농촌 지역에 노인들의 흡연습관이 생활만족도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Elderly Smoking Habits on Life Satisfaction in Rural Area)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 농촌지역에 거주하는 노인들의 흡연자와 비흡연자의 생활만족도를 비교 조사함으로써, 흡연에 대한 선입견이 아닌 흡연에 대한 균형 잡힌 이해를 도우려하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 S읍 소재 10곳의 경로당을 표본으로 선정하여 남 여 65세 이상 노인 중 흡연자 100명과 비흡연자 100명에게 생활만족도 조사를 하여, 이 그룹 간에 정신적인 생활만족도의 차이를 비교해 보았다. 분석결과는 비흡연자 보다는 흡연자가 정신적인 생활만족도, 생활의 즐거움, 사회활동 참여도, 외로움 등에서 유의하게 더 만족한 것으로 나타났다. 이 결과는 농촌지역의 만65세 이상 노인들이 최소한 3,40년 이상 오랜 시간동안 흡연의 습관에서 오는 결과로 사료된다. 따라서 본 연구결과를 통하여 고령화 사회에 접어든 우리나라 노인들의 흡연에 대한 올바른 이해를 도울 수 있을 것으로 기대되며, 향후 후속연구에는 좀 더 대상을 확장하여, 융복합측면에서 다각적인 노인들의 흡연행태에 관한 연구가 활발하게 진행 될 것으로 사료된다.

Cost-Utility of "Doxorubicin and Cyclophosphamide" versus "Gemcitabine and Paclitaxel" for Treatment of Patients with Breast Cancer in Iran

  • Purpose: A cost-utility analysis was performed to assess the cost-utility of neoadjuvant chemotherapy regimens containing doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide (AC) versus paclitaxel and gemcitabine (PG) for locally advanced breast cancer patients in Iran. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study in Namazi hospital in Shiraz, in the south of Iran covered 64 breast cancer patients. According to the random numbers, the patients were divided into two groups, 32 receiving AC and 32 PG. Costs were identified and measured from a community perspective. These items included medical and non-medical direct and indirect costs. In this study, a data collection form was used. To assess the utility of the two regimens, the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core30 (EORTC QLQ-C30) was applied. Using a decision tree, we calculated the expected costs and quality adjusted life years (QALYs) for both methods; also, the incremental cost-effectiveness ratio was assessed. Results: The results of the decision tree showed that in the AC arm, the expected cost was 39,170 US$ and the expected QALY was 3.39 and in the PG arm, the expected cost was 43,336 dollars and the expected QALY was 2.64. Sensitivity analysis showed the cost effectiveness of the AC and ICER=-5535 US$. Conclusions: Overall, the results showed that AC to be superior to PG in treatment of patients with breast cancer, being less costly and more effective.

가치상향 의사결정 樣式 및 가족생활 만족 -서울시 주부를 중심으로- (Value Orientation, Decision Making Style and family life Satisfaction -from the wives living in seoul-)

  • The present study was initiated under the hypotheses that value orientation of wives is closely related to their decision making style in home management and that family life satisfaction of wives varies according to their decision making style. To test the hypotheses the following procedures were undertaken; (1) developing measurement instruments for value orientation, decision making style, and family life satisfaction; (2) finding value orientation of wives, their decision making style, and their family life satisfaction by applying the measurement instruments; (3) finding the variables highly affecting value orientation, decision making style and family life satisfaction ; and (4) finding the causal mechanism among value orientation, decision making style, and family life satisfaction. In conclusion , preferences of wives for humanism in value orientation were expected to lead decision making style to person -oriented rater than task-oriented style and , furthermore, to result in higher family life satisfaction.

재미 한인 주부들의 식생활에 관한 연구 (Food Life of Korean American Housewives in the New York/New Jersey Area)

  • This study investigated the food life of 271 Korean American hoursewives residing in the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area. The objectives of this survey were to describe the food life of Koreans and to identify any demographic factors related to the food life. Most of the respondents(80.4%) considered dinner as the most important meal of the day and 97.4% preferred Korean foods for their dinner. More than half percents (54%) preferred to go out to eat at Korean restaurants. While 14.4% of the respondents reported always buying Kimchee, 47.2% of the subjects reported making their own Kimchee regularly. Although several studies showed that the food life are likely to occur spontaneously and to change constantly, most of the Korean Americans in this study appeared conservative in their food life. This study is expected to provide a baseline for a culturally specific nutrition program that would recommend immigrants to practice positive food life and nutrition behaviors. A more study about the effects of immigration on dietary patterns and diseases as well as other nutritional status would be needed.

  • Today, the power utilities is setting on the slow load growth and the aging of power equipment, and then could spend the efforts on the stability of system performance. Asset management may be defined as the process of maximizing corporate profit by maximizing performance and minimizing cost over the entire life cycle of power equipment. Therefore, asset management is great way to fulfill the economic investment and the stability of system performance. This paper presents the application of effective asset managem ent from an economic perspective. A proposed method is considering the life cycle analysis using life cycle cost methodology for hydro-generator during the total life cycle. The life cycle cost methodology include a way to calculating maintenance and operating costs. The proposed method will be expected to play an important role in investment decision making considering economic evaluation.

