This study was to provide basic data for aquatic ecosystem research using fishes. Field sampling was carried out at five selected sites of Gap Stream, and fish samples, especially for a selection of sentinel species were collected three times in June, September, and October 2007. We analyzed total length distribution of Zacco platypus in relation with the season and the sampling sites, and then compared with total body weight, condition factor (K), and age distribution of the fish. The fish population data were compared with physico-chemical water quality, obtained from the Ministry of Environment, Korea. Water quality analysis showed a significant nutrient enrichment, based on total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP), and organic matter pollution, based on biological oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) in the Site 5, which is directly influenced by wastewater disposal plant (WDP). Population analysis of the sentinel species showed that the total number of individuals, age distribution, and the population size-structure were influenced by the effluents from the WDP, and that reproductive failure of young-age population were evident in Site 5. According to the relation analysis of total weight to K, the disturbed population was mainly attributed to combined effects of habitat modifications and chemical degradations. Regression analysis of K values against water quality parameters showed significant (p<0.05) positive relations with nutrient and organic matter contents. Our data suggest that the population structure using a sentinel fish species reflected the ambient water quality in the stream and that diagnosis of aquatic ecosystem health using Z. platypus population may be practical for water resource and ecosystem conservations.
PURPOSE. To investigate the microtensile bond strength between two all-ceramic systems; lithium disilicate glass ceramic and zirconia core ceramics bonded with their corresponding glass veneers. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Blocks of core ceramics (IPS e.max$^{(R)}$ Press and Lava$^{TM}$ Frame) were fabricated and veneered with their corresponding glass veneers. The bilayered blocks were cut into microbars; 8 mm in length and $1mm^2$ in cross-sectional area (n = 30/group). Additionally, monolithic microbars of these two veneers (IPS e.max$^{(R)}$ Ceram and LavaTM Ceram; n = 30/group) were also prepared. The obtained microbars were tested in tension until fracture, and the fracture surfaces of the microbars were examined with fluorescent black light and scanning electron microscope (SEM) to identify the mode of failure. One-way ANOVA and the Dunnett's T3 test were performed to determine significant differences of the mean microtensile bond strength at a significance level of 0.05. RESULTS. The mean microtensile bond strength of IPS e.max$^{(R)}$ Press/IPS e.max$^{(R)}$ Ceram ($43.40{\pm}5.51$ MPa) was significantly greater than that of Lava$^{TM}$ Frame/Lava$^{TM}$ Ceram ($31.71{\pm}7.03$ MPa)(P<.001). Fluorescent black light and SEM analysis showed that most of the tested microbars failed cohesively in the veneer layer. Furthermore, the bond strength of Lava$^{TM}$ Frame/Lava$^{TM}$ Ceram was comparable to the tensile strength of monolithic glass veneer of Lava$^{TM}$ Ceram, while the bond strength of bilayered IPS e.max$^{(R)}$ Press/IPS e.max$^{(R)}$ Ceram was significantly greater than tensile strength of monolithic IPS e.max$^{(R)}$ Ceram. CONCLUSION. Because fracture site occurred mostly in the glass veneer and most failures were away from the interfacial zone, microtensile bond test may not be a suitable test for bonding integrity. Fracture mechanics approach such as fracture toughness of the interface may be more appropriate to represent the bonding quality between two materials.

Non-Deformable Support System (NDSS) is one of the support system analysis methods. It is likely seen as numerical analysis. Obviously, numerical modeling is the key tool for this system but not unique. Although the name of the system makes you feel that there is no deformation on the support system, it is not true. The system contains some deformation but in certain tolerance determined by the numerical analyses. The important question is what is the deformation tolerance? Zero deformation in the excavation environment is not the case, actually. However, deformation occurred after supporting is important. This deformation amount will determine the performance of the applied support. NDSS is a stronghold analysis method applied in full to make this work. While doing this, NDSS uses the properties of rock mass and material, various rock mass failure criteria, various material models, different excavation geometries, like other methods. The thing that differ NDSS method from the others is that NDSS makes analysis using the time dependent deformation properties of rock mass and engineering judgement. During the evaluation process, NDSS gives the permission of questioning the field observations, measurements and timedependent support performance. These transactions are carried out with 3-dimensional numeric modeling analysis. The goal of NDSS is to design a support system which does not allow greater deformation of the support system than that calculated by numerical modeling. In this paper, NDSS applied to the problems of Tunnel 34 of the same Project (excavated with NATM method, has a length of 2218 meters), which is driven in graphite schist, was illustrated. Results of the system analysis and insitu measurements successfully coincide with each other.
This study is to assess the effects of increasing wall thickness on the safety margin of pressure tube in operating and of lowering initial hydrogen concentration on the DHC growth in respect to the improvement of the reliability of pressure tube in CANDU reactors. The pressure tube with thicker wall of 5.2 mm shows much higher safety margin for flaw tolerance by 25% than the current 4.2mmm tube. The thicker pressure tubes have a great benefit in LBB assessment including the initial crack depth at which DHC occurs, the crack length at onset of leaking and the available time for action. The resistance for the pressure tube ballooning at LOCA accident is also increased with the thicker tube. The calculations for Heq concentration after 20 years of operation as a function of wall thickness and initial hydrogen concentration show that the 5.2 mm nil thickness tube with 5 ppm initial hydrogen concentration is the most resistant to DHC. with the lower initial hydrogen concentration, TSS temperature for the precipitation or hydride decreases and the crack growth during cooldown reduces.
The present study was carried out to examine the fertilizability of the mouse oocytes pre-ex-posed to dbcAMP which is a well-known inhibitor of the oocyte maturation. The oocytes once cultured in the dbcMP-containing medium for a certain length of, time were cultivated in the dbcMp-free medium to induced the maturation, then mixed with sperms, and observed following culture for 24 hours. The fertilization rate of cocytes was judged by the index of the number of 2-cell embryo developed 24hr following insemination. The fertilization rate of the oocyte previously incubated with dbcAMP (100 g/ml) for 2, 4, 8 16 hours was 32.3, 14.5, 4.7 and 8.8%, respectively, while that of the control was 53.3% indicating that the fertilizability was decreased as a function of time exposed to dbcAMP. The pretreatment of dbcMP, however, didn't affect the process of sperm penetration to egg. In addition, there is no prominent changes in the morphological architecture of fertielized eggs which has been exposed to dbcAMP as revealed by electron microscopic observation. Consequendy, it can be concluded that the mouse cocytes once inhibited their maturation by dbcMP may retain, in some extent, the fertilizability, although most of the fertilized egg may not proceed to further development because of the failure of pronucleus formation.

