Systematic Design Method of Fuzzy Logic Controllers by Using Fuzzy Control Cell (퍼지제어 셀을 이용한 퍼지논리제어기의 조직적인 설계방법)

  • A systematic procedure to design fuzzy PID controllers is developed in this paper. The concept of local fuzzy control cell is proposed by introducing both an adequate global control rule and membership functions to simplify a fuzzy logic controller. Fuzzy decision is made by using algebraic product and parallel firing arithematic mean, and a defuzzification strategy is adopted for improving the computational efficiency based on nonfuzzy micro-processor. A direct method, transforming the typical output of quasi-linear fuzzy operator to the digital compensator of PID form, is also proposed. Finally, the proposed algorithm is applied to an DC-servo motor. It is found that this algorithm is systematic and robust through computer simulations and implementation of controller using Intel 8097 micro-processor.

  • 본 논문은 저비용이면서 정확한 제어를 수행하는 새로운 퍼지 제어기의 재구성 가능한 FPGA 시스템상의 구현을 다룬다. 제안한 퍼지 제어기 (Fuzzy Logic Controller : FLC)의 시스템 구조와 이의 VHDL 설계 및 시뮬레이션은 다른 논문에 나타나 있다. 제안한 퍼지 제어기의 구현 과정은 다음과 같다. 각 모듈은 VHDL 언어에 의해서 기술된 뒤, Synopsys사의 FPGA 컴파일러에 의해 합성된다. 합성된 각 모듈은 Xilinx사의 XactStep 6.0에 의해 최적화 및 배치, 배선이 이루어진다. 얻어진 Xilinx rawbit 파일은 VCC사의 r2h에 의해 C 언어의 header 파일 형태의 하드웨어 object로 변환된다. C언어 형태의 하드웨어 object를 포함하는 응용 제어 프로그램이 C 컴파일러에 의해 컴파일된 후, 이 실행 파일이 재구성 가능한 FPGA 시스템 상에 다운로드된다. 제안한 퍼지 제어기를 EVCI 보드 상에 동적으로 구현하여 트럭 후진 주차 제어에 사용할 때 걸리는 시간을 Synopsys사의 VHDL 시뮬레이터와 워크스테이션상에서 C언어에 의해 구현하여 트럭 후진 주차 제어에 사용할 때 걸리는 시간을 각각 비교하였다.

Reference Model Following Self-Organizing Fuzzy Logic Controller (기준모델 추종 자구구성 퍼지 논리 제어기)

  • A RMFSOC(Reference Model Following Self-Organizing Fuzzy Logic Controller) is propose in this paper. In the RMFSOC, the refernce model is introduced, where the desired control performance can be specified by an operator of the controlled process. The self-organizing level of the RMFSOC organizes the control rules of FLC which make the process output follow the reference model output. In addition, for the use of preventing improper modifications of control rules, a complementary decission rule is induced from the possible relations between the process output and reference model output. Through a simulation study, it is shown that the robustness of the control system using the proposed RMFSOC to the set-point changes and distur bances can be greatly improved being conpared with that of the control system using the Procyk and Mamdani's SOC.

Mechanism Development and Heading Control of Catamaran-type Sail Drone

  • The need for energy harvesting in marine environments is gradually increasing owing to the energy limitation of marine robots. To address this problem, a catamaran-type sail drone (CSD), which can harvest marine energies such as wind and solar, was proposed in a previous study. However, it was designed and manufactured without considering the stability, optimal hull-form, and maintenance. To resolve these problems, a CSD with two keels, a performance estimator, V-shape hulls, and modularized components is proposed and its mechanism is developed in this study. To verify the performance of the CSD, the performance estimation using smoothed-particle hydrodynamics (SPH) and the heading control using fuzzy logic controller (FLC) are performed. Simulation results show the attitude stability of the CSD and the experimental results show the straight path of the CSD according to wind conditions. Therefore, the CSD has potential applications as an energy harvesting system.

  • In general, the thermal control system has nonlinearity and the time delay, futhermore, it is difficult to design the free size controller, because the external environmental disturbances, such as rapid temperature change. Many researchers in this field are preferring to adapt the fuzzy logic control methods. But it is noted that the actuator identification of M.F.'s used in FLC is very difficult. Therefore in this paper, an implementation technique of thermal control system using RVEGA based optimal fuzzy control was proposed. It's superiority and exaction in controller design processes hardware in implementation were proved through a series of simulations and experimentations.

  • In real system application, the 3-D obstacle avoidance system for the autonomous control of the underwater flight vehicle (UFV) operates with the following problems: the sonar offers the range/bearing information of obstacles in a local detection area, it requires the system that has reduced acoustic noise and power consumption in terms of the autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV), it has the UFV operation constraints such as maximum pitch and depth, and it requires an easy design procedure in terms of its structures and parameters. To solve these problems, an intelligent 3-D obstacle avoidance algorithm using the evolution strategy (ES) and the fuzzy logic controller (FLC), is proposed. To verify the performance of the proposed algorithm, the 3-D obstacle avoidance of UFV is performed. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm effectively solves the problems in the real system application.

Seismic Response Control of Tilted Tall Building based on Evolutionary Optimization Algorithm (경사진 고층건물의 진화최적화 알고리즘에 기반한 지진응답 제어)

  • A tilted tall building is actively constructed as landmark structures around world to date. Because lateral displacement responses of a tilted tall building occurs even by its self-weight, reduction of seismic responses is very important to ensure structural safety. In this study, a smart tuned mass damper (STMD) was applied to the example tilted tall building and its seismic response control performance was investigated. The STMD was composed of magnetorheological (MR) damper and it was installed on the top floor of the example building. Control performance of the STMD mainly depends on the control algorithn. Fuzzy logic controller (FLC) was selected as a control algorithm for the STMD. Because composing fuzzy rules and tuning membership functions of FLC are difficult task, evolutionary optimization algorithm (EOA) was used to develop the FLC. After numerical simulations, it has been seen that the STMD controlled by the EOA-optimized FLC can effectively reduce seismic responses fo the tilted tall building.

  • The permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) is receiving Increased attention for servo drive applications in recent years because of its high torque to inertia ratio, superior power density and high efficiency. By vector-controll method, PMSM has the same operating characterics as seperately excited dc motor. The drive system of servo motor is requested to have an accurate response for the reference input and a quick recovery for the disturbance such as load torque. However, when the unknown disturbances and parameter variations are imposed on the permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM), the drive system is significantly effected by them. As a result, the drive system with both a fast compensation and a robustness to a parameter variations is requested. This paper investigates the possibility of applying the fuzzy logic controller(FLC) using Multi-Rule Base In a servo motor control system. In this paper, The five Rule Bases(1 to 5) are selected to recover the state error caused by the disturbance in steady state. In the initial operating mode. Rule Base 0 is used. To show the validity of the proposed fuzzy logic controll system, the computer simulation results are provided.

  • Induction heating system is time varying system around curie point. So, it has many troubles which are system shut down and change the load impedance. In this paper has been designed the parallel resonant inverter which controlling the constant power and tracking the load resonant frequency with PLL is possible, in order to minimize switching losses and solve it's many troubles. The current full-bridge type parallel resonant inverter of an induction heating system was composed of IGBT in switching device. For regulating the output power of an induction heating system, the Fuzzy logic controller is used. The Fuzzy controller makes the control signal for a stable power regulating control and when reference is changed, it is superior to adaptability. It has been evaluated a stable behavior for a noise with switching and a load disturbance.
