This study is to suggest the facial animation methodology for that 3D character animators can use CGS system effectively during on their stage which they create ideas and use repeating a process of facial animation, it has suggested the CGS(Character Generation System) that is a creative idea generation methodology identified and complemented the problem of the existing computerized idea generation, in addition, this research being extended on the article vol.13, no.7, "CGS System based on Three-Dimensional Character Modeling II (Part2: About Digital Process)," on Korea Multimedia Society in July 2010 issue, Through the preceding study on 3D character facial expression according to character's feelings as an anatomical structure and the case study on character expressions of theatrical animation, this study is expected to have effectives as one method for maximization of facial animation and idea generation ability.

In this study, we developed a 3D facial modeler and animator that will not use the existing method by 3D scanner or camera. Without expensive image-input equipments, we can easily create 3D models only using front and side images. The system is available to animate 3D facial models as we connect to animation server on the WWW which is independent from specific platforms and softwares. It was implemented using Java 3D API. The facial modeler detects MPEG-4 FDP(Facial Definition Parameter) feature points from 2D input images, creates 3D facial model modifying generic facial model with the points. The animator animates and renders the 3D facial model according to MPEG-4 FAP(Facial Animation Parameter). This system can be used for generating an avatar on WWW.
In this study, the method to generate facial animation of SVG format based online character AUtomatically was proposed. The re-targeted character can reproduce the modeling facial movements itself without losing the unique formative properties by modeling abundant facial movements of the character in the existing animation for movie theater through the mathematical calculation and 'retargeting' this to other character of SVG format. The method of retargeting facial movements like this can be applied to the various characters by only one facial data so although non-specialists, even not an animator can create facial animation of character easily and rapidly. The suggested facial movement in this study is nonlinear and an exaggerated motion so it is friendly to the viewers and it is lively. Besides, it is based on the SVG format, so the smooth facial movements can be implemented by less capacity than existing GIF animation.
This paper suggests a method to recognize facial expressions of animation characters by means of dominant colors and feature points. The proposed method defines a simplified mesh model adequate for the animation character and detects its face and facial components by using dominant colors. It also extracts edge-based feature points for each facial component. It then classifies the feature points into corresponding AUs(action units) through neural network, and finally recognizes character facial expressions with the suggested AU specification. Experimental results show that the suggested method can recognize facial expressions of animation characters reliably.
This paper introduces that SSFE(Skeleton System for Facial Expression) to deform facial expressions by rigging of skeletons does same functions with 14 facial muscles based on anatomy. A three dimensional animation tool (MAYA 8.5) is utilized for making the SSFE that presents deformation of mesh models implementing facial expressions around eyes, nose and mouse. The SSFE has a good reusability within diverse human mesh models. The reusability of SSFE can be understood as OSMU(One Source Multi Use) of three dimensional animation production method. It can be a good alternative technique for reducing production budget of animations. It can also be used for three dimensional animation industries such as virtual reality and game.

In this paper, we propose a method of image-based three-dimensional modeling for realistic facial expression. In the proposed method, real human facial images are used to deform a generic three-dimensional mesh model and the deformed model is animated to generate facial expression animation. First, we take several pictures of the same person from several view angles. Then we project a three-dimensional face model onto the plane of each facial image and match the projected model with each image. The results are combined to generate a deformed three-dimensional model. We use the feature-based image metamorphosis to match the projected models with images. We then create a synthetic image from the two-dimensional images of a specific person's face. This synthetic image is texture-mapped to the cylindrical projection of the three-dimensional model. We also propose a muscle-based animation technique to generate realistic facial expression animations. This method facilitates the control of the animation. lastly, we show the animation results of the six represenative facial expressions.

The necessity of research on extracting information of face and facial components in animation characters have been increasing since they can effectively express the emotion and personality of characters. In this paper, we introduce a method to extract face and facial components of animation characters by defining a mesh model adequate for characters and by using dominant colors. The suggested algorithm first generates a mesh model for animation characters, and extracts dominant colors for face and facial components by adapting the mesh model to the face of a model character. Then, using the dominant colors, we extract candidate areas of the face and facial components from input images and verify if the extracted areas are real face or facial components by means of color similarity measure. The experimental results show that our method can reliably detect face and facial components of animation characters.
The Uncanny Valley phenomenon has already been deemed as theoretical, and the characteristics of game character expression elements for the Uncanny Valley phenomenon were recognized through case analysis as well. By theoretical consideration and case studies, it was found out that the influential elements of the Uncanny Valley phenomenon can be classified as two primary factors: character surface treatment and facial expression animation. The prepared experimental materials and adjectives were measured to be Five-Point Likert Scale. The measured results were evaluated for both influence and comparative analysis through essential statistical analysis and Repeated Measuring ANOVA in SPSS. The conclusions which were drawn from this research are as follows: The surface treatment of characters did not substantially affect the Uncanny Valley phenomenon. Instead, character's expression animation had a significant impact on the Uncanny Valley phenomenon, which also led to another conclusion that the facial expression animation had an overall deeper impact on Uncanny Valley phenomenon compared with character's surface treatment. It was the unnatural facial expression animation that controlled all of the independent variables and also caused the Uncanny Valley phenomenon. In order for game characters to evade the Uncanny Valley phenomenon and enhance game immersion, the facial expression animation of the character must be done spontaneously.

Real human digital models appear more and more frequently in VR/AR application scenarios, in which real-time markerless face capture animation of personalized virtual human faces is an important research topic. The traditional way to achieve personalized real human facial animation requires multiple mature animation staff, and in practice, the complex process and difficult technology may bring obstacles to inexperienced users. This paper proposes a new process to solve this kind of work, which has the advantages of low cost and less time than the traditional production method. For the personalized real human face model obtained by 3D reconstruction technology, first, use R3ds Wrap to topology the model, then use Avatary to make 52 Blend-Shape model files suitable for AR-Kit, and finally realize real-time markerless face capture 3D real human on the UE4 platform facial motion capture, this study makes rational use of the advantages of software and proposes a more efficient workflow for real-time markerless facial motion capture of personalized 3D real human models, The process ideas proposed in this paper can be helpful for other scholars who study this kind of work.
