  • Gaze detection is to find out the position on a monitor screen where a user is looking at, using the computer vision processing. This System can help the handicapped to use a computer, substitute a touch screen which is expensive, and navigate the virtual reality. There are basically two main types of the study of gaze detection. The first is to find out the location by face movement, and the second is by eye movement. In the gaze detection by eye movement, we find out the position with special devices, or the methode of image processing. In this paper, we detect not the iris but the pupil from the image captured by Head-Mounted Camera with infra-red light, and accurately locate the position where a user looking at by A(fine Transform.

  • In this paper, we propose a fast and practical head pose estimation scheme fur eye-head controlled human computer interface with non-constrained background. The method we propose uses complete graph matching from thresholded images and the two blocks showing the greatest similarity are selected as eyes, we also locate mouth and nostrils in turn using the eye location information and size information. The average computing time of the image(360*240) is within 0.2(sec) and we employ template matching method using angles between facial features for head pose estimation. It has been tested on several sequential facial images with different illuminating conditions and varied head poses, It returned quite a satisfactory performance in both speed and accuracy.

  • We had a campaign of observing the annular solar eclipse on 2012 May 21 by naked eye through eclipse eyeglasses to determine the limit line of annularity. As a result, we had about 15,000 reports through our website. In addition there were many observation groups for which about 30,000 people in total participated in the observations. The overall result was that the limit we observed by naked eye through eclipse glasses coincided with a prediction that took into account the lunar limb irregularity within the error of ${\pm}500m$. This error of the limit line location corresponds to about ${\pm}200km$ of the radius of the Sun.

  • An automatic face recognition(AFR) of individuals is a significant problem in the development of computer vision. An AFR consists of two major parts which are detection of face region and recognition process, and the overall performance of AFR is determined by each. In this paper, the face region is acquired using chromaticity space, but this face region is a simple rectangle which doesn´t consider the shape information. By applying deformable templates to the face region, we can locate the position of the eyes in images. With the face region and the eye location information, more precise face region can be extract from the image. Because processing time is critical in real-time system, we use simplified eye templates and the modified energy function for the efficiency. We can get a good detection performance in experiments.

  • This paper proposes a novel mapping algorithm in Omni-directional Vision SLAM based on an obstacle's feature extraction using Lucas-Kanade Optical Flow motion detection and images obtained through fish-eye lenses mounted on robots. Omni-directional image sensors have distortion problems because they use a fish-eye lens or mirror, but it is possible in real time image processing for mobile robots because it measured all information around the robot at one time. In previous Omni-Directional Vision SLAM research, feature points in corrected fisheye images were used but the proposed algorithm corrected only the feature point of the obstacle. We obtained faster processing than previous systems through this process. The core of the proposed algorithm may be summarized as follows: First, we capture instantaneous $360^{\circ}$ panoramic images around a robot through fish-eye lenses which are mounted in the bottom direction. Second, we remove the feature points of the floor surface using a histogram filter, and label the candidates of the obstacle extracted. Third, we estimate the location of obstacles based on motion vectors using LKOF. Finally, it estimates the robot position using an Extended Kalman Filter based on the obstacle position obtained by LKOF and creates a map. We will confirm the reliability of the mapping algorithm using motion estimation based on fisheye images through the comparison between maps obtained using the proposed algorithm and real maps.

  • We isolated 7 oriental eye worms, Thelazia callipaeda, from right eye of a military dog that had been reared in the military base of Namyangiu-Gun, Kyungki province in May, 1999. Some of them were observed with light microscope after fixation and mounting with lactophenol, the others with scanning electron microscope after fixation with glutaraldehyde. As the result, the morphological differences of head part of females and males, tail part of females and males, cuticular characteristics of the surface and location of vaginal opening, we identified of these worms with T. callipaeda.

  • Nowadays, eyes detection is required and considered as the most important step in several applications, such as eye tracking, face identification and recognition, facial expression analysis and iris detection. This paper presents the eyes detection in facial images using Harris corner detection. Firstly, Haar-like features for face detection is used to detect a face region in an image. To separate the region of the eyes from a whole face region, the projection function is applied in this paper. At the last step, Harris corner detection is used to detect the eyes location. In experimental results, the eyes location on both grayscale and color facial images were detected accurately and effectively.

  • The tadpoles of 12 Korean anuran species, including Bombina orientalis, Bufo gargarizans, B. stejnegeri, Hyla japonica, Kaloula borealis, Rana dybowskii, R. huanrenensis, R. coreana, R. nigromaculata, R. chosenica, R. rugosa, and R. catesbeiana, were classified based on their morphological characteristics. We collected eggs or tadpoles of the 12 Korean anuran species from Gangwon, Incheon, Chungcheong, and Gyeonggi districts in 2005 and 2006 breeding seasons. When the tadpoles reached at $27{\sim}37$ Gosner's developmental stages, we described morphological characteristics of the tadpoles of each anuran species and measured their physical parameters such as total length, body length, and body mass. After that, we chose 12 morphological characteristics to identify each species and to use them as classification keys such as eye location, caudal musculature pattern, spiracle location, oral disc morphology, and labial tooth row formula. In this paper, we presented classification keys, morphological characteristics, and drawings for the tadpoles of 12 anuran species.
