Result : After this treatment, symptoms of Tic-disorder and insomnia disappeared and The patient was emotionally stable. Conclusion : We had good effects in oriental medical treatments on Tic-disorder. And so this study requires further studies about Tic-disorders.
This paper suggests user's interface with computer by means of detecting gaze under HMD, head mounted display, environment. System is derived as follows; firstly, calibrate a camera in HMD, which determines geometrical relationship between monitor and captured image. Second, detect the center of pupil using algorithm of the center of mass and represent a gazing position on the computer screen. If user blinks or stares at a certain position for a while, message is sent to computer. Experimental results show the center of mass is robust against glint effects, and detecting error was 7.1%. and 4.85% in vertical and horizontal direction, respectively. To adjust detailed movement of a mouse takes 0.8 sec more. The 98% of blinking is detected successfully and 94% of clicking detection is resulted.

In applying LCD to TV application, one of the most significant factors to be improved is image sticking on the moving picture. LCD is different from CRT in the sense that it's continuous passive device, which holds images in entire frame period, while impulse type device generate image in very short time. To reduce image sticking problem related to hold typedisplay mode, we made an experiment to drive TN-LCD like CRT. We made articulate images by turn on-off backlight, and we realized the ratio of Back Light on-off time by counting between on time and off time for video signal input during 1 frame (16.7ms). Conventional CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) cannot follow fast on-off speed, so we evaluated new fluorescent substances of light source to improve residual light characteristic of CCFL. We realized articulate image generation similar to CRT by CCFL blinking drive and TN-LCD overdriving. As a result, reduced image sticking phenomenon was validated by naked eye and response time measurement.

This paper presents a new algorithm for estimating a driver's physical condition using real-time vision system and performs experimentation for real facial image data. The system relies on a face recognition to robustly track the center points and sizes of person's two pupils, and two side edge points of the mouth. The face recognition constitutes the color statistics by YUV color space together with geometrical model of a typical face. The system can classify the rotation in all viewing directions, to detect eye/mouth occlusion, eye blinking and eye closure, and to recover the three dimensional gaze of the eyes. These are utilized to determine the carelessness and drowsiness of the driver. Finally, experimental results have demonstrated the validity and the applicability of the proposed method for the estimation of a driver's physical condition.

Purpose: This study was assessed to investigate the change of subjective and/or objective symptoms and the light transmittance of lens caused by the use longer than recommended wearing time of daily disposable circle contact lenses (circle lens) in dry eyes. Methods: Three daily disposable circle lenses made of etafilcon A, hilafilcon B, and nelfilcon A were applied on 30 dry eyes with smaller tear volume than normal eyes in their twenties free from any eye diseases by when subjects complained any kind of discomfort. On the first and the last days of lens wearing, subjective discomfort, blinking rate, lens centration on corneal surface and visible light transmittance of lens were recorded at every case and compared. Results: The circle lens wearers complained subjective discomfort and quit the lens wearing when they wore the circle lens longer than 10 hours even though there were some difference according to the lens materials of daily disposable circle lens. However, around 20% of dry eyes could wear the circle lens made of non-ionic materials longer than 40 hours. Dry eyes showed most sensitive feeling of subjective discomfort against the circle lens made of etafilcon A among three different lens materials. On the last day of lens wearing, the representative subjective discomforts were irritation, stiffness, dryness and tiredness. When the subjects wore circle lens more than the recommended time, blinking rate was significantly increased about 20~30% regardless of lens materials when it compared with the values right after lens wearing. On the last day of lens wearing, the vertical direction of lens centration was shifted to pupil center however, its distribution in horizontal direction was wide compared with the distribution right after lens wearing. Especially, the centration of etafilcon A lens was unstable. Furthermore, the visible light transmittance of 3 different circle lenses in dry eyes has significantly been reduced around 15% averaged. Conclusions: From these results, it was known that the increase of dryness and stiffness caused by overusage of daily disposable circle lens induced excess irritation and decreased visible light transmittance and caused significant more blinking, which provoked lens decentration. It was also revealed that dry eyes showed sensitive reaction subjectively and objectively against the overusage of circle lens made of high water content/ionic lens material even there were some difference of the degree depending on the individual and the lens material. Thus, this research can be suggested as the basic reference for the education about some unexpected problems and the side effect caused by the wearing of circle lens in dry eyes.

