  • The purpose of this report was to evaluate the effect of Dental Electronic Anesthesia on pain inhibition for clinical use. The subject for this study were 30 children whose Frankl behavioral rate is positive. The subjects was divided into two groups, the first group described by control group and the second group described by experimental group anesthetized with Dental Electronic Anesthetic device. And then three kind of treatments were done : extraction of deciduous teeth, application of rubber dam, cavity preparation for preventive resin restoration. 3M Dental Electronic Anesthesia System was used for this study : its electric impulse stimulate the skin surface by external electrode pads. The results were as follows. 1. Degree of the pain & the apprehension decreased in experimental group. 2. Degree of the pain & the apprehension showed statistical differences among three treatments procedures in the control group but, not showed statistical differences in the experimental group.

  • Objectives The purpose of this study was to report the effects of treatments to traumatic subcutaneous hematoma on the shin using herbal medication and external application without venesection, which had no change in spite of previous 3 weeks medical conservative treatment so it had a risk of sepsis. Methods The patient diagnosed as Soyangin was prescribed with Yangkyuksanhwa-tang. The subcutaneous hematoma lesion was treated by external application of Daehwangchija-san(大黃梔子散). We evaluated the size of hematoma, pain and gait disturbance. Results and Conclusions Subcutaneous hematoma and relevant symptoms disappeared within 11 days of admission. Any kind of sequela did not show up and skin color was recovered after 4 month later follow-up.

  • Background : The purpose of this study is to analyze research trends on the korean medical treatment and develop the way of psoriasis cure. Object & Method : This study is based on analysis of recent paper about korean medical treatment of psoriasis using WKUCL(Wonkwang University Central Library) and NDSL(National Discovery for Science Leader). I searched papers using the keyword "Psoriasis". Inclusion criteria was last 13 years. Result : A total 19 studies were found. They turned out to be effective treatment methods of acupuncture, moxibustion, internal medicines, external applications, and evaluation tool of PASI(psoriasis area and severity index). Conclusion : According to the results, korean medical treatments have good effects on psoriasis. If we accumulate the more clinical reports, it will be helpful to map out a systematic treatment of korean medicine on psoriasis.

  • Congenital aural atresia is an ear malformation evident at birth, involving various degrees of failed external ear canal development. A true external ear canal is desirable, as devices that replace the canal are inconvenient and expensive. Therefore, an optimal surgical technique is required. Here, we review useful preoperative and operative techniques. Surgical correction is often not the preferred treatment; the hearing outcome is no better than the outcomes afforded by bone-conduction devices, and surgery may be associated with recurrence or complications such as meatal stenosis. Preoperative evaluation and appropriate management are important. Several means of preventing meatal stenosis are discussed in this review.

  • We have done various treatments of indium tin oxide (ITO) surface for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), and investigated the surface states by different surface treatments using atomic force microscopy (AFM) and Auger electron spectroscopy (AES). We have fabricated OLEDs deposited by ultra-high vacuum molecular beam deposition system and studied the characteristics of the OLEDs. We have observed the dramatical improvement of the performance of OLEDs fabricated on ITO substrates treated by $O_2$ plasma treatment reduces the carbon comtamination of ITO surfaces and increases the work function of ITO.

  • The purpose of this study was to review randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of pes anserinus tendinitis or bursitis (PATB) syndrome in the China National Knowledge Infrastructure database to investigate the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine treatment for PATB syndrome. There were 20 RCTs published from 2001 to 2021 which were selected for analysis by publication year, number of samples, evaluation criteria, treatment duration, and treatment method. Out of the 142 retrieved RCTs, 20 were relevant to this review, and had performed Chinese medicine treatments including acupuncture (the most common treatment typically using acupoints SP10, ST35, SP9, and LR8), manipulation (typically using acupoints ST35, SP10, and SP9), and external application therapy (typically herbal medicine) in the treatment of PATB syndrome. Chinese medicine treatments were used widely in the treatment of PATB syndrome. We hope in the future, this review may initiate the development of treatments for PATB syndrome using Korean medicine.

  • Ingrown toenails are most common among school-age children and adolescents though they can be observed at any age. Causes of ingrown toenails are increased curvature, trauma, and external pressure. Treatment of ingrown toenails can be broadly characterized as conservative and surgical. Conservative treatment can be performed using various methods, such as a gutter splint, dental floss, and cotton. Surgical treatments may be divided into two main approaches; narrowing of the nail plate and debulking of periungual tissues. However, these various conservative and surgical treatments have high recurrence rates, and thus, the author used a permanent surgical method based on the use of a paronychium flap to treat a 15-year-old male adolescent with excessive periungual tissues and curved ingrown toenails who did not improve despite conservative and several surgical treatments over 4 years. Subsequently, toenail shape was maintained without recurrence 22 months after surgery, and there were no complaints of inflammation or pain while walking. This simple surgical method can be performed on patients with advanced ingrown toenails due to excessive periungual tissues and nail curvature and can be expected to have permanent effects.

  • Purpose: This study identifies accident sequences from the past accidents in order to help the risk analysis application to the external radiotherapy. Materials and Methods: This study reviews 59 accidental cases in two retrospective safety analyses that have collected the incidents in the external radiotherapy extensively. Two accident analysis reports that accumulated past incidents are investigated to identify accident sequences including initiating events, failure of safety measures, and consequences. This study classifies the accidents by the treatments stages and sources of errors for initiating events, types of failures in the safety measures, and types of undesirable consequences and the number of affected patients. Then, the accident sequences are grouped into several categories on the basis of similarity of progression. As a result, these cases can be categorized into 14 groups of accident sequence. Results: The result indicates that risk analysis needs to pay attention to not only the planning stage, but also the calibration stage that is committed prior to the main treatment process. It also shows that human error is the largest contributor to initiating events as well as to the failure of safety measures. This study also illustrates an event tree analysis for an accident sequence initiated in the calibration. Conclusion: This study is expected to provide sights into the accident sequences for the prospective risk analysis through the review of experiences.
