  • It is necessary to have farm extension service of organic farming method to the farmers. At the same time, most of people should also trust organic farmer's effort as well as quality of organic products. The adminitration should support to expand organic farming method in the future. There is very close relationship between increasing level of income and organic farming methods.

농식품 수출조직화 방안에 대한 수출업체 의식 연구 (The exporter's attitude on the coordination of agro-food export in Korea)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide basic information on exporter's coordination methods from the attitude of agro-food exporters. The implications are; Firstly, most of exporters believe that the agro-food export raises farmer's competitiveness rather than it does the farmhouse's income increase. Secondly, The stabilization of the farm-gain income by exporting agricultural products are most important in order to reinforce the cohesion between farmers and exporters. Thirdly, the exporters intend to participate in establishing and operating a large-scale producers' organization and marketing company under export polices. So, it is necessary that the government drive to coordinate the exporters and producers.

생산자조직 단위 친환경농업 경영실태에 대한 분석 (A Case Study on Management Situations of Environment-friendly Farming of a Producers' Organization)

  • This case study surveyed management situations of environmentally friendly farming(EFF) producers' organization and their main activities. Farmers are aging as an average age of 55-year old and producing fruit-bearing vegetables. The EFF did not increase farmer's income, however, price and income was stabilized more than that of conventional farming because of contract farming. Farm household liabilities are caused by purchasing agricultural machinery, materials and so on. Farmers of EFF have been also cultivating conventional farming, but they don't plan much conversion intention of conventional farming into EFF owing to lack of differentiated and stable market for their EFF products. And they are guessing that EFF income will increase a little. For increasing of EFF income, they think that it is necessary to reduce production cost, produce high quality production, develop processing foods, enlarge contract farming and so on.

여성농업인의 농업활동 증명을 위한 생활일지 개발 (Developing a Diary Designed for Woman Farmer's Time Use to Prove Farm Work)

  • 여성농업인이 결코 남성보다 적지 않게 농업에 종사하고 있으며, 농가소득에 기여를 함에도 노동에 대한 가치가 인정되지 않고 있다. 농업주종사 여성의 82% 이상이 농업농촌기본법상의 '연간 90일 이상 농업에 종사'하여 실제 농업인이지만, 이를 증명하기 곤란한 상태이다. 이러한 농업인 증명의 어려움으로 정부 정책 및 제도, 상재해 보험 보상시 여성농업인 노동에 대한 가치가 반영되지 못하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 개인의 기록이 법정에서 증거자료로 인정된 사례와 법률관계자 자문에 따라 실제 농업에 종사하나 증명이 곤란한 여성 등 가족종사자의 농업인 증명이 가능한 생활일지를 개발하였다. 생활일지 사용자의 편리성을 향상을 위한 현장적용 시험 결과에서 생활일지 기록 습관은 회계관리, 경영활동 및 효율적인 시간관리 등 여성의 전문농업경영 능력을 향상 시킬 수 있을 것으로 나타났다. 실제 농업종사자를 직업인 인정이 가능한 법으로 정비되고 제도적 지원이 더 궁극적인 목표이지만, 현실적으로 농업인 범위에서 제외되는 농업종사자를 위한 지위인정 방안이 시급히 마련되어야 한다는 측면에서 생활일지 개발의 의미가 있는 것이다. 이러한 생활일지의 목적이 실생활에서 반영되어 여성농업인의 노동을 증명하는 자료로써 활용해야 할 것이며, 적극적으로 판례를 만들어가는 노력이 필요할 것이다. 더불어 이러한 생활일지 기록활동은 경제활동 주체로서의 자기인식과 농업경영과 관련된 지식 및 자료의 축적에 도움을 제공함으로써, 여성 농업인의 농업경영능력 향상에 기여를 할 것으로 기대된다.

대만의 양돈산업 (Pig Industry in Taiwan)

  • Pig industry has been one of the most important sector in Taiwan since 1970s, and produce one fourth of the agricultural income. The industry has made great improvements in breeding, raising and quality production while marketing and processing have interrelated efficiently with production. As one of the mayor factor to the present success, cooperative research and extension has been institutionalized among the government agencies, farmer`s associations and research institutions, inter-linked with the farmer`s problem-solving process. At present, the industry is seeking an appropriate strategy and measures to upgrade the pollution control and cost efficiency in production. This paper reviewed an industry case historically in Taiwan in order to draw the implications to the emerging farm sector in which international competitiveness and quality improvement are to be considered.

주암댐 주변지역의 친환경농업 실태와 발전방안 (Developing Strategies of Environmental-Friendly Agriculture Around the Chuam Dam)

  • The objectives of this study are to find out, the fact-analysis of environmental friendly farm households around the Chuam Dam through the sample survey, 2) the developing strategies to improve the EPA on the assumption that is the conservation of Chuam Dam's water quality. The data used in this study comes from 75 sample farm households. The developing strategies to improve the EPA around Chuam Dam was found out that the efficiency measure of land utilization around CImam Dam, producing of high quality and safety agricultural products, promoting of the EPA connected with tourist agriculture, improving of the EPA products and supporting of price and income. In conclusion, there must be strategic measures to increase the income of environmental friendly farmers and to conserve the Chuam Dam's water quality.