  • 본 연구에서는 열화하는 교량의 생애주기비용(Life-Cycle Cost: 이하 LCC)-효율적인 최적 내진보강과 유지관리전략의 선정문제의 의사결정을 위한 현실적인 방법론을 제안하고자 한다. 제안된 방법론은 설계규준과 같은 제약조건하에서 내진보강비용, 기대 유지관리비용, 그리고 기대 경제손실비용의 합으로 표현되는 총 기대 LCC의 최소화 개념에 기초하고 있다. 본 연구에서 제안된 방법론은 동반논문에서 고려된 예제교량의 최적 내진보강과 유지관리전략의 선정을 위한 문제에 적용되었고, 부식환경과 교통조건에 따른 LCC-효율성에 대하여 고찰해 보았다. 또한, 개발된 방법론의 타당성을 검증해보기 위해 고려된 조건에 따른 LCC분석결과를 기존 연구에서 제안된 방법론과 비교 및 고찰을 수행하였다. 적용 예를 통해 제안된 방법론은 LCC-효율적인 내진보강과 유지관리전략의 선정을 위한 의사결정에 있어서 매우 효율적인 도구로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • This study is intended to propose a systematic approach for determining optimum Life-Cycle Cost (LCC)-effective seismic design for continuous PSC bridges considering lifetime expected seismic risks. In the paper, a set of cost function for LCC analysis of bridges is proposed. The total LCC functions consist of initial cost and direct/indirect damage costs considering repair/replacement costs, human losses and property damage costs, road user costs, and indirect socio-economic losses. The damage costs are expressed in terms of Park-Ang median global damage indices (Park and Ang, 1985) and lifetime damage probabilities. The proposed approach is applied to model bridges of both moderate seismicity regions like Korea and high seismicity regions like Japan. Since, in case of bridges, a number of parameters may have an influence on optimal target reliability, various sensitivity analyses are performed in this study. It may be expected that the proposed approach can be effectively utilized for the development of cost-effective performance criteria for design and upgrading of various types of bridges as well as continuous PC bridges.

직장인의 퇴직 및 재취업결정에 관한 연구 (Employed Mens' Retirement and Reemployment Decision Making)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the affecting factors on employed mens' retirement and reemployment decision making. The focus was on the process of employed mens' decision on retirement and their reemployment decision after retirement from present job. The major findings were as follows ; First, the employed men who had a retirement plan were having more household income, more household net asset, more savings and investment for elderly life, and more positive attitude toward retirement. Second, the major factors affecting on having retirement plan or not were employed mens' age, household income, expected income after retirement, savings and investment for elderly life, job, and attitude toward retirement. Third, the major affecting factors on expected retirement age were employed mens' age, health status, job security, and attitude toward retirement. Forth, the employed mens' reemployment decision was affected from their household income, expected income after retirement, pension ownership, and attitude toward retirement. From the findings, it can be concluded that the employed mens' age, economic status, and attitude toward retirement played a important role in the process of retirement and reemployment decision making.

Cost and reliability of retrofit alternatives for schools located on seismic zones

  • A formulation based on structural reliability and cost effectiveness is proposed to provide recommendations to select the best retrofit strategy for schools with reinforced concrete frames and masonry walls, among three proposed alternatives. The cost calculation includes the retrofit cost and the expected costs of failure consequences. Also, the uncertainty of the seismic hazard is considered for each school site. The formulation identifies the potential failure modes, among shear and bending forces for beams, and flexure-compression forces for columns, for each school, and the seismic damages suffered by the schools after the earthquake of September 17, 2017 are taken into account to calibrate the damaged conditions per school. The school safety level is measured through its global failure probability, instead of only the local failure probability. The proposed retrofit alternatives are appraised in terms of the cost/benefit balance under future earthquakes, for the respective site seismic hazard, as opposed to the current practice of just restoring the structure original resistance. The best retrofit is the one that corresponds to the minimum value of the expected life cycle cost. The study, with further developments, may be used to develop general recommendations to retrofit schools located at seismic zones.

Seismic damage estimation of reinforced concrete framed structures affected by chloride-induced corrosion

  • A methodology for estimation of statistical properties (viz. mean and standard deviation) of the expected seismic damage to reinforced concrete framed structures subject to corrosion of reinforcement, over a specified reference time (typically the service life of the structure) is proposed in this paper. The damage to the structure under the earthquake loading is characterised by the damage index, determined using the modified Park and Ang damage model. The reduction in area, yield strength and strain at ultimate of steel reinforcement, and the reduction in compressive strength of cover concrete due to corrosion are taken into account in the estimation of damage. The proposed methodology is illustrated through an example problem. From the results obtained, it is noted that there is an increase of about 70% in the mean value of expected seismic damage to the reinforced concrete frame considered over a reference time of 30 years when effect of corrosion is taken into consideration. This indicates that there is a need to consider the effect of corrosion of reinforcement on the estimation of expected seismic damage.
