Particle deposition on a semiconductor wafer larger than 100 mm with electrostatic effect (정전효과가 있는 100mm보다 큰 반도체 웨이퍼로의 입자침착)

  • Particle deposition on a semiconductor wafer larger than 100 mm was studied experimentally and numerically. Particularly the electrostatic effect on particle deposition velocity was investigated. The experimental apparatus consisted of a particle generation system, a particle deposition chamber and a wafer surface scanner. Experimental data of particle deposition velocity were obtained for a semiconductor wafer of 200 mm diameter with the applied voltage of 5,000 V and PSL particles of the sizes between 83 and 495 nm. The experimental data of particle deposition velocity were compared with the present numerical results and the existing experimental data for a 100 mm wafer by Ye et al. (1991) and Opiolka et al. (1994). The present numerical method took into consideration the particle transport mechanisms of convection, Brownian diffusion, gravitational settling and electrostatic attraction in an Eulerian frame of reference. Based on the comparison of the present experimental and numerical results with the existing experimental results the present experimental method for a 200 mm semiconductor wafer was found to be able to present reasonable data.

Analysis of Recent Trends on the Experimental Studies in Acupuncture and Moxibustion Papers (침구관련 실험연구 논문 동향 분석)

  • The aim of the study was to analyze recent trends of experimental studies regarding to acupuncture and moxibustion (AM) through reviewing the 492 papers in the PubMed database in order to help researchers from overlapping study on the same theme and to spur them to investigate experimental studies on AM with understanding the current flow of that. For the analysis, we include papers in which abstract was written in English. First, we performed quantitative analysis of the experimental studies using whole of the first filtrated 492 papers. From this analysis, we could obtain the followings: 'Trends of study in the most frequently appeared journals and leading authors in experimental study of AM'. 'The number of papers and name of journals by leading authors in experimental study of AM'. 'Trends of Korean papers in the most frequently appeared journals and Korean leading authors in experimental study of AM", 'Classification of experimental studies related to acupuncture and moxibustion according to intervention methods or individual country' and 'Assortment of experimental studies related to acupuncture and moxibustion in terms of intervention methods on leading countries'. Second, we collected 72 papers considering impact factor of the journal and influential effect of the papers' result for qualitative analysis, and we divided the papers into pain related one or not, because the effect of AM on pain is major subject of AM study. The results showed that experimental studies regarding to AM still has several weakness such as limited usage of acupuncture points and inclined application of electroacupucture even though there are 361 acupuncture points in the human body and various kinds of stimulation methods using traditional needles and moxibustion. Therefore, we suggest that researchers should pay more attention to the study on basic AM research creatively and systematically through strengthening and enhancing the cooperation among colleges, research institutes and hospitals. Moreover, in order to promote the basic research of the AM, it is required that we need cross-disciplinary research as well as international collaboration research.

Comparative Study for the Standardization of Grinding Equipment During Dry Grinding Process by Various Grinding Mills (다양한 매체형 분쇄기를 이용한 건식 분쇄공정에서 장비의 표준화를 위한 분쇄실험의 비교 연구)

  • The study of grinding behavior characteristics on the metal powders has recently gained scientific interest due to their useful applications to enhance advanced nano materials and components. This could significantly improve the property of new mechatronics integrated materials and components. So, a new evaluation method for standardizing grinding equipment and a comparative study for the grinding experiment during the grinding process with various grinding mills were investigated. The series of grinding experiments were carried out by a traditional ball mill, stirred ball mill, and planetary ball mill with various experimental conditions. The relationship between the standardization of equipment and experimental results showed very significant conclusions. Furthermore, the comparative study on the grinding experiment, which investigated changes in particle size, particle morphology, and crystal structure of materials with changes in experimental conditions for grinding equipment, found that the value of particle size distribution is related to the various experimental conditions as a revolution speed of grinding mill and media size.

Effects Analysis of Governmental Research Buildings by the Main Components and Frame Repair Activities (공공 연구원 건축물의 대수선에 따른 효과분석)

  • The research institute has a function to get the research outcome through the various experiments, data collection and analysis. Therefore, research building is important to keep the research condition or experiment environment. But buildings would be deteriorated and leaded into the deterrence of research. Maintenance is planned to protect the research building condition through various general repair or heavy repair. The heavy repair is generally conducted in massive repair scope or main components preparation. In this paper, it aimed at analyzing the effect of the massive or main components repair with inputted cost and its resulted output. In order to analyze the effect of a massive repair, it used the Benefit/Cost analysis and sensitivity analysis. Results of this study are as follows : The benefit/cost analysis shows that research building whose researcher continuously live and study has good effect. On the contrary, pace of the the experimental function is not good effect in benefit/cost analysis. But the experimental function is indispensible to get the research outcom for the research goal. Therefore, the experimental function will be planned to repair and get the historical repair data because the proper repair time would be prepared to cut down the repair cost.

  • The new experimental setup has been built at the 11b channel of the IBR-2 research reactor at FLNP, JINR, to study the elemental composition of samples by registration of prompt gamma emission during thermal neutron capture. The setup consists of a curved mirror neutron guide and a radiation-resistant HPGe high-purity germanium detector. The detector is surrounded by lead shielding to suppress the natural background gamma level. The sample is placed in a vacuum channel and surrounded by a LiF shield to suppress the gamma background generated by scattered neutrons. This work presents characteristics of the experimental setup. An example of hydrogen concentration determining in a diamond powder made by detonation synthesis is given and on its basis, the sensitivity of the setup is calculated being ~4 ㎍.

