Contemporary design environment is formed with image-centered trend based on pluralism. In this point of view, enterprises' building lobbies are public places containing the equivocal meaning, actively utilizing light as a design element to express the image of enterprises' identifications. Light is an immaterial entity having unlimited possibilities and potentials on space. It also acts as media to activate spaces and create new images in connection with formative elements of space. This study is to figure out how lightings are expressed and affected the formative characteristics of office lobby spaces and activate the specific characteristics of spaces. As a result, we drew conclusions as follows. First, as state-of-the-art technology and media are introduced, light is expressed on spaces as floating, direction, rhythm, silhouette, metaphor and allusion, sense of depth and volume. Second, expressive aspects of light in lobby space are embodiment of light, substantiation of immateriality, standing of materiality from the perspective of spatial aesthetics, and distortion/transformation of shape, pluralism phenomena of space from the perspective of spatial structure. In this way, light on building lobbies which are greatly required design differentiation strategy, specializes space and also integrates all the designs as not only a functional element but also a mental, psychological, formative element. Consequently, light on lobby spaces induces communication between spaces and users, makes formative value of existence in itself, and presents the characteristics of differentiated enterprises' identities.

Objectives: Adolescent depression is a complex disorder influenced by a variety of personal and familial factors. In this study, we compared the familial, cognitive, and behavioral characteristics of adolescents with and without diagnosed depression. Methods: Forty adolescents with depressive disorder were recruited from two psychiatric clinics, along with 46 healthy adolescents from a middle school and a high school. We then compared the participants' cognitive and behavioral characteristics and the child-rearing attitudes of their parents. Results: Compared to the healthy adolescents, the adolescents with depression exhibited lower self-esteem, higher emotional reappraisal, greater disruptive behavior, and lower attention. Furthermore, compared to the mothers of the healthy adolescents, the mothers of those with depression reported less affective, less autonomic, and more rejecting parenting attitudes towards their children. Conclusion: We found that attentional problems, negative parenting attitudes, negative self-cognition, and expressive suppression are all associated with adolescent depression. Parenting education and interventions appear to be needed to correct the negative cognitions of adolescents with depression.

This study is an attempt to explore the expressive techniques and characteristics of tie-dye shown in the contemporary fashion. In doing so, the study conducted a literature review and analyzed the works show cased for 2001S/S through 2010F/W, especially from the "big four" collections in Paris, Milan, New York and London. In the contemporary fashion, tie-dye techniques such as tying, folding and sewing are used in an independent or combined manner to express unique images. They also highlight decorative images in combination with a variety of decorative techniques including draping, pleating, beading. In light of its characteristics, tie dye expresses unique formative aesthetics with diverse patterns and creates more gorgeous images than when many different colors are used for dyeing. The dyeing process works as a critical factor influencing the overall image of design, as it is expressed as a pattern by being applied on the whole of an item rather than in part of clothes. The characteristics of tie-dye techniques used in the contemporary fashion are associated with the expressions of natural beauty, abstract decorative beauty, and dynamic rhythmical beauty.

The aim of this study is to understand the plan characteristics used in unit floor planning mainly with examples of mixed-use residential tall buildings. The study will extract plan characteristics mainly using the graph expressive technique with essential information of the zoning function of residential space, rather than merely analyzing the various construction floor plans by type. The research method involves studying a group of 50-story buildings (over 200 meters) which were built between 2002 and 2008. Among 6 high-rise residential buildings case, we extract the most preferred type from 34 types, And then we simply classify rooms in 3 zoning, the master, living and children's zones. Finally we analyze the correlation among 3 simple zone and then extract some model type. The results of this study revealed three main findings. First, using the 3 functional zones, the shape of the main building and the unit floor plan can be analyzed simply even when they appear to be complicated. Second, we can extract common features when we analyze the unit floor plan from the viewpoint of the penetrability among 3 zoning. Third, we can extract 2 types when we analyze the unit floor plan from the viewpoint of 3 connected functional zoning concepts.

