Simple Method for Improving the Frequency Sweep Linearity of FMCW Collision Warning Radar (차량 충돌방지용 FMCW 레이더의 주파수 Sweep 선형성 개선을 위한 간단한 기법)

  • FMCW(Frequency Modulation Continuous Wave) Radar can detect the distance and the velocity of forward obstacles using linearly modulated FM signal. For better performance, the RF of radar should be operated with wideband frequency linearity on 300 MHz bandwidth at 77 GHz carrier frequency. In this paper, we propose a simple method for improving frequency linearity of FMCW radar implemented with VCO. The proposed method shows that the Voltage-Frequency relation of VCO could be measured by using the modified Tx waveform of FMCW radar. Then the measured nonlinearity could be compensated using LUT(Look-up Table) with easy. It is noted that the proposed can be adopted in existing system without extra circuit.

Development of 5-Axis Microscribe System for Off-Line Buffing Robot Path Programming and Its Application (버핑 로봇의 오프라인 경로 프로그래밍용 5축 마이크로스크라이브 개발 및 응용)

  • We propose how to program the off-line buffing robot path along shoes' outsole shape in the footwear buffing process by a 5-axis microscribe system like robot mechanism. The microscribe system we developed consists of a 5-axis robot link with a turn table, a signal processing unit, PC and an application software program. Itmakes a robot path on the shoes' upper in accordance with the movement of a microscribe with many joints. The developed system calculates the encoder pulse values for the microscribe arm's rotation and transmits the angle pulse values to the PC through a processing unit. Denavit-Hartenberg's(D-H) direct kinematics is used to make the global coordinate from microscribe joint one. Problems with the microscribe's kinematics can be solved efficiently and systematically by D-H representation. With the coordinate values calculated by D-H equation, our system can draw a buffing gauge-line on the upper sole. We obtain shoes' outline points, which are 2 outlines coupled with the points and the normal vector based on the points. By applying the system to the buffing robot in a flexible manufacturing system, it can be used effectively to program the path of a real buffing robot.

Seabed Classification Using the K-L (Karhunen-Lo$\grave{e}$ve) Transform of Chirp Acoustic Profiling Data: An Effective Approach to Geoacoustic Modeling (광역주파수 음향반사자료의 K-L 변환을 이용한 해저면 분류: 지질음향 모델링을 위한 유용한 방법)

  • We introduce a statistical scheme to classify seabed from acoustic profiling data acquired using Chirp sonar system. The classification is based on grouping of signal traces by similarity index, which is computed using the K-L (Karhunen-Lo$\grave{e}$ve) transform of the Chirp profiling data. The similarity index represents the degree of coherence of bottom-reflected signals in consecutive traces, hence indicating the acoustic roughness of the seabed. The results of this study show that similarity index is a function of homogeneity, grain size of sediments and bottom hardness. The similarity index ranges from 0 to 1 for various types of seabed material. It increases in accordance with the homogeneity and softness of bottom sediments, whereas it is inversely proportional to the grain size of sediments. As a real data example, we classified the seabed off Cheju Island, Korea based on the similarity index and compared the result with side-scan sonar data and sediment samples. The comparison shows that the classification of seabed by the similarity index is in good agreement with the real sedimentary facies and can delineate acoustic response of the seabed in more detail. Therefore, this study presents an effective method for geoacoustic modeling to classify the seafloor directly from acoustic data.

Design of Digitalized SECAM Video Encoder with Modified Anti-cloche filter and SECAM Video Decoder with BPF and Error-free Square Root (개선된 Anti-cloche Filter와 BPF 그리고 오차가 없는 제곱근기를 사용한 SECAM Encoder와 Decoder의 설계)

  • In this raper, we propose the Sequentiel Couleur Avec Memoire or Sequential Color with Memory (SECAM) video encoder system using modified anti-cloche filters and the SECAM video decoder system using a band pass filter (BPF) and an error-free square root. The SECAM encoder requires an anti-cloche filter recommended by International Telecommunication Union-Recommendation (ITU-R) Broadcasting service Television (BT) 470. However, the design of the anti-cloche filter is difficult because the frequency response of the anti-cloche filter is very sharp around rejection-frequency area. So, we convert the filter into a hish pass filter (HPF) by shifting the rejection frequency of 4.286MHz to 0Hz frequency. The design of HPF becomes very easy, compared to that of the anti-cloche filter. The proposed decoder also uses an error-free square root, two differentiators and trigonometric functions to extract color-component information of Db and Dr accurately from frequency modulation (FM) signals in SECAM systems. Also, the BPF in decoder it used for removing color noise in chrominance and dividing CVBS into chrominance and luminance. The proposed systems are experimentally demonstrated with Altera FPGA APEX20KE EP20K1000EBC652-3 device and TV sets.
