Effect of Spinal Cord Removal before or after Splitting and Washing on CNST Decontamination of Beef Carcasses

  • Beef carcasses were examined to explore the effects of spinal cord removal and washing on central nervous system tissue (CNST) decontamination of the surface during the slaughtering process. A total of 15 carcasses were split by sawing centrally down the vertebral column and left sides of split carcasses were used for analysis. Samples were collected by swabbing the surface from 4 defined parts on the interior and 4 on the exterior of carcasses from the abattoir and analyzed using an ELISA-based test. The results showed that automatic and manual spray washing decreased CNST contamination, especially on the interior ventral parts of carcass surfaces (p<0.01), but did not decrease CNST on the interior dorsal parts. Increasing washing time to 60 s did not affect the reduction of CNST contamination. Samples following spinal cord removal prior to splitting showed lower calculated levels of "risk material" than the stated limit of detection (0.1%) of the ELISA kit on interior and exterior carcass parts (p<0.01). Therefore, spinal cord removal prior to splitting could be a very effective way to minimize CNST contamination of beef carcasses.

Effect of Anchorage on Strength of Precast R/C Beam-Column Joints

  • Recently, there is a great demand for precast reinforced concrete (RC) construction methods on the purpose of simplicity in construction. Nishimatsu Construction Company has developed a construction method with precast reinforced concrete members in medium-rise building. In this construction method, how to joint precast members, especially the anchorage of the main bar of beam, is important problem. In this study, the structural performance of exterior joints with precast members was investigated. The parameters of the test specimens are anchorage type of the main bar of beam (U-shape anchorage or anchorage plate) and the ratio of the column axial force to the column strength. Specimens J-3 and J-4 used U-shape anchorage and the ratio of the column axial force of specimen J-4 was higher. On the other hand, specimens J-5 and J-6 used anchorage plate, and the anchorage lengths are 15d and 18d, respectively. Experimental results are summarized as follows; 1) For the joints with beam flexural failure mode, it was found that the maximum strength of specimen with anchorage plate is equal to or larger than that of specimen with conventional U-shaped anchorage if the anchorage length of more than 15d would be ensured, 2) Each specimen shows stable hysteretic curves and there were no notable effects on the hysteretic characteristics and the maximum strength caused by the anchorage method of beam main bar and the difference of column axial stress level.

51 mm 대구경 철근을 사용한 외부 보-기둥 접합부의 정착상세별 구조성능 평가 (Structural Performance of Beam-Column Connections Using 51 mm Diameter with Different Anchorage Details)

  • 외부 보-기둥 접합부에서는 철근정착을 위해 갈고리철근 사용하고 있으며, 철근과밀배근 해소와 시공작업의 어려움으로 확대머리철근의 사용이 증가하고 있다. SD600 51 mm 확대머리철근을 사용할 경우 ACI318-14 및 KCI2012기준에서 사용을 제한하고 있다. 이번 연구에서는 외부 보-기둥 접합부 내에 고강도 대구경 철근의 확대머리 철근의 사용이 가능하도록 실험 60 MPa, 80 MPa 콘크리트강도로 제작된 실험체의 정착상세별 구조성능을 평가하였다. 모든 실험체에서는 보의 휨항복파괴가 발생하였으며, 실험체의 모멘트-변위 곡선에서 비슷한 양상을 보였다. 다른 실험체보다 갈고리가 한쪽방향으로 배근한 실험체에서는 갈고리철근 배근방향에 의해 전단저항능력이 달라지므로 3.5%변위비 이후에 부착응력 감소가 더 크게 나타났으며, 전단변형능력도 더 크게 나타났다. 실험체의 내진성능을 확인하기 위하여 ACI374.1-05기준과 비교하였으며, 실험결과 충분한 내진성능을 확보하였다. 이를 통하여 외부 보-기둥 접합부에서 SD600, 51 mm 확대머리철근의 사용이 가능한 것으로 판단된다.

Upgrading flexural performance of prefabricated sandwich panels under vertical loading

  • 3-D wall panels are used in construction of exterior and interior bearing and non-load bearing walls and floors of building of all types of construction. Fast construction, thermal insulation, reduced labor expense and weight saving are the most well pronounced advantage of such precast system. When the structural performance is concerned, the main disadvantage of 3D panel, when used as floor slab, is their brittleness in flexure. The current study focuses on upgrading ductility and load carrying capacity of 3D slabs in two different ways; using additional tension reinforcement, and inserting a longitudinal concentrated beam. The research is carried on both experimentally and numerically. The structural performance in terms of load carrying capacity and flexural ductility are discussed in details. The obtained results could give better understanding and design consideration of such prefabricated system.

성능개량 항공기의 기체구조물 개조 및 장착설계 (Modification and Installation Design of Airframe Structures for Performance Improved Aircraft)

  • 본 논문은 항공기의 성능개량에 필수 수반되는 신규 및 변경 장비 장착부에 기체구조물 개조 및 장착설계를 수행한 연구이다. 항공기 외부에 장착되는 대표적인 성능개량 장비로는 안테나, 레이더, 전자광학/적외선 표적지시장치(EO/IR) 및 자체방어체계 장비 등이 있으며, 운용을 위해서 기본항공기의 구조보강, 개조 및 장착설계가 수행된다. 항공기 내부에는 사용자 운용 요구도에 맞게 콘솔과 랙 구조물이 개조 또는 추가된다. 또한 성능개량을 위해 교체 및 추가되는 장비의 장착설계와 이에 따른 내부 냉각을 위한 환경제어계통 구성품 개조가 수반된다. 성능개량 항공기의 구조건전성, 운용성 및 정비성이 확보된 기체구조물의 상세설계로 감항 적합성이 검증된 엔지니어링 과정과 사례를 제시하였다.

