대잠용 수온측정계 측정 메커니즘 개선 (An Improvement of Expendable Bathythermograph Measurement Mechanism for Anti-Submarine Warfare)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to improve a mechanism of expendable bathythermograph measurement by balancing wire resistances between plus wire part and minus wire part and by removing effects of sea water resistance between XBT(Expendable Bathythermograph) and temperature recorder. Methods: The problems are exactly found out through the analysis of XBT and temperature recorder circuit. A process of XBT manufacturing that balances wire resistances between plus wire part and minus wire part is added. Results: The results of this study are as follows; the complicated test process such as temperature accuracy test with a cistern is substituted with a simple process of XBT manufacturing such as balancing wire resistances between plus wire part and minus wire part. Then, the temperature accuracy tolerance of XBT is improved up to ${\pm}0.1^{\circ}C$. Conclusion: Consequently, balancing wire resistances and removing effects of sea water resistance improve temperature accuracy of XBT and reduce expensive and harassing process of XBT manufacturing.

2013~2015년 울릉 난수성 소용돌이의 수온변동 (Temperature Variation in the Ulleung Warm Eddy during 2013~2015)

  • 울릉 난수성 소용돌이의 수온 변동을 보기 위하여, 동해중부해역(동해항-독도의 지선)에서 2013년 7월부터 2015년 7월까지 소모성 수온기록계(XBT)와 국립수산과학원의 정선 해양 관측 자료를 이용하여 살펴보았다. 울릉 난수성 소용돌이의 완전한 형태를 볼 수 없었을지라도, 조사 단면은 울릉 난수성 소용돌이의 특징을 잘 나타내었다. 그 결과, 수온의 변동계수는 평균 수온이 $3{\sim}4^{\circ}C$의 범위를 가지는 250 m 깊이에서 가장 크게 나타났다. 250 m 층의 수온 변동계수의 수평적 분포는 울릉도와 한국 동해안 사이의 해역에서 가장 컸으며, 이는 울릉 난수성 소용돌이의 핵이 아닌 주변부 해역이었다. 울릉 난수성 소용돌이는 한국 동해 연안에서 남북 혹은 동서로 움직였다, 울릉 난수성 소용돌이는 주로 울릉도 남서 해역에 존재하였으며, 남북 방향으로의 이동성이 동서 방향으로의 이동성보다 크게 나타났다. 250 m 깊이에서 수온의 변동계수가 크게 나타난 것은 울릉 난수성 소용돌이의 하층부에 있는 동해중층수와의 상호 작용에 의한 것으로 보인다. 이것은 울릉 난수성 소용돌이의 하부 깊이에서 울릉 난수성 소용돌이 주변부와 동해중층수와의 상호 작용이 활발하게 발생하고 있음을 시사하고 있다.

2006년과 2007년 여름에 관측한 Hawaii-Chuuk 사이의 물리특성 (Physical Oceanographic Characteristics between Hawaii and Chuuk Observed in Summer of 2006 and 2007)

  • To investigate the physical characteristics and variations of oceanic parameters in the tropical central North Pacific, oceanographic surveys were carried out in summer of 2006 and 2007. The survey periods were classified by Oceanic Ni$\tilde{n}$o Index as a weak El Ni$\tilde{n}$o in 2006 and a medium La Ni$\tilde{n}$a in 2007. The survey instruments were used to acquire data on CTD (Conductivity Temperature and Depth), XBT (Expendable Bathythermograph), and TSG (Thermosalinograph). The dominant temporal variation of surface temperature was diurnal. The diurnal variation in 2007, when the La Ni$\tilde{n}$a weather pattern was in place, was stronger than that in 2006. Surface salinity in 2006 was affected by a northwestward branch of North Equatorial Current, which implies that the El Ni$\tilde{n}$o affects surface properties in the North Equatorial Current region. Two salinity minimum layers existed at stations east of Chuuk in both year's observations. The climatological vertical salinity section along $180^{\circ}E$ shows that the two salinity minimum layers exist in $2^{\circ}N{\sim}12^{\circ}N$ region, consistent with our observations. Analysis of isopycnal lines over the salinity section implies that the upper salinity minimum layer is from intrusion of the upper part of North Pacific Intermediate Water into the lower part of South Pacific Subtropical Surface Water and the lower salinity minimum layer is from Antarctic Intermediate Water.
