  • This study analyzed the effects of price perception and product attributes on brand loyalty and repurchase intention, and compared the differences in high- and low-priced cosmetic brands. Data were collected from female consumers in their 20s to 40s and a total of 411 responses were used for the final analysis. Findings were as follows. First, when comparing high- and low-priced brands, personal attribute and experiential attribute among cosmetic attributes, brand loyalty, and repurchase intention of high-priced showed the higher mean scores than those of low-priced. Second, all of three cosmetic attributes and P-Q/prestige were significant for high-priced brand loyalty, while experiential attribute, personal attribute, P-Q/prestige, and price consciousness were significant for low priced brand loyalty. Third, with respect to repurchase intention, all of three cosmetic attributes, P-Q/prestige, and sales proneness were significant for high-priced, while experiential attribute, personal attribute, and P-Q/prestige were significant for low-priced. Personal attribute contributed the most to high-priced brand loyalty and repurchase intention, whereas experiential attribute to low-priced. The findings of this study would be helpful to understand the purchase of high and low priced cosmetic brands. The managerial implications for cosmetic brand marketers were provided.

  • This study explores the value structure of experiential rental Hanbok companies using the means-end chain theory. For this, soft laddering was conducted for nine experiential rental Hanbok companies located in Jeonju Hanok Village. Next, the value structure was created. The results are as follows. First, the elicited values are in the following order: "creation of wealth," "promotion of Korean culture," "aesthetic value," "self-actualization," "community development," and "transmission of tradition." Second, most attributes are connected to "creation of wealth." Third, "promotion of Korean culture" and "community development" are similar to Holden's instrumental values. Fourth, some attributes linked to "aesthetic value" express what the experiential rental Hanbok companies consider to be beautiful. Fifth, the companies pursue "company satisfaction" through "consumer satisfaction" and "company differentiation," which leads to "self-actualization" and "aesthetic value." Sixth, it seems that "transmission of tradition" can be achieved through "expertise/expert training," indicating that some companies think expertise is necessary for the transmission of Hanbok and do it. This study is significant because it is a new attempt to understand the core values of experiential rental Hanbok companies and provides insights into their growth.

  • This research examines how processing type and alignability moderate the effect of product type on satisfaction (i.e., happiness). It is well known that there are two types of processing-deliberative and intuitive processing. Based on the previous literature that the intuitive processing is compatible with experiential purchases and the deliberative processing is fit with material purchase, the current research demonstrates that processing type moderates the effect of product type on happiness. Moreover, we hypothesize that alignability moderates the effect of product type on anticipated satisfaction. As expected, participants in the intuitive processing condition reported greater happiness from their experiential purchases than material purchases. However, in the deliberative processing condition, there was no significant difference between happiness levels from material and experiential purchases. Furthermore, when the attributes of choice options were presented in a non-alignable manner, participants reported greater anticipated satisfaction from experiential purchases than from material purchases. However, this difference disappeared when attributes were presented in an alignable manner. Finally, we propose 'choice process' satisfaction as a potential mediator of the moderating effect of processing type on the relationship between product type and (anticipated) satisfaction.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the adoption of Kakao Bank in terms of benefits (functional, social, experiential, economic benefits) and differentiated services (customization and service diversity) considering service types. Benefits are personal value consumers attach to the product or service attributes and, therefore, more important than attributes of service itself when using Kakao Bank in the internet based environment. Data was collected using an online and offline survey of 131 Kakao Bank users and analyzed the data using structural equation model (SEM). The results of empirical analysis using SmartPLS show that functional benefit, experiential benefit, and customization are significantly related to the user's satisfaction, but economic benefits, social benefit, and service variety are not. Customer's satisfaction are also showed significantly to be related to the all types of Kakao Bank usage(balance check, transfer, and other services). This study has the significance in that it examines the user's satisfaction and usage of Kakao Bank in terms of benefits and differentiated services while other studies analyzed banking services focusing on the attributes of banking channel itself.

