1980년대 한국 여성 기성복 광고에 표현된 여성의 이미지 (Female Images Portrayed in Advertisements for Mass-Produced Women's Clothing in the 1980s Korea)

  • This paper examines the advertisements for mass-produced women's clothing, which appeared in the 1980s issues of the fashion magazine Wolganmeot. This study explores the communicative aspect of fashion advertisements of the 1980s as a platform for complex and dynamic interactions between fashion brands, female consumers, and the rapidly changing social, cultural, and economic conditions of the period. The research focuses on advertisements in the formal and character casual categories that targeted young, urban, and career-seeking women. Based on the analysis of the visual and textual elements of the advertisements from a pragmatics perspective, this paper concludes that fashion brands sought to highlight an 'intelligent', 'urban', and 'individualistic' image of women. It also proposes that the prevalence of assertive and straightforward textual elements, copies, indicates the efforts of fashion brands to stabilize and reinforce the advertising messages in the fast-evolving landscapes of the fashion industry and changing consumption habits.

  • This paper examines advertising images of fashion brands in vertical social network site (SNS) from the viewpoints of message strategies. Vertical social network sites are types of social curation systems applied to social networking, where information is selected, organized, and maintained. Fashion brands communicate with consumers by presenting images on vertical SNSs, anticipating improvements in brand image, popularity, and loyalty. Those images portray content for particular brands and seasonal concepts, thus creating paths for product sales information. Marketing via SNSs corresponds to relationship marketing, which refers to long-term interrelationship and value augmentation between the company and consumer, and viral advertising, which relies on word of mouth distribution via social network platforms. Taylor's six-segment message strategy wheel, often used for analyzing viral ads, was applied to conduct a content analysis of the images. A total of 2,656 images of fashion brands advertised on Instagram were selected and analyzed. Results indicated that brand values were somewhat related to the number of followers. Follower rankings and comment rankings were also correlated. In general, fashion brands projected sensory messages most often. Acute need and rational messages were less common than other messages. Sports brands and luxury brands presented sensory messages, whereas fast fashion brands projected routine images most often. 남성의 패션관여상황에 따라 추구하는 자기이미지와 선호 패션스타일 (Preferred Fashion Style based on the Men's Self-image Including Fashion Involved Circumstances)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the self-image of men and the characteristics of their fashion styles, as they are fast becoming an influential consumer group. Men in the thirties and forties who had a higher-than-average interest in fashion were surveyed online and the results from this study are as follows. In terms of variations of self-image connected to situations, we found that there were strong relationships between the preference of the "charming & romantic" image to private meet-ups with acquaintances, "intelligent & classy" to official events, "rational & realistic" to everyday work in an official setting, and "modest & ordinary" to complex situations including family occasions and customary events. Those who aimed for "urban refinement - sensitive" appeal also preferred a "charming & romantic" self-image, while pursuing a "classic & modern" fashion style for official settings and a "gentle & charming" style in private settings. Those who aimed for "stable elegance - intelligent" youth" image preferred the "intelligent & classy" image, while pursuing a "stable & intelligent" fashion style in official settings, and an "intelligent yet active & young" style in private settings. Those who aimed for "rational practicality - comfortable activity" image preferred a "rational & realistic" self-image, while pursuing a "rational & practical" fashion style in official settings, and a "comfortable & active" style in private settings. Those who aimed for "ordinary modesty - plain simplicity"preferred a modest and ordinary self-image, while pursuing an ordinary fashion style, and a simple style in private settings. The various situational assessments used in this study to analyze the fashion-related circumstances for male consumers can be utilized in upcoming studies, and can be an effective indicator of situational consumer preferences in terms of men's fashion marketing and product planning strategies.

  • This study focused on the possibility of Saeng Whal Hanbok's(S.H. moderniged korean traditional cloths) new marketing system with the application of internet marketing. The fast growth and changes of S.H's environment wants renovation in the market. The raerness of data in the field of S.H restricted this research within the future development alternatives not the market itself. Result of the study suggests that internet marketing could applicated in S.H marketing especially to the younger generation.

  • Modern society is a multi-cultural consumer society, and there are multiple trends to cater to the tastes of diverse consumers with different sociocultural background. To grasp fashion trends in fast-changing society, how consumer life is changing and what sort of trend is prevailing should be understood above all. A major fashion trend keeps on changing in every season, and that is an extensive and compound measure of what affects the lives and values of cultural receivers who take the lead in it. The purpose of this study was to delve into what sorts of trends were presented in the 21st century's different cultures, how those cultures were reflected in fashion trends, and how design elements predicted by fashion trends could serve as the sources of design that could create a new fashion. The findings of the study were as follows: First of all, the theories of popular culture and trends were reviewed to describe how general receivers found meaning and delight in the products of cultural industry in their own way and how the products were converted into diverse cultural media. Secondly, consumer styles were discussed by classifying consumers into six groups, twixter, duppie, Ubi-Nomad, NONOS, LOHAS and chav, who were generated by changing cultural codes. Thirdly, sociocultural trends and consumer changes brought a lot of diverse changes to fashion trends. The visual materials about the 2005 S/S, F/W Collection were examined to track how changing trends affected fashion style.

