Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of a simulated disability program on attitude and stereotyping by nursing students toward people with disabilities. Methods: A total of 107 undergraduate nursing students attended and completed pre-and post-questionnaires on attitude and stereotyping. The experimental group participated in a simulation exercise program which was composed of wheel-chair mobility and vision modification in Nam-won Rehabilitation Center. The data were analyzed by the SPSS 12.0 program including frequency, percentage, ${\chi}^2$ test and t-test. Results: There was no significant difference in attitude toward people with disabilities between the two groups (t=-.743, p=.459). But there was a significant difference in stereotyping between the experimental and the control group(t=-4.097, p=.000). Conclusion: As the result of this study, we can conclude that the program was effective to improve stereotyping toward people with disabilities.
In this study, the effects of metacognitive teaching strategy on the students' scientific inquiry ability and scientific attitude were investigated. For the study, two classes of fourth grade from an elementary school in Busan were chosen. Each class was assigned to the experimental group which metacognitive teaching strategy was applied to and the comparative group that traditional teaching method was applied to. The tests of scientific inquiry ability and scientific attitude were administered before and after the instruction period. The results of this study were as follows. There were significant differences between the experimental group and comparative group in scientific inquiry ability and scientific attitude. It was concluded that metacognitive teaching strategy was more effective in the improvement of students' scientific inquiry ability and scientific attitude.
The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze how reading activities related to the environment of third grade students at elementary schools affect their attitude on the environment. A survey was carried out on 73 third grade students in K elementary school located in Buk-gu, Daegu metropolitan city. The students were divided into an experimental group and a control group. A preliminary inspection with a check paper on environment -related attitude was performed. Then the students in the experimental group performed a reading activity connected with the environment for eight weeks, and a comparative analysis of the results of posttest was conducted. As a result of the study, the posttest of the experimental group in its overall attitude toward the environment and change in attitude by areas, subjects, gender, showed high statistical significance. In terms of effects by areas, each of the three areas progressed evenly as a whole, although emotion showed the most improvement among them. In consequence of the effect by subjects, all subjects improved positively, although the environmental pollution and recycling parts showed the biggest change. Therefore, elementary third graders' reading activities related to the environment was more likely to change their attitude toward the environment to a more desirable direction. Hence, when the proper data for this activity is put into environment-related classes according to the aim of a lesson, it seems that students' attitude toward environment can be improved and moved into a desirable direction. Moreover, hopefully their environmental consciousness and practical inclination will grow when it is sustained even in ordinary times.
The major aim of this study was to find out the influence of brand previous knowledge, previous brand attitude, perceived quality on VMD cognition and attitude. Eight brands were selected as experimental stimuli brands for this study. A total of 320 questionnaires were obtained from college students living in Daegu. Using factor analysis, each of brand previous knowledge, previous brand attitude, perceived quality, VMD attitude were extracted one factor.VMD cognition were divided into 5 factors; Coordination, Attractiveness, Fashionability, Fitness, and Functionality. The results revealed that previous brand attitude and perceived quality affected VMD cognition and VMD attitude, while brand previous knowledge did not affect VMD cognition and VMD attitude. Therefore, when companies related to fashion investigate the effect of VMD, they should consider the previous brand attitude and perceived quality of their brands.
This study was conducted to find out the effect of sexual education for knowledge and attitude toward sex are elementary school students. Therefore, the present study aims to understand the changes of the knowledge are the attitude toward sex before and after the sex education, in elementary school students and then finally to provide some basic data to suggest directions for sex education. The subjects were 500 male and female elementary students from the fifth and sixth grades of 4 public elementary schools in Pusan. The subjects were assigned to a experimental (250) and a control (250) group. The research tools were sex education program and consists of physiology(menache, ejaculation), psycological(pleasure of growth), sociological(hetero sexual relationship) are about set The sex education program was given to experimental group for 6 hours by the trained school nurse's lecture using slide film and OHP film. The data were obtained before and after the sex education. Data collection was done during the period betwen Feb. 3. 1997. to Feb. 20. 1997. The collected data were analyed using frequency, percentages, $X^2$-test, means, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, MANCOVA with SPSS program. The results were obtained as follows : 1. The first hypotheses attained that the experimental group(19.72) is higher than the control group(12.12) on the knowledge toward sex(F=467.30, P=.000). At the physical area, the experimental group(8.84) is higher than the control group(3.96) (F=687.39, P=.000). At the psychological area the experimental group (5.18) is higher than the control group(2.63) (F=411.66, P=.000). At the social area, the experimental group (5.70) is higher than the control group (5.54), this is not significant difference (F=.67, P=.413). 2. The second hypotheses attained that the experimental group(60.42) is higher than the control group(52.48) on the attitude toward sex(F=215.70, P=.000). At the physical area, the experimental group(23.10) is higher than the control group(20.68) (F=128.68, P=.000), At the psychological area, the experimental group(20.11) is higher than the control group(16.40) (F=108.64, P=.000). At the social area, the experimental group(17.22) is higher than the control group(16.00), this is area are significant differences (F=70.37, P=.000). 3. Knowledge toward sex according to sex, religon, atmosphere of family, mother age and educational background are significant differance (P<0.05). Attitude toward sex according to sex is significant differance (P<0.05).
