In the face of global competitor the requirements flor the continuously increasing productivity, flexibility and quality(dimensional accuracy, mechanical properties and surface properties) have imposed a major change on steel manufacturing industries. Indeed, one of the keys to achieve this goal is the automation of the steel-making process using AI(Artificial Intelligence) techniques. The automation of hot rolling process requires the developments of several mathematical models fir simulation and quantitative description of the industrial operations involved. In this paper, a on-line training neural network for both long-term teaming and short-term teaming was developed in order to improve the prediction of rolling force in hot rolling mill. This analysis shows that the predicted rolling force is very closed to the actual rolling force, and the thickness error of the strip is considerably reduced.
Recently, hot rolling oil lubrication technology is required to face with the new environments such as the rapid introduction of high wear resistent high speed steel roll the development of continuous hot rolling technology. In the hot strip mill, according to rolling and quality required conditions are constrict, Roll material of hot rolling finishing stand is changing Hi-Cr Roll to High Speed Steel [HSS] Roll. The problem of HSS Roll of roll force and strip scale defects are increasing in hot strip mill, So we have tested HSS Roll in hot rolling simulator as rolling condition, rolling speed, draft, hot oil concentration. To reduce roll force and prevent scale defects. We get some merit rolling force, rolling torque, roll wear reduction, roll and strip surface roughness and hot rolling critical oil concentration 0.4%. Finally we are going to investigate the effect of hot rolling oil of on rolling with HSS Roll.
In the face of global competition, the requirements fer the continuously increasing productivity, flexibility and quality (dimensional accuracy, mechanical properties and surface properties) have imposed a major change on steel manufacturing industries. The automation of hot rolling process requires the developments of several mathematical models for simulation and quantitative description of the industrial operations involved. To achieve this objectives, a new loaming method with neural network to improve the accuracy of rolling force prediction in hot rolling mill is developed. Also, Genetic Algorithm(GA) is applied to select the optimal structure of the neural network and compared with that of engineers experience. It is shown from this research that both structure selection methods can lead to similar results.
In recent years, the metal industry has become increasingly aware of an unwanted component in metal scrap-radioactive material. Worldwide, there have 38 instances where radioactive sources were unintentionally smelted in the course of recycling metal scrap. In some cases contaminated metal consumer products were distributed internationally. U.S. mill that have smelted a radioactive source face costs resulting from decontamination, waste disposal, and lost profits that range from 7 to 23 million U.S. dollars for each case. Despite radiation monitoring system does not provide 100% protection, POSCO has developed the system for the first time in the steel industry of KOREA.
In order to improve the cutting ability of face mill, a model for optimal cutter shape was developed to minimize resultant cutting force by combing cutting force model and optimal technique. Wear test and surface roughness test for optimized and conventional cutter were performed. The new optimized cutter shows longer tool life of 2.29 times than conventional cutter in light cutting condition and 2.52 times in heavy cutting condition. The surface roughness of workpiece by optimized cutter is improved in heavy cutting condition, but deteriorated in light cutting condition in comparison with conventional cutter. The surface profiles of workpiece were analyzed by Fourier transformation. The distribution of cut lay left on workpiece by optimized cutter is more regular than that by the conventional cutter.
In this study, the cutting conditions of moving speed, number of main axial revolutions, etc. are changed for the chrome molybdenum steel (SCM415) material and carbide ball end mill tool to study the changes for processing intensity in the cutting process. The results that confirm the intensity of the measured value of the specimen for SCM415 display the intensity with an average 1.0667 HrC. After the fact cutter, it was able to confirm the average intensity of 8.3815 HrC. In addition, the intensity value after image processing may determine the average intensity survey value of 5.8690 HrC and the different intensity values with image processing after face cutting are shown for an average of ${\pm}2.5125HrC$. The different value of intensity with the specimen and image processing is confirmed for an average of 4.8024 HrC. The results of comparing the intensity following the number of main axial revolutions and moving speed show that the intensity is highest for 3,000 rpm and F200, and lowest for 4,000 rpm and F200.
The pressure drop through pulse air jet-type bag filter is one of the most important factors on the operating cost of bagfilter houses. In this study, the pilot-scale pulse air jet-type bag filter with about 6 m2 filtration area was designed and tested for investigating the effects of the four operating conditions on the total pressure drop, using the coke dust collected from a steel mill factory. When the face velocity is higher than 2 m/min, it is not applicable to on-spot due to the increase of power expenses resulting from a high-pressure drop, and thus, 1.5 m/min is considered to be reasonable. The regression analysis results show that the degree of effects of independent parameters is a order of face velocity > concentration > time > pressure. The results of SPSS answer tree analysis also reveal that the operation time affects the pressure drop greatly in case of 1 m/min of face velocity, while the inlet concentration affects the pressure drop in case of face velocity more than 1.5 m/min.
Ball end mills used for high-speed and high-precision machining require longer machining time than flat end mills or face cutters, since the tool diameter is limited and the rigidity is reduced by the characteristics of the tool's cutting edge: at the top end of the tool, the cutting speed approaches zero and hardly removes any material. Because there is little material removal at the top end of the ball end mill, the outer cutting edge performs the majority of the work; this irregular cutting force deforms the tool and shortens its life. In this study, we attached an eddy-current sensor to a tool to measure the deformation from the cutting force and we used a tool dynamometer to measure the cutting force. We found that the change in cutting force is dependent on the change in feed rate during square-shaped processing and, as the feed rate is accelerated, the cutting force also increases. Higher cutting forces increase tool deformation.
Lubrication has an important role to reduce frictional forces and temperature between cutting chips and the face of a tool. However, it has harmful effects to workers' health and working environment. The purpose of this thesis is to find cutting conditions through the quality analysis in boring for SM45C steel using MQL(Minimum Quantity Lubrication). Machining process is super drill, tip drill, end mill and boring in order. Experimental factors of boring and the quantity of mist air are properly selected. With the analysis of experimental data, this thesis shows that boring with MQL improves the surface roughness when spindle speed is 934rpm or feeding speed is 74mm/min.
$Al-SiC_{p}$ composite layer was prepared by plasma thermal spray on aluminum substrate. The homogeneously dispersed composite powder for thermal spray was fabricated by mechanical alloying with ball mill. The friction tests of the composite layers and commercial aluminum alloys for comparison were performed in the temperature range of 20∼$260^{\circ}C$ with the interval of $40^{\circ}C$ with steel counter-face. Friction coefficient was recorded during test sequence, and the microstructure of surface and debris was investigated by optical and scanning electron microscope. Friction coefficients of composite and aluminum alloys at room temperature were similar except pure aluminum. As the temperature increase, friction coefficient was increased rapidly in AC4C, AC2A. But friction coefficient of $Al-SiC_{p}$ composite was not increased so much up to $220^{\circ}C$. Consequently, the reinforcement of $SiC_{p}$ into aluminum matrix increased the stability of friction coefficient as well as wear resistance.
