In this paper the tactile sensor system based on the bending loss of optical fiber sensor is presented. The sensor array was designed with fabric structure. The optical measuring system was composed of LED for light source and CCD camera for the signal light detector. Performance of this tactile sensor system was evaluated in various environments and compared with Harmon's design criteria. The result shows that load range is 3 g$\sim$100 g, resolution is 1.5 g, hysteresis error is 1.5%. The response linearity is good and flexibility of sensor array is excellent.

Recently, the Field Programmable Stateful Logic Array (FPSLA) was proposed as one of the most promising system integration technologies which will extend the life of the Moore's law. This work is the first proposal of the FPSLA design automation flow, and the approaches to logic synthesis, synchronization, physical mapping, and automatic placement of the FPSLA designs. The synchronization at each gate for pipelining determines the x-coordinates of cells, and reduces the placement to 1-dimensional problems. The objective function and its gradients for the non-linear optimization of the net length and placement density have been remodeled for the reduced global placement problem. Also, a recursive algorithm has been proposed to legalize the placement by relaxing the density overflow of bipartite bin groups in a top-down hierarchical fashion. The proposed model and algorithm are implemented, and validated by applying them to the ACM/SIGDA benchmark designs. The output state of a gate in an FPSLA needs to be duplicated so that each fanout gate can be connected to a dedicated copy. This property has been taken into account by merging the duplicated nets into a hyperedge, and then, splitting the hyperedge into edges as the optimization progresses. This yields additional 18.4% of the cell count reduction in the most dense logic stage. The practicality of the FPSLA can be further enhanced primarily by incorporating into the logic synthesis the constraint to avoid the concentrated fains of gates on some logic stages. In addition, an efficient algorithm needs to be devised for the routing problem which is based on a complicated graph. The graph models the nanowire crossbar which is trimmed to be embedded into the FPSLA fabric, and therefore, asymmetric. These CAD tools can be used to evaluate the fabric efficiency during the architecture enhancement as well as automate the design.

This paper introduces a vision-based on-line fabric inspection methodology of woven textile fabrics. Current procedure for determination of fabric defects in the textile industry is performed by human in the off-line stage. The advantage of the on-line inspection system is not only defect detection and identification, but also 벼ality improvement by a feedback control loop to adjust set-points. The proposed inspection system consists of hardware and software components. The hardware components consist of CCD array cameras, a frame grabber and appropriate illumination. The software routines capitalize upon vertical and horizontal scanning algorithms characteristic of a particular deflect. The signal to noise ratio (SNR) calculation based on the results of the wavelet transform is performed to measure any deflects. The defect declaration is carried out employing SNR and scanning methods. Test results from different types of defect and different style of fabric demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed inspection system.

This research evaluates the change of the water absorbency and drying speed of a quick-drying knit fabric by repeated laundering and laundering conditions and investigates the influence of laundering conditions on the functional properties of the knit fabric. Four factors of laundering conditions were studied: detergent, water hardness, water temperature, and frequency of rotation. Knit fabrics were washed for 25 laundering cycles in a drum-type washing machine with nine different laundering conditions derived from an orthogonal array. The properties of knit fabrics were measured with a drop absorption test, a strip test, and a drying time test. Relaxation shrinkage pointed to a change in the structural characteristics of the knit fabric. Wetting time was faster and wickability was greater in the knit fabrics that underwent 5 laundering cycles; in addition, there were no obvious changes in wetting time and wickability. The detergent was the most important factor in wetting time (40.4%) and wickability (60% or above). Water hardness, water temperature and RPM had less of an effect on wetting time and wickability. There were no significant differences between the levels of laundering conditions (except for detergent) on wetting time and wickability. Drying times with neutral and alkali were slower by repeated laundering; however, there was no obvious change in drying time. Hardness, water temperature and RPM had less of an impact on drying time.
Hollow filament yarns provide better warmth to the touch, lighter in weight, increased opacity, and subtle luster compared to the regular synthetic filament yarns. However, luster properties of textile fibers or fabrics are often difficult to characterize, partly due to the fineness of the surface texture, the anisotropic nature of the weave structure, the complexity of the fiber array comprising a yarn, and the fiber structure itself. In this study, the fabric surface luster image was analyzed using image analysis methods after image acquisition. The hollow filament fiber was modeled using a three-dimensional modeling software. It was then ray-traced for comparing the virtual luster images of the hollow fiber and the regular fiber models based on shading models including photon mapping. The luster object size of the actual hollow filament fabric was smaller than that of the regular filament fabric. The shape of the luster object of the hollow filament fabric was dual peak type while that of the regular filament was single.