Purpose - The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of model attractiveness on brand attitude and purchase intention, and examine whether product-model match-up plays a moderating role in the relationship between model attractiveness and brand attitude and purchase intention. The model attractiveness is consist of psychological and physical attractiveness of the model. The authors investigate how product-model match-up influence the strength of the relationship between model attractiveness - brand attitude and purchase intention. The purpose of this is to test whether product-model match-up influence the form and effectiveness of a model attractiveness on brand attitude and purchase intention and suggest the effective and efficient methods in the model selection strategies to increase advertising effectiveness based on the results of this study. Research design, data, and methodology - The experimental design for this study was the between subject design based on 2 group of the psychological attractiveness(high vs. low) × product-model match-up(high vs low) and 2 group of the physical attractiveness(high vs. low) × product-model match-up(high vs low). And a preliminary investigation was conducted to develop experimental stimuli through manipulation check to enhance the external validity of experimental research. The attractiveness of the model and product-model match-up are independent variables and manipulative variables in presentation of experimental stimuli. The self-administered methode experiment was conducted on 300 subjects in four groups constructed according to the independent variables. Result - The findings provide partial support for a moderator for product-model match-up on the model attractiveness - brand attitude and purchase intention. First, the influence of psychological attractiveness and physical attractiveness on brand attitude and purchase intention was shown significant. Also, it was found that the average value of brand attitude and purchase intention according to psychological attractiveness was significantly higher than the average value of brand attitude and purchase intention according to physical attractiveness in additional analysis. Second, the average value of brand attitude and purchase intention were higher when product - model match-up was high in both high and low psychological attractiveness and physical attractiveness of the model. However, in the case of psychological attractiveness, the correlation effect with product - model match-up was significant, but in the case of physical attractiveness, it was not significant. Conclusions - The results of this study suggest that the attractiveness factor should be considered in selecting the ad model by verifying the effect of the attractiveness of the model on the advertising effect. In particular, this study has great significance both academically and practically in terms of suggesting such implications that the advertising effect of psychological attractiveness and physical attractiveness may be different depending on the product type by additional analysis.
Purpose: This study was done to identify the effects of individual postpartum breast-feeding education on adaptation, attitude and practice of breast-feeding in primiparas. Methods: A quasi-experimental nonequivalent design was used to examine the effects of individual postpartum breast-feeding education among primiparas. The data were analyzed using $x^2$-test, Fisher's exact test and paired t-test. Results: There was a significant difference in breast-feeding adaptation (t=-12.94, p<.001), breast-feeding attitude (t=-2.71, p=.011) and breast-feeding practice ($x^2$=16.47, p<.001) between the group education (experimental group I) and individual education after group education (experimental group II). Conclusion: The results indicate that individual education on breast-feeding compared to group education has more positive effects on increasing breast-feeding adaptation, attitude and practice in primiparas. This result also indicates that many primiparas should be given opportunities of various types of education to improve breast-feeding practice such as individual approaches and postpartum breast-feeding education programs.
This study is a research about the effect on achievement, retention and attitude of learning descriptive statistics with the computer software. For this study, 60 students are randomly divided two groups, one is an experimental group using software, the other one is a control group using lecture type of learning statistics. For the analysis, both groups are divided three subgroups according to mathematical ability. Also the topic "descriptive statistics" is divided by 5 subtopics. The test is divided three parts(computation, concept and application) according to knowledge type. The attitude toward statistics is investgated with questionaire and interview with both groups. The achievement test is taken after 8 class periods. The retention test were administered together six weeks after achievement test. The experimental group achieved significantly better than in concept type while the control group performed significantly better than the experimental group in computation type. With respect to the attitude toward statistics, lower ability students may have been negatively affected by the use of software.
The aim of this study was to estimate the effects of an early childhood environmental education program developed on the basis of relationships among preschoolers' knowledge, emotional attitude, and perceived behavior control of environmental pollution on their knowledge, emotional attitude, perceived behavior control, and behavioral intention. A total of 146 five-year-old preschoolers from eight child-care centers in Seoul and Kyoungki Province participated in this study. The following are the main results of this study. first, the higher the level of knowledge the preschoolers had, the more negative emotional attitude they displayed. Furthermore, the more negative emotional attitude they displayed, the higher the level of perceived behavior control they had. On the contrary, the relationships between knowledge and perceived behavior control varied with exposure situation to environmental pollution. Second, after the environmental education program was administered to the experimental group, the preschoolers from experimental group exhibited more knowledge, more negative emotional attitude, higher perceived behavior control and more active behavioral intention towards environmental pollution than those in the control group.
The Purpose of this study is searching the effect of the flow level increasing by using flow learning on scientific achievement and attitude toward science in 4rd grade elementary school student's scientific learning factors, and the better way to approach scientific institude than now in used. Participants included 52 elementary school students. For this study, two classes were divided into experimental class and control class. The control class takes a regular instructions and the experimental class takes a flow learning instructions. Two chapter were selected, 'Plant's World' and 'Fossil and Rock', for this study. Students were treated for 18 hours. The results were as follows: First, flow learning related program about plant's world, fossil and rock is increasing 4rd grade elementary school students' flow level in science class. Second, students are not increasing their scientific achievement according to increasing their flow level. Third, students are not increasing their attitude toward science according to increasing their flow level. But in attitude toward scientific inquiry, adoption of attitude toward science and preference of job related science subordinated, students are increasing subordinate factors of attitude toward science.
