Differential Diagnosis of Breast Mass and Staging of Breast Cancer Using F-18-FDG PET (F-18-FDG PET을 이용한 유방종괴의 감별진단과 유방암의 병기설정)

  • Purpose: F-18-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) has been proven to be useful in the differential diagnosis of breast mass and staging of breast cancer. This study assessed the diagnostic accuracy of F-18-FDG PET in the differentiation of breast mass and staging of breast cancer. Materials and Methods: Total 42 patients who had breast mass underwent F-18-FDG PET (all female, 40: 10 year old). We compared F-18 FDG PET results with pathologic findings in 24 patients Results: In the differentiation of breast mass, sensitivity and specificity were 95% (19/20) and 77% (7/9) respectively. Three false positive cases were due to inflammation and one false negative patient had small tumor less than 1 cm. In the assessment of axillary lymph node status, sensitivity and specificity were 73% (8/11) and 100% (7/7) respectively. We found distant metastasis that were not suspected before F-18-FDG PET in 2 patients. Conclusion: F-18-FDG PET shows good diagnostic performance in differentiation of breast mass and staging of breast cancer.

Synthesis of 18F-labeled 2-cyanobenzothiazole derivative for efficient radiolabeling of N-terminal cysteine-bearing biomolecules

  • This article provides an efficient 18F-labeling protocol based on a rapid condensation reaction between 2-cyanobenzothiazole (CBT) and N-terminal cysteine-containing biomolecules. The 18F-labeled CBT (18F-1) was prepared by radiofluorination of the tosylated precursor 4 with 18-crown-6/K+/[18F]F- complex. Using the purified 18F-1, 18F-labeled peptide (18F-7) and protein (18F-8) could be synthesized efficiently under mild conditions. This strategy would provide a convenient approach for rapid and site-specific 18F-labeling of various peptides and proteins for in vivo imaging and biomedical applications.

Characterization of Microfluidically Variable Capacitors (미세유체 제어방법을 사용한 가변 커패시터)

  • This paper demonstrates a variable capacitor using fluids as dielectric material and investigates the possibility of its application to a magnetic resonance microscopy's coil. The capacitor structure was integrated with a microfluidic channel and the capacitance was measured while changing the filling percentage of fluids in the channel. The measured capacitance when filling DI water and mineral oil was changed from 1.7 pF to 12 pF and from 1.7 pF to 2 pF, respectively.

Chromosomal Studies on the Genus Fusarium (Fusarium속의 염색체 분석)

  • by use of HCl-Giemsa technique and light microscope, dividing vegetative nuclei in hyphae of Fusarium species were observed and the results are summerized. The chromosome number of these fungi was ranged 4 to 8. Of the 20 strains, the highest haploid chromosome number is 8 in F. solani S Hongchun K4, F. moniliforme (from banana) and F. raphani (from radish). The lowest is 4 in F. sporotrichioides NRRL 3510 and F. equiseti KFCC 11843 IFO 30198. F. solani 7468 (from Sydney), F. solani 7475 (from Sydney), F. oxysporum(from tomato). F. roseum (from rice), F. sporotrichioides C Jngsun 1, F. equiseti C Kosung 1 and F. avenaceum 46039 are n=7. F. moniliforme (from rice) F. graminearum, F. proliferatum 6787 (from Syndey), F. proliferatum 7459 (from Synder) and F. anguioides ATCC 20351 are n=6. F. moniliforme NRRL 2284, F. poae NRRL 3287 and F. trincinctum NRRL 3299 are n=5. From these results, it may be concluded that the basic haploid chromosome number of the genus Fusarium is 4 and mat have been evolutionary variation of chromosome number through aneuploidy and polyploidy.

