Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film titled 2001: A Space Odyssey has generally been considered as a monumental piece of mainstream epic science-fiction. However, this film can be evaluated as having properties of experimental cinema by boldly trying technical innovation and aesthetic experiment in various aspects. From the filmmaker's process to filmic structure, technical innovations, screening method, $mise-en-sc\grave{e}ne$, cinematic style and its (auto-)reflexivity, 2001: A Space Odyssey is highly experimental. We will attempt to separate out aspects of 2001: A Space Odyssey that derive explicitly from traditions in experimental cinema, whether adopting those traditions or innovating within them, by identifying the film's experimental strategies and relating them to other experimental films that came before and after. This will show that the purely formal characteristics of the film's conception carry meanings on their own relating to Kubrick's personal expression, ideas about cinema and philosophy that go beyond the scope of the film's narrative.
The main purpose of this article is to propose and assess a new spray impingement model considering film formation, which is capable of describing the droplet distribution and film flows in direct injection diesel engines. The spray-wall interaction model includes several mathematical formulae, newly made by the energy conservation law and some experimental results. The model consists of three representative regimes, rebound, deposition and splash. In addition, the film flow is described in the present model by solving the continuity and momentum equations for film flows using the integral method. To assess the new spray impingement model, the calculated results using the new model are compared with several experimental data for the normally impinging diesel sprays. The film model is also validated through comparing film radius and thickness against experimental data. The results show that the new model is generally in better agreement with experimental data and acceptable for prediction of the film radius and thickness.
This paper deals with an experimental study on the initial condition of liquid film surface waves disintegration and investigation on the behavior of liquid film surface waves formed by the high speed air flow on the solid plane surface. The authors conducted the qualitative and quantitative study to in vestigate the liquid film flow phenomena, the liquid film disintegration mechanism, and droplet formation process with breaking the liquid film surface wave. The newly devised transparent rectangular test section which has semi-two-dimensional flow at the center of the bottom was introduced to perform the experimental study, and it can generate the uniform thickness liquid film at the bottom. The strobo streak camera was used to obtain the instantaneously transformed photographs. The electronic measuring device was also used to measure the liquid film thickness variation in order to perform the easy and effective analysis of complex flow phenomena in the air-water cocurrent flow.
We have studied commercialization and process optimization of protective film on transparent conductive coated substrate, nano silver on flexible PET (poly ethylene terephthalate), by means of roll-to-roll micro-gravure coater. Nanosilver on flexible PET substrate is potential materials to replace ITO (indium tin oxide). Protective film is most important to maintain unique silver pattern on top of transparent PET. PSA pressure sensitive adhesives) was developed solely for nano silver on PET and protective film was successfully laminated. We have optimized all process conditions such as coating thickness, line speed and aging time & temperature via experimental design. Transparent conductive film and its protective film developed in this research are commercially available at this moment.

The minimum heat flux conditions are experimentally investigated for the subcooled liquid film flow on the horizontal plate. The experimental results show that the minimum heat flux point temperature becomes higher with the increase of the velocity and the subcooling of the liquid film flow. However, the effect of distance from the leading edge of the heat transfer plate on the minimum heat flux is almost negligible. Also, the experimental results show that the propagation velocity of wetting front increase with increasing the velocity and the subcooling of the liquid film flow.
The present article presents an extension to the computational model for spray/wall interaction and liquid film processes that has been dealt with in the earlier studies (Lee and Ryou, 2000a). The extensions incorporate film spread due to impingement forces and dynamic motion induced by film inertia to predict the dynamic characteristics of wall films effectively. The film model includes the impingement pressure of droplets, tangential momentum transfer due to the impinging droplets on the film surface and the gas shear force at the film surface. Validation of the spray/wall interaction model and the film model was carried out for non-evaporative diesel sprays against several sources of experimental data. The computational model for spray/wall interactions was in good agreement with experimental data for both spray radius and height. The film model in the present work was better than the previous static film model, indicating that the dynamic effects of film motion should be considered for wall films. On the overall the present film model was acceptable for predication of the film radius and thickness.
Vacuum-assisted thermoforming is one of the critical steps for successful application of film insert molding (FIM) to make parts of complex shape. If the thickness distribution of the formed film is non-uniform, then cracking, deformation, warpage, and wrinkling can easily occur at the injection molding stage. In this study, the simulation of thermoforming was performed to predict the film thickness distribution, and the results were compared with experiments. Uniaxial tensile tests with a constant crosshead speed for various high temperatures were conducted to investigate the stress-strain behavior. An instance of yielding occurred at the film temperature of $90^{\circ}C$, and the film stiffness increased with increasing crosshead speed. Two types of viscoelastic models, G'Sell model, K-BKZ model, were used to describe the measured stress-strain relationship. The predicted film thickness distributions were in good agreement with the experimental results.
In this study, a new model for calculating the liquid film thickness and condensation heat transfer coefficient in a vertical condenser tube is proposed by considering the effects of gravity, liquid viscosity, and vapor flow in the core region of the flow. In order to introduce the radial velocity profile in the liquid film, the liquid film flow was regarded to be in Couette flow dragged by the interfacial velocity at the liquid-vapor interface. For the calculation of the interfacial velocity, an empirical power-law velocity profile had been introduced. The resulting liquid film thickness and heat transfer coefficient obtained from the proposed model were compared with the experimental data from other experimental study and the results obtained from the other condensation models. In conclusion, the proposed model physically explained the liquid film thinning effect by the vapor shear flow and predicted the condensation heat transfer coefficient from experiments reasonably well.