CORE THERMAL HYDRAULIC BEHAVIOR DURING THE REFLOOD PHASE OF COLD-LEG LBLOCA EXPERIMENTS USING THE ATLAS TEST FACILITY

  • Several experimental tests to simulate a reflood phase of a cold-leg LBLOCA of the APR1400 have been performed using the ATLAS facility. This paper describes the related experimental results with respect to the thermal-hydraulic behavior in the core and the system-core interactions during the reflood phase of the cold-leg LBLOCA conditions. The present descriptions will be focused on the LB-CL-09, LB-CL-11, LB-CL-14, and LB-CL-15 tests performed using the ATLAS. The LB-CL-09 is an integral effect test with conservative boundary condition; the LB-CL-11 and -14 are integral effect tests with realistic boundary conditions, and the LB-CL-15 is a separated effect test. The objectives of these tests are to investigate the thermal-hydraulic behavior during an entire reflood phase and to provide reliable experimental data for validating the LBLOCA analysis methodology for the APR1400. The initial and boundary conditions were obtained by applying scaling ratios to the MARS simulation results for the LBLOCA scenario of the APR1400. The ECC water flow rate from the safety injection tanks and the decay heat were simulated from the start of the reflood phase. The simulated core power was controlled to be 1.2 times that of the ANS-73 decay heat curve for LB-CL-09 and 1.02 times that of the ANS-79 decay curve for LB-CL-11, -14, and -15. The simulated ECC water flow rate from the high pressure safety injection pump was 0.32 kg/s. The present experimental data showed that the cladding temperature behavior is closely related to the collapsed water level in the core and the downcomer.

Effects of a Commercial Extruded Pellet on Growth Performance and Water Quality in Growing Olive Flounder Paralichthys olivaceus (육성기 넙치 배합사료의 성장 및 수질 평가)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of commercial extruded pellet (EP) diet on the growth and water quality compared with a raw fish moist pellet (MP) diet for flounder on field feeding experiments. Three replicate groups of 130 fish per each tank (initial weight of 380 g) were fed one of the EP and Moist pellet (MP) for 7 months. In field feeding experiment, no significant difference was observed in final mean weight of fish fed the experimental EP (1,233 g) and MP (1,237 g), and any noticeable problem caused by feeding the experimental EP was not found during the whole period of feeding trial. Feed efficiency of fish fed the experimental EP was higher than that of MP, and there was no significant difference in survival between the fish fed experimental EP and MP. The concentrations of SS, COD, TN and TP of seawater in tanks of MP groups were 1-5 times higher than those of EP groups. Therefore, these results strongly suggest that diet EP could be developed to replace MP diet for the marketable size of production for flounder without adverse effects on growth performance and water quality.

  • CRL (Communications Research Laboratory, Independent Administrative Institution, Japan) is developing ITS wireless communication technologies in millimeter-wave frequency region. Technologies are categorized for inter-vehicle communications (IVC) and road-vehicle communications (RVC). In this paper, system concepts and the experimental facilities are introduced. The experimental facility for inter-vehicle communications is gotten ready in 60 GHz frequency region and the experimental system for road-vehicle communications is based on RoF (Radio on Fiber) technology in 36-37GHz frequency region.

Bone regeneration effects of human allogenous bone substitutes: a preliminary study

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the bone regeneration effects of cortical, cancellous, and cortico-cancellous human bone substitutes on calvarial defects of rabbits. Methods: Four 8-mm diameter calvarial defects were created in each of nine New Zealand white rabbits. Freeze-dried cortical bone, freeze-dried cortico-cancellous bone, and demineralized bone matrix with freeze-dried cancellous bone were inserted into the defects, while the non-grafted defect was regarded as the control. After 4, 8, and 12 weeks of healing, the experimental animals were euthanized for specimen preparation. Micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) was performed to calculate the percent bone volume. After histological evaluation, histomorphometric analysis was performed to quantify new bone formation. Results: In micro-CT evaluation, freeze-dried cortico-cancellous human bone showed the highest percent bone volume value among the experimental groups at week 4. At week 8 and week 12, freeze-dried cortical human bone showed the highest percent bone volume value among the experimental groups. In histologic evaluation, at week 4, freeze-dried cortico-cancellous human bone showed more prominent osteoid tissue than any other group. New bone formation was increased in all of the experimental groups at week 8 and 12. Histomorphometric data showed that freeze-dried cortico-cancellous human bone showed a significantly higher new bone formation percentile value than any other experimental group at week 4. At week 8, freeze-dried cortical human bone showed the highest value, of which a significant difference existed between freeze-dried cortical human bone and demineralized bone matrix with freeze-dried cancellous human bone. At week 12, there were no significant differences among the experimental groups. Conclusions: Freeze-dried cortico-cancellous human bone showed swift new bone formation at the 4-week healing phase, whereas there was less difference in new bone formation among the experimental groups in the following healing phases.

EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN FOR PORT INVESTMENT ANALYSIS: A CASE STUDY IN A BULK TERMINAL (항만투자분석을 위한 실험계획법 : 산물터미널에서의 사례연구)

  • Experimental design in simulation provides an efficient way of economizing simulation runs since a considerable number of simulation runs that originally were planned can be reduced by this approach. This experimental design method is an active area of research together with the output analysis and so no single panacea seems to exist so far. Thus, selection of techniques of experimental design and output analysis more lithely depends upon the objective of simulation analysis, budget constraint and sometimes the analysts subjective judgment. This paper attempts to describe an experimental design methodology for port investment analysis using a case study in a bulk terminal in Korea. Detailed display will be focused on simulation period, warm-up period, the number of replications needed in production runs after brief explanation on the system configuration.
