Collectively, these findings suggest that this novel peptide possesses great potential as an antimicrobial agent.