In the present paper, implosion responses of two adjacent cylindrical tubes under external hydrostatic pressure were experimentally investigated. The cylinder models were fabricated of aluminium alloy 6061-T6 commercial tubes. In the experiment, a pair of two-cylinders were placed inside of a support frame in a medium-size pressure chamber, whose design pressure was 6.0MPa. The distance between the two-cylinders was 30 millimeter measured from outer shell at the mid-length. The implosion tests were performed with water and compressed nitrogen gas as the pressurizing media. The ambient static pressure of the chamber and local dynamic pressure near the two-imploded models were measured simultaneously. It was found that the energy released during an implosion from the first, weaker cylinder triggered the instability of the second, stronger cylinders. In other words, the resulting shock wave of the first implosive impact from the weaker cylinder could cause the premature failure of the neighboring stronger cylinders. The non-contact implosion phenomena from the two-cylindrical tube were clearly observed.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to develop an appropriate nursing information guideline according to corrected age, after investigating parents' concerns about the growth, development, and diseases of their premature infants after discharge from the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Methods: The parents of premature infants (birth weight, <2,500 g; gestational age, <37 weeks) who went to a neonatal follow-up clinic after NICU discharge at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital from January 2005 to December 2009, were asked with regard to their concerns about their infants through a questionnaire survey. The results of physical examinations, including body measurements and neurodevelopmental status at 4, 8, 12, and 18 months of corrected age, were retrospectively reviewed in 390 infants. Results: The most common parental concerns were developmental delay, poor growth, and feeding and nutritional problems. Parental concerns about developmental delay, growth failure in improvement in body weight and length, and overweightness were high in specificity but very low in sensitivity. After NICU discharge, 30% of premature infants experienced infectious diseases before 18 months of corrected age, the most common of which was respiratory tract infection. Conclusion: For guiding of premature infants in outpatient day clinics after NICU discharge, it is necessary to identify the parents' highest concerns, to educate them about the possibilities of growth and neurodevelopmental disabilities in their infants and to provide them with handouts containing guidelines on the management of infectious diseases, especially respiratory infections.
This paper applies an active period based bottleneck detection method to flow shop manufacturing system with limited buffer size. Manufacturing systems are constrained by one or more bottlenecks which degrades the system throughput. Conventional bottleneck detection methods include the waiting time or queue length of production stations and their utilization. Due to the random events such as production time of items, machine failure and repair times, the systems may change over time, and subsequently bottlenecks shift from one station to another station. Active period of working station may cause other stations to wait for productions. Information when and where active periods occur helps to find bottlenecks in production systems. Based on these informations, we predict bottlenecks in applying AweSim simulation language. We compare the simulation results of conventional methods with those obtained from duration of active period method, and duration ratio method of both sole and shift bottleneck periods. Even though simulation results are from simple flow shop model, they are quite promising for predicting bottlenecks of production stations. We hope this study aids in decision making regarding the improving system production yield and allocation of available resources of system.
In this paper, it was compared the characteristics of the stress and settlement that occur from a track on the ground using a model test and has quantitatively analyzed the difference based on stress path and effect of the rotation of principal stress. Under identical roadbed conditions, the settlement generated by moving wheel loads were found to be 6 times and 3 times larger than that from static loads and cyclic loads, respectively. The deviator stress affecting shear deformation and the length of stress path generated by moving loads were twofold or greater increase than those by static loads. Furthermore, the stress path generated by moving loads was approached more closely to Mohr-Coulomb failure criteria compared to that by static loads. Also, it was found that ballasted track was occurred about 60% of maximum stress at $40^{\circ}$ of the rotation angle of principal stress and was affected with rotation of principal stress with moving wheel loading condition.

For reinforced concrete members, bond strength is one of the important factors between the two materials: the concrete and the reinforcing element. The bond strength of Aramid Fiber Reinforced Polymer (AFRP) rebar was tested using the pull-out method. Presented were comparison results of the bond strength between AFRP rebar and deformed steel bars from the test. Embedded lengths and diameters of the rebar were taken into account as parameters. The bond stress-slip responses and failure modes of AFRP rebar were evaluated. It was found that the bond stress-slip responses of AFRP rebar were similar to those of deformed steel bars. As the diameter of rebar increased, the pull-out load increased. In addition, it was shown that the bond strength of an AFRP rebar was approximately 54% compared with that of a deformed steel bar.
