To evaluate the antitumor activity, antimetastatic and radioprotective effects of Kamisasammaekmundongtang(KSMT), studies were done experimentally. The results were obtained as follows: 1. In cytotoxicity against P388, A549 and B16-F10, KSMT was not showed satisfiable cytotoxicity as compared with control. 2. In Inhibitory effect on activity of DNA topoisomerase I, KSMT has strong inhibitory effect. 3. The inhibitory effect on adhesion of A549 to complex extracellular matrix was significantly increased at 0.5mg/ml, 1mg/ml of KSMT. 4. The T/C% was 122 in KSMT treated group in S-180 bearing ICR mice. 5. In antiangiogenetic effect on CAM assay, inhibitory rate was 33% in KSMT treated group. 6. In pulmonary colonization assay, a number of colonies in the lungs were decreased significantly in KSMT treated group as compared with control group. 7. By FACS analysis of splenic leukocyte after exposure to radiation by linear accelerator, T-helper cell, B cell and macrophage in KSMT treated group were significantly increased while splenocytes were decreased in control group. 8. In histological changes of jejunum of $Bald{\setminus}C$ mice after exposure to radiation by linear accelerator, exclusion and fusion of villi were decreased as compared with control group. But in duodenum and ileum, exclusion and fusion of villi were not decreased as compared with control group. 9. WBC, PLT were increased in KSMT treated group as compared with control group after exposure to radiation by linear accelerator, but the increasing effect was not significant. Above results suggest that KSMT may be useful in prevention of cancer metastasis and protection from damage by radiotherapy. But the further study of KSMT would be demanded.
The ecotoxicological effects of 4-tert-octylphenol were observed on non-biting midge, Chironomus plumosus collected from Anyang stream in Seoul. The survival rate and adult emergence rate on C. plumosus exposed to octylphenol were not significantly affected. However, 4-tert-octylphenol induced developmental delay and disrupted sex ratio in high concentration of octylphenol. The mouth deformity such as tooth deletion or fusion in mentum, and tooth deletion in mandible were observed exposure to 4-tert-octylphenol. The deformity type of the mentum showed deletion (LT, 6.7%), and fusion (LT, 6.3%). Moreover, tooth deletion of mandible was observed in 4-tert-octylphenol treated groups (6.7%, 3 ppm).
Rockfish, Sebastes schlegeli (total length; $10.36{\pm}0.49cm$, total weight; $16.28{\pm}1.86g$, N; 290) were exposed to various concentrations of naphthalene for 28 days. Exposure concentrations of naphthalene established control, ethanol (solvent) control, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 mg Nap $L^{-1}$. After exposure, We observed survival rate, and degree of tissue change (DTC) in gill under optical microscopy. Survival rate of the rockfish was more than 90% in control, ethanol control, 0.5 and 1.0 mg Nap $L^{-1}$, whereas it decreased in 1.5 and 2.0 mg Nap $L^{-1}$ (respectively 80%, 62.2%). In histological observation of gill, hyperplasia of epithelial cells observed in all exposure groups. But no showed increase of DTC which was related to concentration. Whereas, DTC at fusion of gill lamellar, lamellar telangiectasia, stasis, aneurysm and necrosis showed dose dependent increase. Especially, fusion of gill lamellar, lamellar telangiectasia and stasis observed at more 1.0 mg Nap $L^{-1}$, and aneurysm and necrosis at more 1.5 mg Nap $L^{-1}$. These results showed naphthalene caused survival and severe change to the gill of the rockfish which was related to exposure concentration.
