  • This study analyzes the relationship between globalization and income inequality. The empirical model is developed based on Kuznets' hypothesis of the inverse U curve. The effects of factor abundancy and globalization which is characterized by trade and FDI on income inequality are analyzed. 127 member countries of WTO are classified into 4 groups according to GNI. The period of analysis is 21 years from 1995 to 2015. Results show that 3 groups of countries excluding one group that is high income countries supports Kuznets' hypothesis which is the inverse U curve. Secondly, expansion of trade decreases income inequality of middle income countries but increases high and low income countries. Thirdly, FDI increases income inequality of middle and low income countries. Finally, the increase in capital abundancy lowers income inequality because the capital accumulation increases the productivity of labor.

  • Followings are the aims of this study: 1) To search various motives of middle-aged wives to buy townwears and subseqent problems as well as to examine socio-demographic variables physical variables and psychological variables and their influences on. 2) To set up theoretical foundation for further studies on this field. The data used in this study included 374 housewives living in Seoul and Pusan. Statistics used for data analysis were frequencies means standard deviation pearson's correlation factor analysis and regression analysis. The findings can be summarized as follows. 1. Middle-aged wives' recogntion of probloms in buying townwears was divided into two : deficiency motive and sufficiency motive. 2. Variables that affect recognition of problem to purchase townwears are three : Sensitivity to fashion preference for well-kinown lables identity of interpersonal relationship. 3 Recognition of problems for middle-aged wives to purchase townwears proved less than averaged and deficiency motive marked higher than that of abundancy.

  • Due to their diversity and abundancy, marine resources have emerged as important biological resources to compensate the limited sources of terrestrial biological materials. Phaeodactylum tricornutum (PT) is one of classical model diatoms most widely studied for its ecology, physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology. In this study, four different PT extracts on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated macrophages were compared for anti-inflammatory effect and investigated for the underlying mechanisms. The extracts of PT inhibited nitric oxide production from LPS stimulated RAW 264.7 cells in a dose dependent manner. These extracts also inhibited the expression of mRNA and production of proteins of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin (IL)-$1{\beta}$, IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$. These inhibitory effects were found to be caused by blockage of nuclear factor-${\kappa}B$ activation and phosphorylation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases, extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1 and 2 and c-Jun N-terminal kinase.

  • In the recent years, thin film solar cells (TFSCs) have emerged as a viable replacement for crystalline silicon solar cells and offer a variety of choices, particularly in terms of synthesis processes and substrates (rigid or flexible, metal or insulator). Among the thin-film absorber materials, SnS has great potential for the manufacturing of low-cost TFSCs due to its suitable optical and electrical properties, non-toxic nature, and earth abundancy. However, the efficiency of SnS-based solar cells is found to be in the range of 1 ~ 4 % and remains far below those of CdTe-, CIGS-, and CZTSSe-based TFSCs. Aside from the improvement in the physical properties of absorber layer, enormous efforts have been focused on the development of suitable buffer layer for SnS-based solar cells. Herein, we investigate the device performance of SnS-based TFSCs by introducing double buffer layers, in which CdS is applied as first buffer layer and ZnMgO films is employed as second buffer layer. The effect of the composition ratio (Mg/(Mg+Zn)) of RF sputtered ZnMgO films on the device performance is studied. The structural and optical properties of ZnMgO films with various Mg/(Mg+Zn) ratios are also analyzed systemically. The fabricated SnS-based TFSCs with device structure of SLG/Mo/SnS/CdS/ZnMgO/AZO/Al exhibit a highest cell efficiency of 1.84 % along with open-circuit voltage of 0.302 V, short-circuit current density of 13.55 mA cm-2, and fill factor of 0.45 with an optimum Mg/(Mg + Zn) ratio of 0.02.