Status of Agroforestry Outside in Forest Area of Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh) and Constraints for Non Adoption

  • Agroforestry is emerged as climate smart agriculture system and known to help in maintaining soil nutrient sustainability but its rate of expansion is still not appreciable. The present paper incorporates the different species under various agroforestry practices its density, growth and growing stock. The most dominated agroforestry practices in Bilaspur district identified as boundary tree based agri- silviculture (32%) followed with inside field tree based agri-silviculture (21%). Agri-horti-silvicultural system found merely in 5% farmer's field while silvo-pastoral practice in 8% fields. The result depicts that the most prevailing agroforestry tree species in non-forest area of Bilaspur comprises Acacia nilotica 36%, Butea monosperma 22%, Albizia spp 16%, Terminalia arjuna 7%, Azadirachta indica 3.5% and other species 15.5%. More than 90% farmer allows tree species growing naturally in their fields mainly for fuel wood, timber and as source of additional income as these species need not require special attention and care, while only 5% farmer's has adopted Tectona grandis, Dalbergia sissoo etc commercially for higher future return. The paper also discusses the constraints on agroforestry for enabling development of agroforestry in future.

전라남도 농촌주민의 농기구 및 농기계 사고에 대한 실태조사 (A Study on Farming Tool-Machinery Injuries in Chonnam Province)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the incidence and related factors of farming tool-machinery injuries developed in the Chonnam rural area in 1992. A total of 9,068 persons (4,571men and 4,497women)were selected in a stratified cluster sampling manner, and interviewed individually to complete a structured questionnaire covering farmer characteristics, duration of farm working, annual income, kind of farming tools and machinery, type of injuries and medical care. The results were as follows : 1. The incidence rate of farming tool-machinery injuries was 63 per 1,000 persons over all, 73 in males and 54 in females. The age standardized incidence rate was 69 per 1,000 persons over all, 83 in males and 65 in females. 2. The associated factors with farming tool-machinery injuries in univariate analysis were sex, age, duration of farming and monthly income. The occurrence of injuries was higher in men than in woman, and the higher in high-income group than in the low-income group. 3. More men than woman were involved in trunk injuries and treated at the large scale medical care units such as hospitals, and they paid much higher medical fees. 4. The complaint rates for each item of farmers' syndrome in the injured group were higher than those of the non injured group in 'shoulder stiffness', 'sleeplessness', 'dizziness', and 'gastric fullness'. 5. When multiple logistic regression was applied to farming tool-machinery injuries, the significant variables were farmer's syndrome, age, and duration of farming in both males and females.

고구마 연작장해 경감을 위한 바이러스 무병묘 재배와 심토반전 효과 (Effect of Virus-free Plant and Subsoiling Reversion Soil for Reduction of Injury by Continuous Cropping of Sweet Potato)

  • 고구마의 연작장해를 경감시키기 위하여, 연작지 토양과 심토반전 토양에서 농가묘와 바이러스 무병묘를 $70{\times}25cm$ 간격으로 재배하였다. 연작지 토양의 시비량은 $N-P_2O_5-K_2O$ = 55-63-156$kg\;ha^{-1}$과 우분퇴비 10$ton\;ha^{-1}$으로 표준시비를 하였고, 심토반전 토양은 질소비료와 퇴비만을 50% 증시하였다. 삽식 30, 120일째의 생육과 수량 및 품질특성을 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 삽식 30일경부터 농가묘에서는 바이러스 병징이 뚜렷하였으나, 무병묘에서는 나타나지 않았다. 2. 무병묘의 수량성은 농가묘보다 심토반전 토양 15.0%, 연작지 10.5%의 증가를 보였다. 3. 심토반전 토양에서의 수량성은 연작지보다 농가묘 8.8%, 무병묘 3.2%의 증가를 보였으며, 심토반전 토양에서 바이러스 무병묘 재배는 상저비율이 농가묘(60.1%) 대비 80%로 높아져 경제성이 있었다. 4. 무병묘에서 수확한 고구마의 품질은 농가묘보다 피색이 선명하고, 고구마 모양이 좋아져 외관 품질향상에도 유리하였다. 5. 심토반전 토양 및 무병묘에서 수량증가는 30일째 엽수와 120일째 분지수와 정의 상관관계(p=0.05)가 인정되었으며, 이는 고구마 괴근형성에 초기생육이 중요하다는 것을 보여주었다.

친환경 농업기술의 발전방향 (Prospective of Sustainable Agriculture in Korea)

  • Over the last three decades, Korean farming system has been directed to maximum agricultural production and to increase farmer's income through adoption of high-yielding crop varieties and high input of agrochemicals . These farming practices have resulted in problems of water-quality deterioration, soil degradation , and food safety. At present, over 40 million tones of animal waste are bing produced annually, which amounts to disposing the waste at the annual rate of 20 tones per ha in the total area of farming land in Korea. Nearly a half of total available water resources is used as irrigation water predominantly for rice paddy field. Thus, non-point source contamination of the water resources has been linked to agriculture across the nation. However, the extent to which agriculture contributes to the water quality is not fully known. Recently, Korean government provided various institutional measures to reduce the negative impacts of agricultural practices on the environ ental quality, and the Agricultural Environment Act was also passed by the legislature in 1998 and became effective January 1999. This Act does not cover the broad spectrum of the sustainable agriculture ; thus, the limited incentives within this Act are arguably ineffective to control the non-point source pollution. Recently new bulk blending of fertilizers(BB fertilizer) are bing produced (100, 000 tones in 1998) with Government subsidies. The BB fertilizers are to balance N-P-K ratio in the soils . Although the use of the BB fertilizers are encouraged with Government subsidies, non-point source pollution is still serious and will become worse. Precision farming is regarded as a new means for sustainable agriculture. It is a new technology that modifies the existing techniques and incorporates new one such as GIS, GPS , differential applicator to produce a new set of tools for the farmer to use. Precision farming, however, has constraints for individual farming practices. For exam le , farm size or parcel unit of each farmer is too small to adopt the precision agriculture on farmhouse-hold bases and farmer's ability to adopt the new technology is limited. However, it would be appropriate to establish local or regional cooperatives to operate such a precision farming system. It is recommended that Government provide sufficient incentives to help establish local and/or regional cooperatives.