Unstabilized low-density polyethylene (LDPE) films and films formulated with hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) were exposed to UV-radiation; and the physicochemical changes during photooxidation processes have been investigated using tensile, FTIR spectre-photometric and thermal analytical (DSC) techniques. The dependence of tensile properties (elongation- and stress-at-break), carboxyl index and heat of fusion on UV-irradiation time have been discussed. The use of HALS is found to be effective in maintaining the UV-mechanical properties of the LDPE films. The experimental results showed that there exists no correlation between mechanical properties and carbonyl index, whereas crystallinity correlates well with carbonyl index in unstabilized and stabilized films for irradiation times greater than 100 h. The rate of formation of carbonyl groups is found to be dependent on UV exposure time. Crystallinity of the film samples is strongly influenced by both exposure time and presence of HALS.
Rapamycin, known as an inhibitor of Target of Rapamycin (TOR), is an immunosuppressant drug used to prevent rejection in organ transplantation. Despite the close association of the TOR signaling cascade with various scopes of metabolism, it has not yet been thoroughly investigated at the metabolome level. In our current study, we applied mass spectrometric analysis for profiling primary metabolism in order to capture the responsive dynamics of the Chlamydomonas metabolome to the inhibition of TOR by rapamycin. Accordingly, we identified the impact of the rapamycin treatment at the level of metabolomic phenotypes that were clearly distinguished by multivariate statistical analysis. Pathway analysis pinpointed that inactivation of the TCA cycle was accompanied by the inhibition of cellular growth. Relative to the constant suppression of the TCA cycle, most amino acids were significantly increased in a time-dependent manner by longer exposure to rapamycin treatment, after an initial down-regulation at the early stage of exposure. Finally, we explored the isolation of the responsive metabolic factors into the rapamycin treatment and the culture duration, respectively.
In order to investigating the pulmonary toxicity of the O-chlorobenzyledene malononitrile (CS), lacrimating agent, $2.6g/m^3$ of CS was inhalated to Sprague-Dawley rats in the plastic chamber for 20 minutes. The ultrastructural changes of type II pneumocytes in the lung were observed with Hitachi 600 transmission electron microscope. The results obtained were as follows: 1. 3 hours after exposure to CS the fusion of surface microvilli, dilatation of cristernae of the rough endoplasmic reticulum, atrophy of Golgi complex and condensation, deletion of lamellated membranes in lamellar bodies were observed in type II pneumocytes. 2. One and 2 days after CS-exposure, disorganization of mitochondrial double membranes, fragmentations of rough endoplasmic reticulum were found in the great alveolar cells. In addition, decrease in amount of polyribosome granules and deletion or condensation of lamellated membranes in lamellar bodies were also observed. 3. 4 days after exposure to CS, the type II pneumocyte revealed new whorled lamellar membranes in lamellar bodies, a few intact rough endoplasmic reticulum and restoration of polyribosome granules. It is consequently suggested that CS induces degenerative changes of cytoplasmic organelles in the type II pneumocytes.
Generally, stereo pair images are necessary for 3D viewing. In the absence of quality stereo-pair images, it is possible to synthesize a stereo-mate suitable for 3D viewing with a single image and a depth-map. In remote sensing, DEM is usually used as a depth-map. In this paper, LiDAR data was used instead of DEM to make a stereo pair from a single aerial photo. Each LiDAR point was assigned a brightness value from the original single image by registration of the image and LiDAR data. And then, imaginary exposure station and image plane were assumed. Finally, LiDAR points with already-assigned brightness values were back-projected to the imaginary plane for synthesis of a stereo-mate. The imaginary exposure station and image plane were determined to have only a horizontal shift from the original image's exposure station and plane. As a result, the stereo-mate synthesized in this paper fulfilled epipolar geometry and yielded easily-perceivable 3D viewing effect together with the original image. The 3D viewing effect was tested with anaglyph at the end.

