  • Recently, the increase of single households are remarkable in Korean society due to various social and economic reasons such as aging and changes in values, and it is expected to bring many changes to social and economic structures and residential spaces. Increase of single households is a result of complex economic, cultural and social factors. It is because as the individual's financial independence increases due to elevated income and education level, the age of marriage is going up and the individualism, which values the individual's value rather than custom, is spreading. It is expected to accelerate further in connection with the changes in structure of population, such as a low birth rate and aging. As the number of single households is increasing, the development and marketing for single household products are actively growing. With the increase in consumption demand and need of growing single households, the multi-functional system furniture that can be efficiently and conveniently used in small spaces are needed, but the furniture manufactured in Korean companies are designed for regular housing and is not suitable for single households. Therefore, the aim of this study is to develop multi-functional system furniture can be freely used in the housing structure of single household and small spaces.

  • Effective link quality estimation is a vital issue for reliable routing in wireless networks. This paper studies the performance of expected transmission count (ETX) under different traffic loads. Although ETX shows good performance under light load, its performance gets significantly worse when the traffic load is high. A broadcast packet storm due to new route discoveries severely affects the link ETX values under high traffic load, which makes it difficult to find a good path. This paper presents the design and implementation of a variation of ETX called high load - ETX (HETX), which reduces the impact of route request broadcast packets to link metric values under high load. We also propose a reliable routing protocol using link quality metrics, which is called link quality distance vector (LQDV). We conducted the evaluation of the performance of three metrics - HETX, ETX and minimum hop-count. The simulation results show that HETX improves the average route throughput by up to 25% over ETX under high traffic load. Minimum hop-count has poor performance compared with both HETX and ETX at all of the different traffic loads. Under light load, HETX and ETX show the same performance.

  • The purpose of this study was to classify size specifications of Korean adult male for the men's ready·made garments, especially jacket and dress shirts. Concept of the comfort and fitness has become a major concern in the basic function of the ready-made garments. Data were collected by the real anthropometric measurement and by the photographic sources. Sample size was 1.290 subjects as the sample and their age range was from 19 to 54 pean old by the stratified sampling method. 66 variables from the direct anthropometric data in total were applied to analyze. ANOVA in SAS package was applied to the data and the expected frequency distribution of 10.000 men was calculated by the extraction of density function. Control dimensions for jacket and dress shirts has been designated by Bcorean Apparel Sizing System (KS-K). Therefore this study was performed to classify size specifications by the control dimensions and at the same interval of KS-K. The drop values of 15, 12 and 9 has the high coverage rate of 22.1%, 21.0% and 18.8% respectively and are composed of the majority of 61.9% of the subjects. According to the drop values, size specifications and distribution of control and reference dimensions are predicted. About 65.75% of the expected frequency distribution without stature were covered by 19 size specification.

  • The Edwards-Vilgis slip-link theory and the Kaliske-Heinrich extended tube theory were tested experimentally using published experimental data on networks of natural and isoprene rubber and on polysiloxane networks. All parameters were adjusted to achieve an optimum fit. The data description obtained with the EV theory is not satisfactory and the parameter values tend to lie outside their reasonably expected range. But for the region of low strains, the Kaliske-Heinrich theory offers a satisfactorily accurate data description which is able to serve for practical purposes. Its crosslink term, however, is based on approximations which lead to a questionable prediction and values determined for the exponent in the entanglement term lie outside the range expected by the KH model. Thus, the title question cannot be given a positive answer. Conclusions published earlier that the trapped entanglements contribute both to the crosslink and constraint (entanglement) term are supported by the present data analysis. Experimental equibiaxial data on hydrocarbon networks do not show any maximum on their stretch ratio dependence, contrary to the predictions of molecular theories. The stretch ratio dependences of relative reduced stresses do not sensitively reflect differences in the chemical nature of the chain backbone (hydrocarbon vs. siloxane) and in the crosslinking method (end-linking vs. random crosslinking).

  • An estimated investment gap of $176 billion needs to be filled over the next ten years to improve America's inland waterway transportation systems. Many of these infrastructure systems are now beyond their original 50-year design life and are often behind in maintenance due to funding constraints. Therefore, long-term maintenance strategies (i.e., asset management (AM) strategies) are needed to optimize investments across these waterway systems to improve their condition. Two common AM strategies include policy-driven maintenance and performance-driven maintenance. Currently, limited research exists on selecting the optimal AM approach for managing inland waterway transportation assets. Therefore, the goal of this study is to provide a decision model that can be used to select the optimal alternative between the two AM approaches by considering key uncertainties such as asset condition, asset test results, and asset failure. We achieve this goal by addressing the decision problem as a single-criterion problem, which calculates each alternative's expected value and certain equivalence using allocated monetary values to determine the recommended alternative for optimally maintaining navigable waterways. The decision model considers estimated and predicted values based on the current state of the infrastructure. This research concludes that the performance-based approach is the optimal alternative based on the expected value obtained from the analysis. This research sets the stage for further studies on fiscal constraints that will effectively optimize these assets condition.

  • The purpose of this paper is to test the applicability of the rural amenity values assessment model(RAVAM) to a case study area. To verify the practical applicabilities of the RAVAM, south-east area of Kyounggi province was selected as a study area. Full data of 101 Myuns of Kyounggi province were gathered with Geographic In-formation System(GIS) and Remote Sensing(RS) techniques. All the 101 Myuns' rural amenity resources were assessed. Cluster analysis was performed on almost intact nature, interaction between nature and man, man-made amenity values to classify rural amenity characteristics. It was expected that the proposed RAVAM could be used in developing rural development plans considering local rural amenity resources' distribution.

  • In order to investigate the relationship between fabric sound parameters and subjective sensation, each sound from 60 fabrics was recorded and analyzed by Fast Fourier transform. Level pressure of total sound (LPT), three coefficients (ARC, ARF, ARE) of auto regressive models, loudness (Z), and sharpness (Z) by Zwickers model were estimated as sound parameters. For subjective evaluation, seven sensation (softness, loudness, sharpness, clearness, roughness, highness, and pleasantness) was rated by both semantic differential scale (SDS) and free modulus magnitude estimation (FMME). As the results, the ARC values were positively proportional to both LPT and loudness (Z) values. In both of SDS and FMME, softness, clearness, and pleasantness were negatively correlated with loudness, sharpness, roughness, and highness. In regression models, softness and clearness by FMME were negatively affected by LPT뭉 ARC, while loudness, sharpness, roughness, and highness were positively expected. Regression models for pleasantness showed low values for R2.

  • Using two current conveyors with the grounded capacitors and resistors, this paper proposed equivalent circuits which can realize the floating L and the floating FDNR. To find out their characteristics, we experiment with these circuits instead of the floating L of the low-pass filter and the floating FDNR of the high-pass filter respectively. Comparing theoretical values with experimental ones, values of the proposed floating L represent the error of 5 percents in the frequency range from 5 KHz to 25 KHz, and values of the floating FDNR represent the error of 5 percents in the range from 8 KHz to 25 KHz. So the proposed floating L and the FDNR circuits are expected to be implemented with current conveyors of an IC.