Purpose: This study was assessed to investigate the change of subjective and/or objective symptoms and the light transmissibility of lens caused by over-usage of daily disposable circle contact lenses (circle lens). Methods: Three daily disposable circle lenses made of etafilcon A, hilafilcon B, and nelfilcon A were applied on 20 normal eyes free from any eye diseases by when subjects complained any kind of discomfort. On the first and the last days of lens wearing, subjective discomfort, blinking rate, non-invasive break-up time, lens centration on corneal surface and visible light transmissibility of lens were recorded at every case and compared. Results: The circle lens wearers complained discomfort when they wore the circle lens more than 15 hours, in excess of 8 hours being the recommended wearing time and the most circle lens wearers quit the lens wearing when they wore more than 30 hours. On the last day of lens wearing, the representative subjective discomforts were stiffness, dryness and tiredness. When the subjects wore circle lens more than the recommended time, a tendency of increased blinking rate and decreased NIBUT was observed when it compared with the values right after lens wearing. On the last day of lens wearing, the lens centration was shown to be decentrated from the pupil center compared with the centration right after the wearing. These changes in lens centration and blinking rate were consistently shown in all cases of lens wearing however, the difference in the degree of subjective and/or objective change was present depending on lens materials and subjects. The visible light transmissibility of circle lens has largely been changed. Conclusions: From these results, it was thought that the decreased NIBUT induced dryness and stiffness and decreased visible light transmissibility caused more blinking when daily disposable circle lens was exceedingly used, which provoked lens decentration and subjective discomfort. However, the difference of subjective and/or objective change was largely varied in accordance with the lens material types and individuality and thus it may occur some unexpected problems by the individual base. Therefore, the education about the necessity to comply with the recommended wearing time and the problem will be essential.