To evaluate radioprotective effects of Kamisagoonjatang(KST), Kamijihwangtang (KJT) and Kamigoonjajihwangtang(KKJT), studies were done experimentally. The results were obtained as follows: 1. By FACS analysis after exposure to radiation by Liniac, T cell and T-helper cell were significantly increased in KST treated group and also B cell and macrophage in KJT treated group while splenocytes were significantly decreased in control group. 2. WBC, PLT were significantly increased in KKJT treated group as compared with control group after exposure to radiation by Liniac. 3. In histological changes of jejunum of $BALB{\backslash}C$ mice after after exposure to radiation by Liniac, exclusion and fusion of villi were decreased in all groups as compared with control group. 4. In the observation of morphological changes by SEM and TEM after radiation by Liniac, KKJT, KJT and KST inhibited demage of internal structures such as mitochondria, ESR and golgi of jejunum cells in order as compared with control group. From above results it was concluded that KJT, KST and KKJT could be usefully applied for protection from damage by radiotherapy to cancer.

Objective : Percutaneous pedicle screw (PPS) fixation is a needle based procedure that requires fluoroscopic image guidance. Consequently, radiation exposure is inevitable for patients, surgeons, and operation room staff. We hypothesize that reducing the production of radiation emission will result in reduced radiation exposure for everyone in the operation room. Research was performed to evaluate reduction of radiation exposure by modifying imaging manner and mode of radiation source. Methods : A total of 170 patients (680 screws) who underwent fusion surgery with PPS fixation from September 2019 to March 2020 were analyzed in this study. Personal dosimeters (Polimaster Ltd.) were worn at the collar outside a lead apron to measure radiation exposure. Patients were assigned to four groups based on imaging manner of fluoroscopy and radiation modification (pulse mode with reduced dose) : continuous use without radiation modification (group 1, n=34), intermittent use without radiation modification (group 2, n=54), continuous use with radiation modification (group 3, n=26), and intermittent use with radiation modification (group 4, n=56). Post hoc Tukey Honest significant difference test was used for individual comparisons of radiation exposure/screw and fluoroscopic time/screw. Results : The average radiation exposure/screw was 71.45±45.75 µSv/screw for group 1, 18.77±11.51 µSv/screw for group 2, 19.58±7.00 µSv/screw for group 3, and 4.26±2.89 µSv/screw for group 4. By changing imaging manner from continuous multiple shot to intermittent single shot, 73.7% radiation reduction was achieved in the no radiation modification groups (groups 1, 2), and 78.2% radiation reduction was achieved in the radiation modification groups (groups 3, 4). Radiation source modification from continuous mode with standard dose to pulse mode with reduced dose resulted in 72.6% radiation reduction in continuous imaging groups (groups 1, 3) and 77.3% radiation reduction in intermittent imaging groups (groups 2, 4). The average radiation exposure/screw was reduced 94.1% by changing imaging manner and modifying radiation source from continuous imaging with standard fluoroscopy setting (group 1) to intermittent imaging with modified fluoroscopy setting (group 4). A total of 680 screws were reviewed postoperatively, and 99.3% (675) were evaluated as pedicle breach grade 0 (<2 mm). Conclusion : The average radiation exposure/screw for a spinal surgeon can be reduced 94.1% by changing imaging manner and modifying radiation source from real-time imaging with standard dose to intermittent imaging with modified dose. These modifications can be instantly applied to any procedure using fluoroscopic guidance and may reduce the overall radiation exposure of spine surgeons.
Factors influencing the fusion frequency of protoplasts were investigated with auxotrophic mutants of Pleurotus florida and Pleurotus ostreatus. Immediately after the polyethylene glycol (PEG) solution was added, the protoplasts adhered firmly and shrank. During the subsequent dilution with 0.6 M sucrose, the protoplasts regained their normal size and larger bodies were observed. Interspecific heterokaryons were obtained by fusion of the nutritionally complementing protoplasts. Hyphae of the heterokaryotic fusants formed true clamp connections. The optimum conditions were a total of 1 to 15 million protoplasts per ml, 30% polyethylene glycol 8000 solution with adjustment to pH 8.0 and 0.6 M sucrose stabilized regeneration medium. Other parameters such as $CA^{++}$, glycine, exposure time and temperature influenced mainly the viability of the protoplasts.