Western Influences on Young Women's Fashion in South Korea in the 1970s

  • The purposes of this study were to examine young women's fashion and their values in South Korea in the 1970s and to explore the dynamics of how the changes in values affected fashion. Fifteen Korean women who were college students in the 1970s were interviewed. With industrialization and acculturation to Western customs in the 1970s, Korean women's fashion reflected the permeation of new ideas and behaviors into the culture. New ideas of 'pursuing a career' or 'gaining professional success' rooted in the women's movement were most important and were reflected in the prevalence of casual and comfortable styles. However, 'having a good husband and being a good wife' was also important. In addition to the transition in gender roles, Korea was fast moving from a collectivist to an individualistic society and underwent the process of melding traditional and newly-adopted values in their acculturation to the West. This study helps us better understand Korea's acculturation process through dress and the dynamics involved between fashion and value changes.

재즈(Jazz) 이미지를 응용한 패션 디자인 (Fashion Design Applying Jazz Image)

  • Jazz derived from the blacks' work songs and made the frame of Jazz reaching blues and finally arrived at the recent time propagating itself as not only the blacks' music but all human being's music. This study has a purpose to suggest the Jazz image to the fashion design by examining the historical trace of Jazz which is one of popular music received by hearing sense. As for the result of the Jazz's effects by age, rhythmical beauty stressing dresses were in fashion by dance enjoying women in 1920's and dresses giving a mature atmosphere set the fashion in 1930's. in the beginning of 1990's, newly emerging Jazz was reflected to the popular culture along with the historical mode's fashion in the general society. The design's decided with two themes of Jazz Classic and Neo Fusion to modernly and naturally express the pursuit of strong color contrast which associated fast rhythm and lax image such as the counter melody of smooth Jazz. In that result, Jazz image with auditory feelings could suggest the various design motive and new idea to fashion design.

소비자의 프로슈머 성향이 인터넷 패션사이트의 구전효과에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Consumer's Prosumer Propensity on the WOM Effect of Fashion Website)

  • Compared to off-line, on-line word-of-mouth has fast dissemination speed and extensive effects based on interactive features. Moreover, in the age of Web 2.0, on-line media has made consumers evolve from simple purchasers to producers, who intervene into product manufacturing through on-line WOM. According to this, this study is conducted to clarify how consumer's prosumer propensity affects WOM in detail when purchasing fashion products on-line through website interactivity and perceived usefulness of WOM. The results are as follows. 1. Consumer's prosumer propensity is classified in four dimensions: the propensity to participate, the propensity to relate, the propensity to amuse and the propensity to create. 2. The sample has shown low prosumer propensity overall, and there were no gender differences. 3. Testing structural equation model, it was clarified that the higher the consumer's prosumer propensity, the higher the consumer's evaluation of website interactivity and thus the greater the WOM effect through its perception of usefulness. 4. There were some differences in the path of structural equation model according to consumer's prosumer propensity. From the results, it can be concluded that consumer's prosumer propensity is a key factor in the on-line WOM. Therefore fashion businesses should actively utilize consumer's prosumer propensity to apply their opinion in the product planning stage or use it as the means of company-friendly viral marketing.

사회적 관점에 의한 슬로 패션의 특성과 미적 가치 (The Characteristics and Aesthetic Values of Slow Fashion from a Social Viewpoint)

  • Slow fashion can be viewed as an activism that provides an alternative solution to the problematic issues of fast fashion in a practical sense; however, (from a theoretical point of view) it is a fashion phenomenon arising from the criticism of an accelerating society. Slowness emphasizes the virtues of moderation. Slowness refers to the recovery of human ethics that have been neglected due to the goal-oriented nature of an accelerating society. Slowness can solve the problem of conformity and discrimination in society through pluralism and respect for local indigenousness. The characteristics of slow fashion can be defined by the aesthetic values of circularity, sustainability, moderation, expressivity and convergence. This includes the beauty of circularity (which views the relationships of all processes as organic), the beauty of sustainability (which ensures the maintenance of continuous emotions and the durability of products that can be promoted through slow processes), the beauty of moderation (which places importance on spiritual values and the moderate use of materials), and the beauty of expressivity (which plays the role of a social messenger that facilitates social assertion). These combined values present the beauty of convergence such as the harmony of local communities and the world in a blend of the old and the new with an exchange between producers and consumers.

패션콘텐츠 미디어 환경 예측을 위한 해외 SPA 브랜드의 SNS 언어 네트워크 분석 (Estimating Media Environments of Fashion Contents through Semantic Network Analysis from Social Network Service of Global SPA Brands)

  • This study investigated the semantic network based on the focus of the fashion image and SNS text utilized by global SPA brands on the last seven years in terms of the quantity and quality of data generated by the fast-changing fashion trends and fashion content-based media environment. The research method relocated frequency, density and repetitive key words as well as visualized algorithms using the UCINET 6.347 program and the overall classification of the text related to fashion images on social networks used by global SPA brands. The conclusions of the study are as follows. A common aspect of global SPA brands is that by looking at the basis of text extraction on SNS, exposure through image of products is considered important for sales. The following is a discriminatory aspect of global SPA brands. First, ZARA consistently exposes marketing using a variety of professions and nationalities to SNS. Second, UNIQLO's correlation exposes its collaboration promotion to SNS while steadily exposing basic items. Third, in the case of H&M, some discriminatory results were found with other brands in connectivity with each cluster category that showed remarkably independent results.