다중반사를 고려한 함정의 외부 탑재 장비 최적배치 연구 (A Study on Stealth Design for Exterior Equipment Arrangement Considering the Multi-Bounce Effect)

  • 함정 외부 탑재 장비의 복잡한 형상에 의해서 발생하는 다중반사는 경로를 예측하기 어렵고 높은 RCS(Radar Cross Section)의 원인이 된다. 따라서 함정의 외부 탑재 장비의 최적배치 설계가 RAS(Radar Absorbing Structure) 방법으로 고려되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 함정 외부 탑재 장비에서 발생하는 다중반사와 RCS를 최소화하기 위하여 함정 외부 탑재 장비 최적배치를 수행하였다. 외부 탑재 장비 최적배치에 사용된 알고리즘은 순차적 내림차순 방법을 이용하였다. 함정 외부 탑재 장비 최적배치를 수행하기 위하여 LCS-2 type을 해석 모델로 선정하였다. 계산 비용을 줄이기 위해서 장비의 기여도 분석 및 다중반사 경로 분석 등을 통해 최적 배치를 수행할 장비를 선정하였고 최적배치를 통해 RCS가 최소가 되는 최적배치 위치를 도출하였다. 또한 RCS 변화에 따른 레이다의 탐지거리 변화율을 이용하여 RCS 감소효과를 분석 하였다.

고기능성 외벽용 수성 아크릴계 도료의 균열 대응성 및 방수 특성 평가 연구 (A Study on the Crack Response and Waterproof Properties of High-Functional Water-Based Acrylic Paints for Exterior Walls)

  • 본 연구에서는 콘크리트 구조물 외벽에서 발생하는 균열 대응 및 수밀성 향상 목적으로 특수하게 개발된 탄성 방수성 도료와 일반 수성 페인트를 대상으로 비교시험을 진행하였으며, 이를 통해 탄성 방수성 도료의 성능 향상 정도를 확인하였다. 비교실험 결과, 균열 차폐성 확보를 통해 수밀성 향상이 가능한 것으로 확인하였으며, 일반 수성 페인트 대비 약 10배 이상의 균열 대응성을 확보한 것으로 확인하였다. 또한, 최소 1.3MPa의 부착성능 및 0.1MPa의 투수압에도 저항이 가능한 것으로 확인하여 방수적 측면에서 안정성을 확보한 것으로 확인하였다.

국내외 발열의류의 디자인 요소 및 발열시스템 분석 (Analysis of Design Elements and Heating System of Domestic and Foreign Commercial Electrical Heated Clothing)

  • This study aimed to examine the appearance of heated clothing in relation to fashion trends by analyzing constructive components of clothing using product images and actual products. A total of 91 images of domestic and foreign heated clothing products were collected, and a product analysis conducted with six parameters of item classification, namely, concept and image, silhouette, color, number of heating elements, and heating parts. In addition, an in-depth analysis was carried out with 11 products among them, while focusing on further detailed components of the design and heating system. As a result, the overall exterior design of domestic products has been changed from outdoor clothing to daily clothing reflecting the current design trend. Compared with domestic products, foreign products showed a diverse assortment and a greater number of heating regions per individual item of clothing. The current heating system commonly consists of a heating element, power source, controller board, and wires, although the existence and type of switches differed from product to product. To develop a more efficiently heated clothing to expand the market, the design, ease of use, safety, consumer preference, heating functionality, and durability should be considered. Along with design recommendations for future heated clothing, this study also provides a practical guide to the technical aspects of the design of the components of heated clothing.

다층세라믹 콘덴서에서 생성된 크랙의 관찰과 분석 (Investigation and Analysis of Cracks in Multi-layer Ceramic Capacitor)

  • For the Y5V characteristic MLCC which is very prone to crack, it is important to to find out the basic cause of the crack. After finding out the crack origin, the materials and processes should be developed to remove the crack. The microstructures of the cracks were investigated using the fractographic method for the various types of cracks such as an exterior crack, a cyclic thermal shock crack, and an piezo-electric crack. It was found out that the crack origin was the pore at the end of the Ni inner electrode after bake-out. Even though the three dimensional crack shapes were different, the crack origins were seemed to be similar. The exterior crack could grow from the origin with the aids of residual and applied stress. FEM (finite element method) analysis was used to calculate the stress distribution of residual and applied stress. And the concept of fracture mechanics was applied for the explanation of the crack initiation and propagation from the stresses concentration.

Seismic performance evaluation of an external steel frame retrofit system

  • In this study a steel moment frame system to be installed on the exterior surface of an existing structure is proposed as a seismic retrofit device. The seismic performance of the retrofit system was investigated by installing it on the exterior of a single story single bay reinforced concrete frame and testing it under cyclic loading. The cyclic loading test results indicated that the steel frame significantly enhanced the strength and ductility of the bare structure. Finite element analysis was carried out to validate the test results, and it was observed that there was good agreement between the two results. An analytical model was developed in order to apply the retrofit system to an example structure subjected to seven mainshock-aftershock sequential earthquake records. It was observed that the model structure was severely damaged due to the mainshock earthquakes, and the seismic response of the model structure increased significantly due to the subsequent aftershock earthquakes. The seismic retrofit of the model structure using the proposed steel frame turned out to be effective in decreasing the seismic response below the given limit state.