Impregnation of shear-thickening fluid(STF) into high-strength fabrics makes a considerable improvement on the ballistic performance of fabric armors. Understanding dissipation augmentation due to shear thickening effects on yarn-yarn and yarn-projectile friction is of great importance in liquid armor research. This paper takes a shearthickening effect into account in numerical simulations by using a velocity-dependent friction model. Impact simulations were performed to validate the friction model as well as to evaluate the ballistic performance of STF-fabrics. Impact simulations on neat fabrics were also conducted to provide baseline results for comparison.

Many researchers have studied woven fabric carbon-fiber-reinforced composite (CFRP) materials but the study of fatigue crack propagation in composites has been insufficient. It has known that the crack propagation behavior differs depending on the load and the fiber direction. In this study, the fatigue crack propagation along two different fiber array directions ($0^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$) in plain woven CFRP composite was investigated. Fatigue crack propagation tests were conducted on the woven CFRP composite under a sinusoidal waveform load with stress ratios of 0.1 at a frequency of 10 Hz. Once the results of the tests were obtained, fatigue crack propagation rates (da/dN) were plotted against the energy release rate amplitude (${\Delta}G$), and it was observed that either mode I crack propagation or mixed mode crack propagation occurs depending on the fiber array direction.
The purpose of this research is to create a polyester sample book that serves as a point of reference that exporters in the Taegu area can allude to when exporting to the U.S. By getting this project off the ground, we can expect to make a worthy contribution to the manufacture of high-quality, value-added fashion & textile goods. The research was conducted as follows. First, a study was carried out in the local market ensued by consumer surveys with regards to consumer attitude on man-made fibers, market researches, and interviews with experts, all in conjunction with the Color Association of the U.S. Also, a diverse array of fabric swatches were collected from Manhattans fabric wholesalers and then classified by color and fabric type fur the sample book. In short, this research found that man-made fibers have full marketability in the U.S. Thus, in order for Taegus synthetic textile firms to be successful in exporting to the US, it is essential that they come up with fabrics that have properties resembling natural fibers such as having a soft hand, natural sheen, smooth draping, and diverse textures as well as being in line with the current trends. In addition, it is also necessary to develop fabrications that are versatile and functional. Thus, by developing innovative fabrications, the synthetic textile business will turn toward the production of high-quality synthetics and will also provide a platfrom for strengthening the competitive edge of Koreas textile & fashion business.
A selection of commercially available poly(ethy1ene terephtha1ate) fibers with different degrees of molecular alignment and crystallinity have been investigated utilizing a wide range of techniques including optical microscopy, infrared spectroscopy together with thermal and wide-angle X-ray diffraction techniques. Annealing experiments showed increased molecular alignment and crystallinity as shown by the increased values of birefringence and melting enthalpies. Crystallinity values determined from thermal analysis, density, unpolarized infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction are compared and discussed in terms of the inherent capabilities and limitations of each measurement technique. The birefringence and refractive index values obtained from optical microscopy are found to decrease with increasing wavelength of light used in the experiments. The wide-angle X-ray diffraction analysis shows that the samples with relatively low orientation possess oriented non-crystalline array of chains whereas those with high molecular orientation possess well defined and oriented crystalline array of chains along the fiber axis direction. X-ray analysis showed increasing crystallite size trend with increasing molecular orientation. SEM images showed micro-cracks on low oriented fiber surfaces becoming smooth on highly oriented fiber surfaces. Excellent bending characteristics were observed with knotted fibers implying relatively easy fabric formation.
After adhering theone-sided non-woven adhesive interlining to the polyester/cotton fabrics and making experiments under the various conditions by L27 Orthogonal Array Table, we examined and analyzed the breaking away strength. The rusults are summarized as follows : 1. The best length of the adhering time is 15 secs. 2. As the adehesive interlining for blouse and jacket, B3 is best 3. The pressure for the adhesion is best under the pressure of 6.2Kg. 4. The temperature for the adhesion is best at 140$^{\circ}C$. 5. As for the direction of the adhesion, three directions appear much the same breaking away strength. 6. For the better adhesion power, if the less adhering power, if the less adhering pressure is applied, the adhering time must be extended(15-20 secs), and if much stronger adhering pressure is applied, the time must be shortened(10-15 secs). In general, it is the best way for the adhesion to apply under the pressure of 6.2Kg, for 15 secs long, and at 140$^{\circ}C$ of the adhering temperature.
