A cross-sectional survey of clinical factors that influence the use of traditional Korean medicine among children with cerebral palsy

  • Background: Traditional Korean medicine (TKM) is widely used to treat children with cerebral palsy (CP) in Korea; however, studies investigating factors that influence the use of TKM are scarce. Thus, we investigated the clinical factors that might influence the use of TKM. Methods: A population-based, cross-sectional, multicenter survey was performed from August 2014 to May 2016. The history of TKM use, type and severity of CP, current treatment characteristics, presence of accompanying disabilities or other health problems not directly related to CP, and monthly cost for the treatment of CP were surveyed. Results: In total, 182 children were recruited, and 78 children (42.9%) had used TKM. Among these 78 children, 50 (64.1% of the TKM-use group) had used both acupuncture and herbal medication, 15 (19.2%) had used acupuncture only, and 13 (16.7%) had used herbal medication only. Children with non-typical CP, accompanying disabilities and general health problems tended to use TKM. The monthly cost of treatment for CP was significantly higher in the TKM-use group than that in the no-TKM-use group, suggesting that economically disadvantaged children may have difficulty in accessing TKM. Dietary supplements, conventional pharmacological treatments, and rehabilitation therapies did not affect TKM use. Conclusion: Children with non-typical symptoms or those with poor overall health status are likely to use TKM. Additionally, TKM use leads to increased treatment costs. Studies investigating the motivation for starting or ceasing TKM therapy, socioeconomic factors and the attitude of parents towards complementary and alternative medicine should be performed.

  • A research model was created in order to explore the factors on use intention based on Technology Acceptance Model and considered factors of Mobile-Blog Characteristics (Participation, Sharedness, Immediacy) and factors of Mobile-User Characteristics(Innovativeness, Familiarity). With 165 people as specimens for empirical analysis, The results were as follows: first, factors of Mobile-Blog Characteristics had a positive influence upon Perceived Ease of Use and Perceived Usefulness. second, factors of Mobile-User Characteristics had a positive influence upon Perceived ease and Perceived usefulness. third, Perceived ease had a positive influence upon Perceived usefulness and Perceived ease and Perceived usefulness had a positive influence upon use intention. This study suggested the strategic implications to promote customers use intention after analyzing the critical factors that mobile-blog made influence on them.

Relationship between the determinant factors of social TV resistance to innovation and intention to use (소셜TV 혁신저항 결정요인과 이용의도의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the determinant factors of social TV resistance to innovation and intention to use focused on college students. The results were as follows. First, complexity, trialability and observability among the determinant factors of social TV usage influenced positively on resistance to innovation of social TV, and complexity influenced negatively on resistance to innovation of social TV. Second, only observability among the determinant factors of social TV usage influenced positively on intention to use. Third, resistance to innovation of social TV usage influenced negatively on intention to use.

The Influence of Menu Factors on DEA Menu Efficiency in Contract-Foodservice Operations (위탁 급식 점포의 메뉴 운영 요인이 메뉴 효율성에 미치는 영향)

  • The objective of this study was to suggest a new efficiency measurement indicator for evaluating the menu management efficiency of decision making units(DMUs) in contract-foodservice operations and to determine the relationship between the DEA(data envelopment analysis) menu efficiency score and menu factors. The results of applying DEA revealed relatively efficient types of service and frequency of meals. The efficient service was shown as a self-service type that operates Monday to Saturday. The considered menu factors included meal price, food cost per meal, meal counts, number of menu items, use of favorite menu use, forecasting error, accuracy of ordering, ratio of inventory, ratio of food loss, use of processed foods and use of prepared vegetables are considered. There were significant correlations between the DEA score and meal price, meal counts, number of menu items, ratio of food loss, accuracy of ordering and use of processed foods respectively. According to the regression results, menu price had a positive influence on the DEA menu efficiency score, and food cost per meal and the use of prepared foods had negative influences respectively.

Factors Influencing the Intention to Continue Using the Metaverse: Focusing on the Influence of Social Norms

  • This study aims to examine factors influencing the intention to continue using the metaverse, focusing on the impact of social norms. Specifically, direct and indirect effects of technical characteristics (perceive quality, interactivity, perceived playfulness), user characteristics (self-efficacy, personal innovativeness), and social influence factors (descriptive norm, injunctive norm, subjective norm) on continuous use intention were examined. The role of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness as a mediator was also examined. An online survey was conducted with 165 college students attending universities in two large cities in South Korea who had used the metaverse. As a result, perceived playfulness, descriptive norm, and perceived usefulness directly influenced continuous use intention. Perceived playfulness, interactivity, and subjective norm influenced continuous use intention indirectly through perceived usefulness. This study theoretically extends the Technology Acceptance Model by specifying social influence in metaverse contexts. Practical implications are provided in terms of marketing strategy for the metaverse industry to continue to grow and develop.