A Study on the Visual Effects According to the Lines in Cloth Designing (의복 디자인 선에 따른 시각적 효과에 관한 연구)

  • Authors have performed the sensory evaluation tests according to each given items after selecting various lines in order to assess the visual effects by the lines in cloth designing. The evaluations were done by means of ranking tests followed by paired comparison tests. The results obtained were as follows : 1. In the item in than "Shoulder width looks wide", the design C3 showed the best visual effect, and then B1, F8, and A5 comes in order. In "Shoulder width looks narrow", they were A2, F5, F7, and B2 in order. 2. In "Bust looks big", the effect was best in F9, and then B1, F5, C3, and A5 and order. "Bust looks small" item showed A3, C1, and F1 in order. 3. In "Waist looks thick", they were B2, D1, and F7 while in "Waist looks thin", they were B3, F8, and D6 in order. 4. In the item in that "Hip looks big", the best effect was in F9, and then E3, C2, and B4 in order. In "Hip looks small", the best one was C1, and then comes. E1, F6, and F8. 5. In "Upper body looks thick", they were D2, D4, F8, C3 and A5 in order whild in "Upper body looks thin", they were A1, F5, and D7 in order. 6. In the item "Lower body lookds thick", they were F9, C2, E3, B3, and D3 in order. In "Lower body looks thin", the best one was C1, and then D1, E2, F6, and F8 comes in order. 7. In "whole body looks thick", they were F9, F3, D3, and A5, and in "Whole body looks thin", they were F5, A1, C1, and D6 in order. 8. In "Height looks tall", the effects were in order of A4, D6, E1, and F7 while in "Height looks short", they were E3, F9, B4, D2, and D1. 8. In "Height looks tall", the effects were in order of A4, D6, E1, and F7 while in "Height looks short", they were E3, F9, B4, D2, and D1. F9, B4, D2, and D1.

Chromosome Number in Several Species of the Genus Fusarium (Fusarium 속 균종들의 염색체수)

  • The chromosome of Fusarium species during the vegetatve nuclear divisions in hyphae were observed by use of HCl-Giemsa technique on light microscope. The haploid chromosome number of Fusarium anthophilum 7472 was n=7, n=6 in F. anthophilum 7481 and n=6 in F. oxysporum 7500. The haploid chromosome number was 7 in F. napiforme 6129 and F. napiforme 6144. Those of F. caucasicum F. caucasicum ATCC 18791 and F. aquaeductuum ATCC 15612 were n=5. F. coeruleum ATCC 20088 was n=6, n=8 in F. camptoceras ATCC 16065 and n=7 in F. sambucinum NRRL 13451. From these results and previous papers, it may be concluded that the basic haploid chromosome number of the genus Fusarium is n=4.

  • For the purpose of developing a microbial insecticide utilizing Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner, research was done and the following results were obtained. 1) As the freeze-dried matter of the cocoon-cooked water discarded from the filature contains much crude protein(51.825%) and a lot of inorganic salts, it can make a good nutrition source for the culture cf B. thuringiensis Berliner. 2) Based on the suspensibility, formula F-5 turned out to be the most suitable for insecticidal use. Its composition includes 0.2 g of the cell-spore-crystal mixture, 25 g of 200-mesh kaolin, 2.5 g of New Kalgen-NX-150, and 2.5 g of glycerine admixed with 8 ml of distilled water and granulated in 80-mesh size. 3) All the components of F-5, F-6 and F-7 are identical except that the amounts of cell-spore-crystal mixture of F-5, F-6, and F-7 are 0.2 g, 0.4 g, and 0.6 g, respectively. Accordingly, their physical properties are almost all the same. 4) Formulas F-5, F-6, and F-7 exhibited an excellent toxicity to Anomis mesogona Walker, Dendrolimus spectabilis Butler, and Margaronia perspectalis Walker at the concentration of 5%. 5) Formulas F-8 and F-9 which contain $NaHCO_3$ as one of their components showed a remarkably reduced toxicity to Anomis mesogona Walker and Dendrolimus spectabilis Butler than F-6 which does not contain $NaHCO_3$. 6) A maximum of $2.97{\times}10^9$ spores per ml was obtained by incubating B. thuringiensis in M-3 which has a pH of 7.05 and comprises 0.2% of ammonium sulphate and 0.8% of glucose dissolved in the cocoon-cooked water, with aeration for 96 hours. 7) Formula F-6 exhibited a somewhat reduced toxicity to Anomis mesogona Walker and Dendrolimus spectabilis Butler, when stored at room temperature for 70 days after formulation and it is desirable to keep it in a dark and cold place. 8) In held applications, formula F-6 showed a good activity in controlling Monema flavescens Walker. Margaronia perspectalis Walker, and Macrosiphum ibarae Matsumura.

