  • Targeting people returning to farming and also people preparing for returning to farming, this study analyzed differences in awareness of conflict factors and conflict management focusing on the conflicts experiencing in the process of their movement and settlement process in rural area. In the results, people preparing for returning to farming showed higher awareness of conflicts and also higher necessity of conflict management than people already returning to farming. Also, both groups preferred individual conflict management to structural conflict management. Based on the results like above, the implications can be summarized like below. First, it would be necessary to have programs informing possible conflicts in advance in the process of returning to farming and also relieving psychological anxiety by providing prior-learning to people preparing for returning to farming. Second, it would be necessary to have individual conflict management measures to establish mutual trust and to form community spirit through regular social gatherings between original residents and people returning to farming. Since the effect of conflict management can be maximized only when the structural and individual conflict managements are properly harmonized, it would be necessary to have the structural conflict management which is relatively felt difficult.

  • The objective of this paper is to propose rural housing planning guidelines by conducting a survey on the needs of the elderly people engaged in farming activities and looking into complaints about their houses targeting 120 people from 50s to 70s. The method employed was a survey with questionnaires. The survey results showed the needs of the elderly for the rural housing are different from those of general retired elderly people because they still engage in farming activities even if they grow old. The needs are as follows. First, the respondents show high preference for the foyer storage to store equipments and goods related to agriculture. Second, the respondents have needs for enough kitchen area accommodating their house work and rural life. Lastly, the respondents highly prefer well planned storehouses in the exterior. In addition, they also want the storehouses directly connected with the house because this plan can save their workforce. They recognize storehouses are the most poorly planned space in the rural house because of the unsatisfactory space area and interior space planning. These needs should be reflected on the planning of rural housing for the elderly engaged in farming activities.

  • A model is developed for estimating optimal cultivation areas for apples to maximize the total profit of apple farming by region, focusing on Gyeongsangbuk-do, Chungchungbuk-do, Gyeongsangnam-do, and Jeonllabuk-do in Korea. Comparing the current cultivation areas to the optimal areas according to the model estimation during the period 1999 - 2019, the former has exceeded the latter since 2015 in all regions except for Jeonllabuk-do. This result stems from a lack of the regulation of production quantity among apple producers' regional organizations. Accordingly, the decreasing rate of the market price was greater than the increasing rate of the production quantity, and the total profit of apple farming has fallen in conjunction with increasing agricultural wage rates. Therefore, in order to reverse the current decreasing trend in the profits of apple farming, it is necessary to regulate nationwide apple cultivation areas through regional producers' associations. Ex-ante forecasting for 2019 posits the following regional optimal cultivation areas for maximizing the total income from apple farming. The Gyeongbuk apple producers' association needs to reduce its current cultivation area by 1,089 ha and to maintain 18,373 ha. In the Chungbuk region, current cultivated area should be reduced by 1,027 ha to maintain 2,722 ha, and in the Gyeongnam region, the current cultivated area should be reduced by 582 ha to maintain 2,730 ha. In contrast, the Jeonbuk region needs to increase its current cultivation area by 174 ha and to maintain at a level of 2,872 ha.

The 503 dairy cows at the 21 farming household were conducted from May to December 1992, 307 cows were from January to December 1993 The results obtained are summarized as follows 1. Evaluation of neutralized antibody titer of 810 dairy cows tested during two yews revealed that 68.1% (552 hearts) , during the four year revealed that 69.6% (350 heads), the later year was 65.8%(202 heads ) was more than antibody titer 16. 2. Antibody investigation according to area and years, showed no significant difference in the whole area and both years as 65-73% from 1992, and as 65-70% from 1993 had an antibody titer of above 16 or more. 3. Antibody investigation according to age, showed that 34.4% of cows aged below 2 had a titer of above 16, compared with 80.8% for cows aged above 5. It demonstrated that the younger cows had the lower titer level, and the older the higher. 4. Monthly variation of antibody titer showed that the highest level of antibody titer was observed in September, the lowest was in June. It meant that the best periods of vaccination were April, May, June. 5. The result of epidemidogical study to 40 farming households showed that 35 farms (87.5%) had abortions of which were 14 stillbirths, 5 abnormal births, and 13 farms (32.5%) had vaccination.

  • This study was to analyze changes of landuse and environmental value of cultivate land for eight years from 1999 to 2007 year in greenbelt area, Seoul. Greenbelt area decreased from $166.82\;km^2$ in 1999 to $156.50\;km^2$ in 2007 according to removal policy. Regarding landuse status in 2007, forest field area accounted for 64.16 %, dry paddy area 4.10 %, facilitated farming area 3.82 %, rice paddy area 2.95 % out of total greenbelt area. Cultivate land occupied wide spaces with dry paddy area, facilitated farming area, tree nursery in Seocho-gu, Gangnam-gu and Gangdong-gu. Changes of landuse were serious in Seocho-gu. The trend of changes of landuse for eight years is that rice paddy area was changed dry paddy area by laying the ground and dry paddy area was changed facilitated farming area for intensive agriculture. Rice paddy area could change without permission by laying the ground in below 50 cm height and it was changed to green houses due to increase in profit and modern policy of agriculture. It is nessary to monitor landuse regularly, improve regulation for change of landuse, compensate a property loss for maintaining environmental value in greenbelt area.

According to total hours of diagnosis and treatment of subjects, 51.2% were within 30min. and cases of non-trauma disease were 68.2%. 6. According to degree of emergency of emergency patients, non-emergency cases were 65.3%, urgent cases 27.7% and emergency cases 7.0% and 74.2% of patients returned home after first aid and 20.6% of them hospitalized. In conclusion, characteristics and diversification of patients should be examined and efforts by government and local medical institutions which must organize emergency system and facility and personnel levels suitable to regional conditions are needed in order to prevent overcrowding of emergency center of the tertiary hospital and activate local emergency center.
