  • In the reactive concentric resonator, perforated inner tubes are widely used for various purposes related to noise reduction, flow guiding, and structural aspects. Perforation distribution patterns influence both the acoustic performance and mechanical performance. In this study, the influence of distribution patterns on acoustic performance are explained by adopting the concept of extended inlet/outlet length. Predicted transmission with varying extended inlet/outlet length is compared with prediction by varying distribution patterns. The transmission loss difference due to perforation distribution patterns can be explained by changing the extended inlet/outlet length of the uniformly perforated resonator.

  • In this paper, we study an extended warranty model under minimal repair-replacement warranty (MRRW) which is suggested by Park, Jung and Park (2013). Under MRRW policy, the manufacturer is responsible for providing the minimal repair-replacement services upon the system failures during the warranty period. And if the failure occurs during the extended warranty period, only the minimal repair is conducted. Following the expiration of extended warranty, the user is solely responsible for maintaining the system for a fixed length of time period and replaces the system at the end of such a maintenance period. During the maintenance period, only the minimally repair is given for each system failure. The main purpose of this article is to suggest the extended warranty and replacement model with MRRW. Given the cost structures incurred during the life cycle of the system, we formulate the expected cost and the expected length of life cycle to obtain the expected cost rate.

  • In this study, the electrical characteristic of Symmetric high voltage MOSFET (SHVMOSFET) for display driver IC were investigated. Measurement data are taken over range of temperature (300K-400K) and various extended drain length. In high temperature condition(>400K), drain current decreased over 20%, and specific on-resistance increased over 30% in comparison with room temperature.

  • Good performance of spectral-amplitude-coding optical CDMA can be obtained using codes based upon Hadamard matrices, but Hadamard codes have very restrictive code lengths of $2^n$. In this paper a new code family, namely extended Hadamard code, is proposed to relax the code length restriction and the number of simultaneous users. The improved performance of the proposed system is analysed with the consideration of phase-induced intensity noise(PIIN).

  • An extended Steiner triple system of order v, denoted by ESTS(v), is said to be (f, k)-rotational if it admits an automorphism consisting of exactly f fixed elements and k cycles of length (equation omitted). In this paper, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of (f,2)-rotational extended Steiner triple systems with f=2 and f=3.

  • An empirical acoustic impedance model of acoustic resonators with extended neck at a high sound pressure environment is proposed. The acoustic resonator with extended neck into its cavity is appropriate for the launcher fairing application because the length of neck does not increase the total height of the resonator. This enables one to design slim and light acoustic resonators for launch vehicles. The suggested acoustic impedance model considers the incident pressure and geometric variables(the neck length, the perforation ratio and the hole diameter) in terms of non-dimensional variables. Several acoustic resonators with extended neck are manufactured and their wall impedances are measured according to the pre-defined incident pressure levels. Effects of non-dimensional variables on the non-linear acoustic impedance are investigated so that a simple non-linear impedance model for the launcher fairing application can be proposed. It is demonstrated that the estimated acoustic resistance and acoustic length correction show reasonable agreement with the measured ones within the range of design parameters for launcher fairings.

  • A result of Hardy and Littlewood relates Holder continuity of analytic functions in the unit disk with a bound on the derivative. Gehring and Martio extended this result to the class of uniform domains. We call it the Hardy-Littlewood property. Langmeyer further extended their result to the class of John disks in terms of the inner length metric. We call it the Hardy-Littlewood property with the inner length metric. In this paper we give several properties of a domain which satisfies the Hardy-Littlewood property with the inner length metric. Also we show some results on the Holder continuity of conjugate harmonic functions in various domains.

  • An numerical study was conducted on superdetonative mode ram accelerator with length extended combustor. The computation condition was based on ISL's RAMAC30 II S225 experiment. For 50% length increased combustor, flame is not sustained. For the case of 60% and 70% increase, flame is successfully sustaind. But detonation wave is oscillating and acceleration is fluctuating. Extention of combustor is helpful for sustaing detonation wave but it may cause unstart.

  • Postural instability can increase the likelihood of hazardous slip and fall accidents in workplaces. The present study intended to extend understanding of the effect of abnormal neck posture on postural control during quiet standing. The effect of body fatigue on the postural control was also of primary concern. Twelve healthy undergraduate students volunteered to participate in the experiment. Standing on a force platform with the neck neutral, flexed, extended, or rotated, subjects' center of pressures (COP) were measured under the two levels of body fatigue. For the fatigue condition, Subjects exercised in a treadmill to meet the predetermined level of body fatigue. Analyzing the position coordinates of COPs, the length of postural sway path was assessed in both medio-lateral (ML) axis and anterior-posterior (AP) axis. Results showed that, in AP direction, neck extension or rotation significantly increased the sway length as compared with neck neutral. Neck extension led to greater sway length compared to neck rotation. Neck flexion did not differ from neck neutral. The sway length in the AP direction also became significantly larger as the body fatigue accumulated after treadmill exercise. In ML direction, as compared to neutral posture, the neck extension, flexion, or rotation did not significantly affect the length of postural sway path. However, the sway length seemed to increase marginally with the neck extended during the fatigued condition. This study demonstrates that abnormal neck posture may interfere with postural control during standing. The ability to maintain postural stability decreases significantly with the neck extended or rotated. Body fatigue leads to postural instability further.