Identifying Factors Affecting Chatbot Use Intention of Online Shopping Mall Users (온라인 쇼핑몰 챗봇 사용자의 활용의도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대한 실증 연구)

  • We investigate factors affecting chatbot use intention of online shopping mall users. We identify theoretical foundations from the literature and postulate that accuracy, personalization level, intelligence, intimacy, social presence, and piracy concern should affect intention to use more or negative intention to use. Based on 300 responses from online shopping mall chatbot users in Korea, we run the statistical analysis to assure the reliability and validity of the measurements. From the multiple regression analysis, we find that personalization level, intelligence, social presence, and privacy concerns significantly affect intention to use more. In contrast, we find that accuracy and privacy concerns significantly affect negative intention to use. This work will present pragmatic implications upon the design and management of chatbot in order to not only incent customers to use more but reduce factors that may cause negative use intention. Among functional factors, personalization and intelligence increases the intention to use more while accuracy decreases negative intention to use. Among emotional factors such as intimacy and social presence, we find that only social presence significantly increases intention to use more. Privacy concerns is found to decrease intention to use and increase negative intention to use.

A Study on the Intention to Use of Tablet PCs by Their Owners (태블릿 PC 소유자의 사용의도에 관한 구조적 연구)

  • There are a variety of alternative products in the computer markets. A tablet PC, which is a small type of computer, is expanding its market share as an independent type of computer products. The purpose of this study is to find out what the factors are that led to the success of the tablet PC. A research study was carried out on the intention to use of tablet PCs by consumers. The factors that affect the intention to use of tablet PCs users were structured on the basis of attitude theory. According to the one-dimensional theory of attitude, cognitive factors affect the affective factors, which in turn affect conative factors. In the study, the relations between each dimension were set up. The hypothesis was tested by structural equation modeling. The test results are as follows. First, the values and satisfaction that the owners of tablet PCs feel from the products and the positive comments on the products from their nearby acquaintances affect in a positive way how much they like their products. Second, the products surrounding the tablet PCs did not affect the intention to use of the products. Third, the product favorability that the owners of tablet PCs feel affects the intention to use in a meaningful way. The results of the research also show that hi-tech products such as tablet PCs affect their attitude after they buy and use the products. This attitude affects intention to use of the products. The managers of companies that produce hi-tech products should consider the cognitive and affective aspects of the product owners when manufacturing and marketing products.

Factors related to non-use of interdental care products by Korean adolescents (우리나라 청소년의 치간관리용품 미사용에 관한 요인)

  • Objectives: The objective of the study was to investigate the factors related to non-use of interdental care products (ICP) in adolescents. Methods: The 2019 Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey was used, examining 57,303 subjects. Complex-sample chi-square test and logistic regression analyses were performed to identify differences in ICP according to sociodemographic characteristics and oral health behavior and to determine the factors related to non-use. Results: The ICP non-use rate was 70.9%. Factors related to the non-use of ICP were middle or low economic status (OR=1.367 and 1.677). The other significant variables were less than one tooth brushing per day (OR=1.542), no scaling within 12 months (OR=1.631), and receiving dental treatment either once or two times or more (OR=1.757 and 2.195). Conclusions: To increase the ICP usage rate, continuous attention is needed from schools and families in addition to interventions at the national level.

Factors affecting millennials' intentions to use social commerce in fashion shopping

  • Social media has become an integral part of consumers' daily lives. Individuals connect with one another on social networking sites to like, share, and post information and experiences. As social media become popular among millennials, a growing number of fashion retailers use social media networks in the context of online commerce transactions. Accordingly, an increased number of fashion retailers has been using social media as an advertising tool and a retail channel. Despite the popularity of social media among millennials, empirical findings are limited to reveal factors associated with young consumers' intentions to use social commerce in fashion shopping. This study sought to examine factors affecting millennials' intentions to use social commerce in fashion shopping by adopting the technology acceptance model. A total of 524 college students completed an online survey in the U.S. The results of structural equation model confirmed that perceived ease of use, usefulness, and enjoyment had a positive impact on millennials' attitudes and intentions toward fashion shopping in social commerce. While both perceived ease of use and usefulness positively influenced enjoyment, usefulness had a stronger impact than ease of use. Compared to usefulness, enjoyment had much stronger impact on attitudes. Further structural model analysis revealed a direct, positive influence of perceived usefulness of social commerce on perceived enjoyment of social commerce, which has not been explored in prior studies. These findings provide theoretical and managerial implications.

A Study on User Satisfaction and Continuance Use Intention of Mobile Easy Payment Service User (간편결제 서비스 사용자의 사용만족과 지속사용의도에 관한 연구 - ECM과 UTAUT을 중심으로)

  • As the easy payment service is popularized and the competition in the service market is fierce, research on factors affecting users' continuous use of the easy payment service is becoming increasingly important. However, in the existing studies, the discussion of the continuous intention to use the consumer's simple payment service has not been sufficiently conducted. Existing research remains on the way of listing technology and consumer characteristics. To bridge this research gap, this study aims to integrate and modify ECM and UTAUT to consider factors influencing the continuous use of easy payment services. The user's expectations and the confirmation were considered as important factors to decide. For empirical analysis, a survey was conducted for 236 users who had experience with domestic easy payment service. As a result, it was verified that confirmation, performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and habit in regard to easy payment services are important for continuous use intention. Through this study, it is expected that the consumer's technology acceptance mechanism on the continuous use of simple payment will be grasped in more detail to develop academic discussions in the field. Implications from the results as well as limitations of the study are presented.