Objective:The objective of this study is to examine the clinical characteristics and behavioral comorbidity of patients with Tourette’s disorder. Method:Subjects consisted of 157 patients with Tourette’ disorder diagnosed by DSM-IIIR, who were examined and diagnosed from Jan. 1988 to May 1994 at the Tourette’s Clinic of Yonsei University Medical Center. Characteristics and behavioral comorbidity of Patients were assessed by a semi-structured interview schedule. Behavioral problems like hyperactivity, obsession-compulsion, self destructiveness, enuresis, sleep problem were assessed by global clinical impression. Results:The mean age of patients was 14.49(${\pm}7.99$) years. Patients consisted of 138 males (87.9%) and 19 females(12.1%). The sex ratio was 7:1, showing a male preponderance. The number of right-handers was 133(84.7%), and the number of non-right handers was 24(15.3%). Mean age of onset was 8.85(${\pm}4.56$) years, ranging from 2-to-16 years. More than half of the patients had their age of onset at 6-10 years. Bimodal peak in age of onset was observed;the first peak was around 6 and the second peak was around 10 years. There was no sex difference in bimodal age of onset. The most common initial symptom was eye blinking. More than 55% of patients reported eye blinking as their first symptom. The second common initial symptom was head turning and the third was vocal tic. The most common symptoms that patients reported on their first visit since onset were eye blinking(82.2%), head turning or nodding(57.9%), shoulder shrugging(52.7%) and forearm movement(32.6%). Of 157 cases, 101(64.3%) patients showed downward progression of symptoms, and 25(15.9%) showed upward progression of symptoms. Nineteen fathers(12%) of patients had a past history of obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD). Seventeen fathers(10.6%) had a history of tic disorder. SSevenmothers(4.5%) had OCD, 4 mothers (2.5%) had tic disorder. One hundred and eighteen patients(75.1%) had comorbid hyperactivity, 95 patients(60.5%) had obsession, 55 patiens(35.0%) had self destructiveness, 46 patients(29.3%) had impulsivity, and 35 patients(22.3%) had enuresis. Age of onset had a significant positive correlation with age, duration, and the global severity of obsession;and a negative correlation with the severity of hyperactivity. Hyperactivity had a significant positive correlation with impulsivity, obsession-compulsion, enuresis, and self destructiveness. Obsession-compulsion had a significant positive correlation with hyperactivity, sleep problems, and self destructiveness. Conclusion:These data suggest that clinical characteristcs and behavioral comorbidity of patients with Tourette’ disorder in this study are similar to previous research findings in Korea and other contries. The younger the age of onset was, the more severe hyperactivity was, and the less severe obsession-compulsion was. And severity of hyperactivity had a positive correlation with the severity of obsession-compulsion, impulsivity, enuresis, and self destructiveness.
Purpose: The purpose of this research was to see how wearing either a SCL or a C-SCL effected the dryness of a person's eye depending on how long they wear either type of lens. Methods: This study was carried out on 52 subjects (104 eyes) who were all in their twenties and had previously experienced wearing contact lenses. All of these subjects were required to wear either a SCL or a C-SCL, which were made out of the same material, for three months. Contents such as the McMonnies Questionnaire survey, the blinking rate per min. and the Noninvasive tear break-up time test (NIBUT) were later conducted on the subjects for this study. Results: According to the results of the McMonnies Questionnaire, it was concluded that the longer the subject wore the SCL and C-SCL, the value of the measurements gradually increased. On the other hand, the results from the NIBUT concluded that the longer the subject wore the SCL, the value of the measurements eventually decreased. However, according to the measurements of the blink rate test, it was concluded that neither results had a significant change. Conclusions: It was concluded that long-term wearing of SCL and C-SCL could be the cause of the induction and progression of dry eyes.
This is a case report of a patient with Tourett's disorder treated by Ukgan-san. We evaluated the patient Tourett's disorder by behavior and sound. His tic behaviors like eye blinking, shoulder shrugging, head jerking, facial frimace have been shown frequently, and His phonic tic symptoms like coughing, throat clearing, sniffing have been presented frequently, too. We diagnosed his condition as Wind-syndrome Caused by Hyperactivity of Liver-yang by patient's redish face, taut pulse, Left umbilical throb. So we treated the patient with Ukgan-san. and the score of Yale Global Tic Severity Scale(YGTSS) was 30 at the start of treatment. and the score of YGTSS was 3 at the end. We found that Ukgan-san was effective for the patient with Tourett's disorder.

Generally, there are two types of main factors to affect output power quality of a auxiliary power supply an EMU(electric multiple unit). One is a voltage flicker by amplitude modulation of short time and air compressors. The other is repetitive motion of large capacity motor such as air compressors, HVAC unit etc. in main factors. This paper compared two kinds of fluorescent lamp, 32W (after remodeling interior) and 40W(before remodeling interior) and measured the light output varying input power(AC220V) for a flicker phenomenon related power supply of lamps in EMU. Also, we analyzed a flicker considering EMU operating time and density in order to grasp main factors of a load change to cause a voltage change. As a results of test, a 40W fluorescent lamp was more insensitive with 20.26% degree an eye recognition degree sides about changes of the input power and lower with 19.9% voltage side generating flicker compare with fluorescent lamp 32W. Also, we confirmed the fact which the fluorescent lamp flicker was generated by varying fluorescent lamp output voltage when the commercial EMU was in high driving density and at the busy time. Additionally, we confirmed the frequency band which an EMU passenger could feel sensitively blinking of a fluorescent lamp was visually $8Hz{\sim}15Hz$.