  • This study typifies fashion mobile plays in a digital environment and explores the experiential value created by them through a case study of a fashion brand mobile app. For the case analysis, mobile plays were divided into four types: intrinsic motivation/active participation, intrinsic motivation/passive participation, external motivation/active participation, and external motivation/passive participation, depending on the mobile players motivation and level of participation. Among the global fashion brand mobile apps released from 2009 to 2019, 16 cases suitable for the analytical framework were used for final analyses. The main results are as follows. First, mobile play value include characteristics such as networkability, immersion, hyper-spatiality, and super-temporality in addition to the attributes of a traditional play such as spontaneity, uncertainty, regularity, and playfulness. Second, the four types of mobile play provide participants with an experiential value such as creative value, emotional value, social value, and exploitative value. This study has academic implications in terms of introducing a new framework that can typify mobile plays and suggest practical implications for what experiential value fashion companies can give consumers through mobile app marketing.

  • Purpose: While empirical importance of dimensionality of perceived value is widely accepted, our understanding of experiential value dimensions in other retail channels and other cultures has not been explicitly tested. This study attempted to determine if the dimensions of experiential value scale (EVS) by Mathwick, Malhotra, and Rigdon (2001) identified in US catalog and Internet contexts could be applied in other international markets (South Korea) and in other retail channels (department store versus Internet shopping mall). Methodology/Approach: Two data sets, one from 220 department store shoppers and the other from 359 Internet shopping mall shoppers, were analyzed. Findings: Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed four different EVS dimensions by retail channels. Overall, entertainment and intrinsic enjoyment values were found to be more important in department store while economic and efficiency value dimensions were interpreted critical in Internet shopping mall context. Visual appeal aspect constitutes distinct value dimension in two channels. Practical Implications: One separate dimension of time efficiency in Internet shopping mall suggests that more efficient web design and functions that can save time and promote convenience are needed to better accommodate their customers. Internet has heavily relied on traditional attributes, such as factual information, price comparability, and brand name reliance. However, this study suggests that Internet shopping mall retailer should offer visual diversion and stimulation just as brick and mortar shopping malls do. Originality /Value of Paper: Although the research findings must be viewed as tentative because the results are from one country, they provide a rich basis for further understanding the dimensions of experiential value in other international markets and other retail channels. • This study aimed to elucidate the relationship between the selection attributes and visit motivations of Ningxia wineries and tourist satisfaction and intention to revisit. Utilizing multiple linear regression and simple linear regression models, the study quantitatively analyzed tourists' selection attributes and visit motivations for Ningxia wineries. Factor analysis categorized 12 visit motivation variables into four factors: 'Sensation', 'Educational', 'Companion-Friendly', and 'Experiential'. Additionally, 17 selection attribute variables were classified into four factors: 'Service Quality', 'Environmental', 'Facility', and 'Economic'. Through analyzing the impact of visit motivations on satisfaction and revisit intentions, we have identified the pivotal factors as 'Wine Cultural Education', 'Enhanced Companion-Friendliness', and 'Wine Cultural Experience'. In the analysis of the relationship between selection attributes and revisit intentions, crucial elements involve 'Service Quality provided by the winery"'and 'Environmental of the winery'. Conversely, key influencing revisit intentions include 'Environmental of the winery' and 'Costs and Pricing associated with winery visits'. To ensure the sustainable development of the Ningxia winery industry and promote the enduring growth of rural economies, wineries should place greater emphasis on cultivating wine cultural experiences, artisanal activities, and other project endeavors.

  • The proliferation of social media has given rise to the new consumer group, namely, social consumers. This study identified the distinct characteristics of social consumers (i.e., online social search, online social navigation, online social connection) and examined the impacts of social consumer attributes on the engagement with fashion brands via brands' SNSs (BSNSs). A sample of 141 U.S. consumers who had browsed and/or participated in a fashion brand's BSNS (i.e., the Facebook page for fashion brands) was used to examine hypothesized relationships. The analyses involved running a confirmatory factor analysis and a structural equation modeling. The result indicates that the impacts of the social consumer attributes on the benefits of BSNSs (i.e., experiential and functional benefits) as perceived by consumers were significant, except the link between online social connection and functional benefits. In addition, consumers' existing relationship with a brand served as a moderating variable, strengthening the impacts of social consumer attributes on BSNS benefits. The perceived benefits of BSNSs positively affected perceived relationship investment which in turn influenced brand loyalty. Practical marketing suggestions are provided for fashion brands.