  • 7 parent varieties and 21 $_{x}\textrm{F}_1 and $_{x}\textrm{F}_2 hybrids from 7 X 7 partial diallel crosses were used as the materials, and degree of heterosis was studied in 9 agronomic characters of rice. Degree of heterosis was more remarkable in $_{x}\textrm{F}_1 hybrids than $_{x}\textrm{F}_2 hybrids. and significant differences were showed in many hybrid generations. and also over dominance could be shoo wed in eight characters except 1000 kernel weight of rice.

Breeding of High Yield and Elite Lines for Development 'Ssam' Lettuce (쌈용 상추 품종 개발을 위한 다수성, 우수 계통 육성)

  • More than 90 percent of domestic consumption of the lettuce occupied leaf lettuce, and the farmer preferred high yield, late bolting and stable expression of anthocyanins. So, this research focused on making resistant to disease, late bolting, and good expression of anthocyanin for lettuce. Based on these characteristic's parents, 11 crosses were created. So we advanced the generation and investigated each generation from F1 to F7. In this year, we selected 90 combination 221 lines which was F2 42 combination 137 lines, F3 4 combination 17 lines, F4 11 combination 27 lines, F5 7 combination 30 lines, F6 1 combination 2 lines, F7 3 combination 8 lines. Among the selected 17 lines, 5007, 5014, 6004, 6005, 6021, 6023, 7001, 7002, 7006, 7007, 7010, 7011, 7015, 7018, 7019, and 7021 which were late bolting and good expression of anthocyanins were investigated their yield. Finally, we selected 5 lines 7001, 7002, 7011, 7018 and 7022 in this year.

Plant Architecture and Dry Matter Production in Large-Grain Rice Variety (대립벼의 생산구조 특성과 물질생산)

  • This study was conducted to get basic information of dry matter production and agronomic characteristics for increasing grain ripening in rice cultivar with large grains. Three cultivars which have different grain size were used. Of the two large grain cultivars, SR7796-3-1-5-1-l(SR7796F$_{7}$) had long culm and SR11269-13-3-4-2(SR11269F$_{6}$) had short culm. On the other hand, Tamjinbyeo was recommended cultivar had medium size of grain and culm. LAI was highest in Tamjinbyeo, followed by the SR11269F$_{6}$ and SR7796F$_{7}$, LAI decrement was higher in large grain cultivars than that of Tamjinbyeo after 20days after heading. Total dry weight(TDW) of areal part was highest in SR11269F$_{6}$, followed by the Tamjinbyeo and SR7796F$_{7}$. Dry weight (DW) of stem (leaf sheath+culm) at harvesting stage was decreased 15%, 12% in Tamjinbyeo, SR11269F$_{6}$, respectively, but was increased 5% in SR7796F$_{7}$ compared to heading stage. In distribution rate of each organ to TDW, distribution rate of leaf blade was low in large grain cultivar, but that of stem in Tamjinbyeo, SR7796F$_{7}$ and SR11269F$_{6}$ was 36%, 38% and 42%, respectively. In canopy architecture leaf blade weight was the highest 30~40cm, 40~50cm and 70~8Ocm above the ground in SR11269F$_{6}$, Tamjinbyeo and SR7796F$_{7}$, respectively. Range of panicle distribution in the canopy was 40cm in Tamjinbyeo, and was 70cm in large-grain cultivars. The results suggest that it has to take a growing interest in developing culture method for increasing LAI during growth stage, especially, around heading, in keeping green leaf till ripening stage and also in growing unformly plant within rice hill in large grain cultivars.cultivars.ltivars.
