Background: Mandibular motion tracking system (ManMoS) has been developed for orthognathic surgery. This article aimed to introduce the ManMoS and to examine the accuracy of this system. Methods: Skeletal and dental models are reconstructed in a virtual space from the DICOM data of three-dimensional computed tomography (3D-CT) recording and the STL data of 3D scanning, respectively. The ManMoS uniquely integrates the virtual dento-skeletal model with the real motion of the dental cast mounted on the simulator, using the reference splint. Positional change of the dental cast is tracked by using the 3D motion tracking equipment and reflects on the jaw position of the virtual model in real time, generating the mixed-reality surgical simulation. ManMoS was applied for two clinical cases having a facial asymmetry. In order to assess the accuracy of the ManMoS, the positional change of the lower dental arch was compared between the virtual and real models. Results: With the measurement data of the real lower dental cast as a reference, measurement error for the whole simulation system was less than 0.32 mm. In ManMoS, the skeletal and dental asymmetries were adequately diagnosed in three dimensions. Jaw repositioning was simulated with priority given to the skeletal correction rather than the occlusal correction. In two cases, facial asymmetry was successfully improved while a normal occlusal relationship was reconstructed. Positional change measured in the virtual model did not differ significantly from that in the real model. Conclusions: It was suggested that the accuracy of the ManMoS was good enough for a clinical use. This surgical simulation system appears to meet clinical demands well and is an important facilitator of communication between orthodontists and surgeons.
The patient with an anterior open bite has one of the most difficult orthodontic problem to correct. Previous studies have yielded different conclusions as to exactly where the morphologic problems associated with vertical dysplasia-high angle cases are located. In order to identify the cephalometric features of high angle cases and highlight the measurements that characterize high angle cases, 109 pretreatment cephalograms, 35 high angle, 37 average angle, and 37 low angle cases, were analyzed and compared statistically. As the mandibular plane was steeper, the anterior facial height, especially lower anterior facial height, became greater, and the posterior facial height became smaller. All the dentoalveolar vertical dimensions, especially in upper, increased. And all the skeletal angular measurements increased. Especially Lower genial angle had most positive correlation to mandibular Plane angle. Upper incisor was lingually inclined, and lower incisor was labially inclined in high angle cases.

Introduction. In patients with mandibular prognathism, Bilateral Sagittal Split Ramus Osteotomy(BSSRO) combined with orthodontic treatment reduces oral volume and influences tongue and other surrounding tissues. Purpose of this study was to analyze post-operative tongue position and airway dimension, as well as mandibular changes in vertical, horizontal, and angular dimensions. Materials and methods. Height of dorsum of tongue, width of airway, gonial angle and lower facial height of mandibular prognathic patients who visited Kangdong Sacred Heart Hospital from Jan. 2001 to Dec. 2006 were anaylzed via pre-operative and post-operative cephalograms. T-test was used to compare pre-operative and post-operative measurements. Also, correlations among pre-operative measurements of the patients were analyzed. Results and conclusion. A significant correlation was shown between ANS-Xi-PM area and location of dorsum of tongue in pre-operative patients. A significant superior movement of tongue and decrease of airway width was observed in post-operative patients. Also the upper gonial angle decreased significantly.

Purpose: To evaluate the upper airway dimensions of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and control subjects using a cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) unit commonly applied in clinical practice in order to assess airway dimensions in the same fashion as that routinely employed in a clinical setting. Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective analysis utilizing existing CBCT scans to evaluate the dimensions of the upper airway in OSA and control subjects. The CBCT data of sixteen OSA and sixteen control subjects were compared. The average area, average volume, total volume, and total length of the upper airway were computed. Width and anterior-posterior (AP) measurements were obtained on the smallest axial slice. Results: OSA subjects had a significantly smaller average airway area, average airway volume, total airway volume, and mean airway width. OSA subjects had a significantly larger airway length measurement. The mean A-P distance was not significantly different between groups. Conclusion: OSA subjects have a smaller upper airway compared to controls with the exception of airway length. The lack of a significant difference in the mean A-P distance may indicate that patient position during imaging (upright vs. supine) can affect this measurement. Comparison of this study with a future prospective study design will allow for validation of these results.
Chelating triphosphines were applied to freeze the fluxionality and to minimize the number of isomers found in the monophosphine analogues and this technique was proved to be useful. RuH(NO)$P_3$($P_3$; Cyttp, ttp and etp) complexes were characterized to have similar trigonal bipyramidal structures with linear NO groups. Cyttp prefers to have a meridional geometry while etp prefers a facial one and ttp complexes are mixture of these two isomers. The crystal structure of RuH(NO)(Cyttp) has been determined to have a distorted trigonal bipyramidal structure with a linear NO in the equatorial plane. The crystals are orthorhombic, space group $P_{nma}$, with unit cell dimensions a = 16.356(2), b = 20.474(2), c = 10.915(l) ${\AA}$, V = 3655 ${\AA}^3$, Z = 4, R = 0.035 and $R_w$ = 0.034 for the 2900 intensities with $F_o^2 >3{\sigma}(F_o^2)$ and the 208 variables.