The purpose of this study is to express visual and functional diversity through modifiable design, and to suggest a methodological model. With this view, this study was aimed to departmentalize the case of knitwear in modifiable design of clothes and propose the possibility of variable knit fashion through make the most of knit's characteristics. Four wearable physical clothes using the most of flexible knits' characteristics were made for this study based on the modifiable design on the expressive tendency and analysis of plasticity. The following results were obtained. First, as modifiable knit design can create effects of several dresses in visual aspect and functional aspect, so it has practicality and functionality. Because modifiable clothes required wearer's participation, this have amusement that give enjoyment and freshness to wearer. Second, in mode of wearing, flexibility of knit is suitable character to open & close and change of wearing position. In manipulation, a prearranged plan for line of clothes and good choice of subsidiary materials are important. Third, the characteristics of knits allow using and mixing with different pattern and materials on the two sides of the same cloths except for the some of the parts. Moreover, there is no unraveled thread on the part of knits margin against woven, so it has the broad applicable range for the changeable design. Finally, the form and function, a prearranged plan for modifiable design of clothes have all contributed in creating new structure and patterns in design.

The current and ethnic issues represented in child-rearing practices of Korean-Chinese families in YanBian, China, were studied with the participation of 7 primary caregivers (4 mothers and 3 grandmothers) of young children who were interviewed and observed in their homes. Current issues were categorized as competitive bilingual ability, expectations about third language learning (English), expectations of high academic accomplishment and early education, and economic challenges in parenting. Ethnicity issues included ethnic pride as Korean-Chinese, conflicts of ethnic education, participation in local Korean culture, and rearing the child to have the self-expressive and assertive characteristics of typical Korean children. Results were discussed in terms of understanding and supporting child-rearing of minorities and families with multi-cultural background.

Current architecture can receive support of and command various ways of expression by more advanced technology of the present time, this means the formation of changeable external design of building, and has the tendency to be interactive non-rheological shape. Accordingly surface of building is decorated not only by the basic function and the expression of information, but also by complex narrative image structure or text, so far as recognizes human as the subject of communication, and is trying the artistic expression interacting with the general public. In various expressive tendency of current architecture surface design, such an approach from a view of an interactive art trying the communication between architecture, art, and human has the meaning of suggesting the direction of directing emotional architecture giving a present to the morderners who are growing more and more an earnest desire for experiencing culture and art in their daily life.

Tradition is defined as cultural qualities of a regional social group a race, which is transmitted from generation to generation through history. Its contents include human behavior as well as the outcomes from the human behavior and a culture is materialized by means of fullfil fundamental aspiration, in order to co-exist human being and society.This research has considered an architectural space which both show a Korean traditional architecture and modern architectural space, incliding Korean nature under a sort of cultural expression.Also, expressive qualities which are shown within a space as a medium, there is more consideration of method to embody Korean nature into an interior space.There is a subject related to traditional expression of what the real essence of tradition is. In addition, it is a matter of what the method of expression is in order to accomodate, inherit and express the pulse of tradition.

The recognition of emotionality becomes so important that it is called' emotional consumption society'. Emotional design, which is mostly concern about user's consensus & experiences and in the space, is appeared on commercial place. Emotional design is understanded from a Interactive point of view, human and interior-space. The purpose of this study is to examine the emotional design by analysis of multiple-commercial-functioned shopping places. Specially, the most recently remarkale Jerde partnership's shopping space in Japan. Jerde partnership' project theme is creative experience by making place and experience design. Though, they weren't claim to stand for emotional design, but presented an emotional element in the shopping mall works.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the facets of gender role identity as reported by several disciplines undergraduate female college students, and to confirm the characteristics and differences according to the types. Methods: A Q sort methodology was utilized to gather responses to gender role identity. Forty subjects' responses were analyzed by QUANL PC program. Results: The subject responses were classified into four gender role patterns: 1) paternity-sensitive type, 2) conviction-sensitive type, 3) sensibility-inhibitive type and 4) sensibility-expressive type. Conclusion: The findings add to the understanding of women college students and their perception of their gender role identify. Further studies need to be done to understand how the four patterns relate to success or satisfaction for female college students.
