  • The beam extraction system for the KOMAC[1] (Korea Multi-purpose Accelerator Complex) project is to be designed to partially extract H ̄ beam at both 100 and 260 MeV This paper describes a simulation study of charge changing extraction with a stripper magnet and a possible design of a H$^{0}$ extractor by utilizing the simulation study The method consists of converting the negative hydrogen (H ̄) ion beam from the linac to a chosen intensity (0-100%) of neutral hydrogen (H$^{0}$ ) beam having an acceptable omittance and drifting it directly onto a stripper foil followed by a downstream beamline.

  • This paper proposes noun and affix extraction methods using conjunctive information for making an automatic indexing system thorugh morphological analysis and syntactic analysis. The korean language has a peculiar spacing words rule, which is different from other languages, and the conjunctive information, which is extracted from the rule, can reduce the number of multiple parts of speech at a minimum cost. The proposed algorithms also solve the problem that one word is seperated by newline charcter. We show efficiency of the proposed algorithms through the process of morhologica analyzing.

  • Our research goal has been the development of a domain independent natural language processing (NLP) system suitable for information retrieval. As part of that research, we have investigated ways to automatically extend the semantics of a lexicon derived from machine-readable lexical sources. This paper details the extraction of thematic roles derived from lexical patterns in a machine-readable dictionary.

  • In this paper, we propose a new a new EOST by using the optical JTC(joint transform correlator) as the feature extraction park, because the JTC can adaptively detect the relative displacements of moving targest. Firstly, we derive the BPEJCT(binary phase extraction JTC) which is a phase type JTC and can remove the intracless correlation peaks of the conventional JTC. Then, especially we hardware construction for driving the BPEJTC in real, and with the Kalman target estimation alogorithm, we carried out a target tracking experiment only to show the possibility of real-time implementation of the EOST.

  • Although an ideal low-pass filter is not physically realizable, it can be approximated on the basis of time reversal techniques. In this paper, we describe a method to approximately implement the ideal low-pass filter and apply it to the pitch extraction system. Experimental results show that our method is effective to estimate the fundamental frequency of the speech signal.

  • In this paper, we propose the method of iris lacuna extraction using watershed transform. Lacuna is salient feature of iris. It has three dimensional structure formed by leak of pigmentation and loss of fiber tissues. Lacuna can be used for iris recognition system, and generally used in health diagnosis and character analysis with its shape and position. The main idea of the proposed method is applying the watershed transform to radial gray scale profile of iris image. The result shows that the lacuna can be extracted automatically from eye image.

  • In this paper, we present a method to classify electromyogram (EMG) signals which are utilized to be control signals for patient-responsive walker-supported system for paraplegics. Patterns of EMG signals for dierent walking motions are classied via adequate filtering, real EMG signal extraction, AR-modeling, and modified self-organizing feature map (MSOFM). More efficient signal processing is done via a data-reducing extraction algorithm. Moreover, MSOFM classifies and determines the classified results are presented for validation.

  • A reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatogrphy (RP-HPLC) has been developed to analyze the metabolites of arachidonic acid based on the specificities of ultraviolet absorption of these various metabolites and is sensitive to the nanogram level. This procedure makes it possible to extract complex mixtures of eicosanoids efficiently with a single step and to analyze them simultaneously by RP-HPLC from biological samples using octadesylsilyl silica extraction column and $PGB_2$ as an internal standard. The cyclooxygenase products {prostaglandin $(PG)D_2,\;PGE_1,\;PGE_2,\;PGF_{1{\alpha}},\;PGF{2{\alpha}},\;6-keto-PGF_{1{\alpha}},$ and thromboxane $B_2(TXB_2)}$ and lipid peroxidation product, isoprostanes, of arachidonic acid were monitored by one isocratic HPLC system at 195 nm wavelength. The lipoxygenase products ${leukotriene(LT)B_4,\;LTC_4,\;LTD_4,$ and 5-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (5-HETE), 12-HETE, 15-HETE} were measured by another isocratic HPLC system at 280 nm for LTs and 235 nm for HETEs. This method provides a simple and reliable way to extract and assess quantitatively the final arachidonic acid metabolites.