Lying is nuisance to all, and all liars knows it is nuisance but still keep on lying. Sometime people are in confusion how to escape from or how to detect the liar when they lie. In this research we are aiming to establish a dynamic platform to identify liar by using video analysis especially by calculating the ratio of changes in their appearance when they lie. The platform will be developed using a machine learning algorithm along with the dynamic classifier to classify the liar. For the experimental analysis the dataset to be processed in two dimensions (people lying and people tell truth). Both parameter of facial appearance will be stored for future identification. Similarly, there will be standard parameter to be built for true speaker and liar. We hope this standard parameter will be able to diagnosed a liar without a pre-captured data.

Objective: The purposes of this study were to evaluate the relationship between the dental and basal arch forms; to analyze their differences in the tapered, ovoid, and square arch forms in normal occlusion by using three-dimensional (3D) virtual models; and to test the hypothesis that the overjet and maxillomandibular basal arch width difference have a significantly positive correlation. Methods: Seventy-seven normal occlusion plaster casts were examined by 3D scanning. Facial axis (FA) and WALA points were digitized using the Rapidform 2006 software. The dimensions of the dental and basal arches and the overjet were measured. The samples were classified into 3 groups according to arch forms: tapered (n = 20), ovoid (n = 20), and square (n = 37). Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to compare the dental and basal arch dimensions. The Pearson correlation coefficients between the intercanine as well as the intermolar widths at the FA and WALA points were calculated. Results: With regard to the basal arch dimensions, the tapered arch form showed a larger mandibular intermolar depth than the ovoid. Strong correlations were noted between the basal and dental intermolar widths in both the upper and lower arches (r = 0.83 and 0.85, respectively). Moderate correlation was found between the upper and lower intercanine widths (r = 0.65 and 0.48, respectively). Conclusions: The 3 dental arch form groups differed only in some dimensions of the skeletal arch. Moderate correlations were found between the basal and dental intercanine widths. These findings suggest that the basal arch may not be a principle factor in determining the dental arch form.
Purpose: The frontal sinuses are a pair of triangularly shaped, air-filled chambers lined by mucoperiosteum and located between the inner and outer tables of the frontal bone. Until recently, our understanding of gender variations in craniofacial anatomy has been chiefly built upon anthropometric studies, which typically employ facial surface measurements or plain film radiography. The aim of this study i to determine the sizes of the frontal sinus in both sexes in Koreans. Methods: 95 Korean subjects who underwent maxillofacial 3-Dimensional computed tomography (CT) between January 2009 and December 2009 were enrolled. Frontal sinus dimensions and forehead measurements were taken at midline and at 10, 20, and 30 mm to the left and right of midline using sagittal, coronal, and axial images. The data was analyzed for significant differences between measurements made at the selected points in the frontal sinus, for left to right variations, for gender variations, and for racial differences. Results: The mean thickness of the anterior table ranged from 2.31 to 3.23 mm. Mean anteroposterior depth of the frontal sinus ranged from 7.38 to 9.45 mm and did not vary significantly at any distance from midline. Frontal sinus height was greatest at midline (mean=29.24 mm) and progressively lessened at lateral distances. Mean total width at the level of the supraorbital ridge was 53.66 mm. For all measurements, no significant left to right variation was noted. Comparing the sexes, males were found to have greater dimensions in most frontal sinus measurements, though these differences were only found to be significant at or close to midline. The male forehead was marked by more acute nasofrontal angle ($133.3^{\circ}$ versus $141.6^{\circ}$) and a steeper posterior forehead inclination ($14.9^{\circ}$ versus $7.7^{\circ}$). Conclusion: Using CT imaging, forehead and frontal sinus dimensions have been described. Generally, males had larger overall frontal sinus dimensions. And Korean had similar sized frontal sinus to Caucasian in height and width. But in AP distance Korean had lesser measurement. The result of this study may be helpful in the comprehension of normal size of frontal sinus in Korean.

The COVID-19 has made everyone anxious and people need to keep their distance. It is necessary to conduct collective assessment and screening of college students' mental health in the opening season of every year. This study uses and trains a multi-layer perceptron neural network model for deep learning to identify facial emotions. After the training, real pictures and videos were input for face detection. After detecting the positions of faces in the samples, emotions were classified, and the predicted emotional results of the samples were sent back and displayed on the pictures. The results show that the accuracy is 93.2% in the test set and 95.57% in practice. The recognition rate of Anger is 95%, Disgust is 97%, Happiness is 96%, Fear is 96%, Sadness is 97%, Surprise is 95%, Neutral is 93%, such efficient emotion recognition can provide objective data support for capturing negative. Deep learning emotion recognition system can cooperate with traditional psychological activities to provide more dimensions of psychological indicators for health.
This study was performed to analyze the physical attributes of the faces and affective words on the fares. For analyzing physical attributes inside of a face, 36 facial features were selected and almost of them were the lengths or distance values. For analyzing facial contour 14 points were selected and the lengths from nose-end to them were measured. The values of these features except ratio values normalized by facial vortical length or facial horizontal length because the face size of each person is different. The principal component analysis (PCA) was performed and four major factors were extracted: 'facial contour' component, 'vortical length of eye' component, 'facial width' component, 'eyebrow region' component. We supposed the five-dimensional imaginary space of faces using factor scores of PCA, and selected representative faces evenly in this space. On the other hand, the affective words on faces were collected from magazines and through surveys. The factor analysis and multidimensional scaling method were performed and two orthogonal dimensions for the affections on faces were suggested: babyish-mature and sharp-soft.
