  • In this paper we introduce a new notion of expansive flows, which is the combination of expansivity in the sense of Katok and Hasselblatt and kinematic expansivity, named KH-kinematic expansivity. We present new properties of several variations of expansivity. A new hierarchy of expansive flows is given.

  • This study investigated the fundamental properties and shrinkage properties of high performance concrete with water/binder ratio of 0, 30 and with combination of expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent. According to the results, the fluidity of high performance concrete showed lower the using method in combination with expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent than the separately using method of that, so the amount of superplasticizer increased when the adding ratio of expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent increased. However the air content of concrete increased when used in combination with expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent, so the amount of AE agent decreased. The compressive strength showed the highest at 5% of expansive additive, and decreased with an increase of the amount of shrinkage reducing agent. Furthermore, in order to reduce the shrinkage of high performance concrete, it was found that the using method in combination with expansive additive and shrinkage reducing agent was more effective than separately using method of that. Autogenous shrinkage was predicted using JCI model. Because JCI model is unable to consider the effect of EA and SRA, correction factor should be added to enhance the accuracy.

  • The expansion capacity and strength of expansive grout have a significant influence on the stress state of a supported rock mass and the strength of a grout-rock mass structure. The expansion and strength characteristics are vital in grouting preparation and application. To analyze the expansion performance and mechanical properties of expansive grout, uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) tests, expansion ratio tests, XRD, SEM, and microscopic scanning tests (MSTs) of expansive grout under different curing pressure conditions were conducted. The microevolution was analyzed by combining the failure characteristics, XRD patterns, SEM images, and surface morphologies of the specimens. The experimental results show that: (1) The final expansion ratio of the expansive grout was linear with increasing expansion agent content and nonlinear with increasing curing pressure. (2) The strength of the expansive grout was positively correlated with curing pressure and negatively correlated with expansion agent content. (3) The expansion of expansive grout was related mainly to the development of calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) crystals. With an increase in expansion agent content, the final expansion ratio increased, but the expansion rate decreased. With an increase in the curing pressure, the grout expansion effect decreased significantly. (4) The proportion of the concave surfaces at the centre of the specimen cross-section reflected the specimen's porosity to a certain extent, which was linear with increasing expansion agent content and curing pressure.

  • Although portland cement concrete is one of the most universal construction materials, it has some disadvantage such as shrinkage, which is an inherent characteristic. Because of this shrinkage, combined with the low tensile strength of the material, cracks of varying sizes can be found in every reinforced concrete. To prevent this cracking, keeping the concrete in compression by mechanical prestress has been used. This study discusses application of expansive additives for concrete to improve the serviceability of precast concrete box culvert by inducing chemical prestress. For this purpose, both expansive concrete slabs and normal concrete slabs are tested to verify the effect of expansive additives. Then the failure tests of the fullscale precast box culverts were carried out and the critical aspects of the structural behavior were investigated. The result of the material testis shows that the optimal proportion of expansive additives is 13 percent of cement weight, and the properties of expansive concrete are the same as those of normal concrete in that proportion. Both the experimental cracking load and service load of the expansive concrete members are increased in comparison with those of the normal concrete, but the ultimate load is decreased slightly. In addition to the above results, the deformation of expansive concrete member is lets than that of normal concrete member, and permanent strain which results from cyclic load is decreased. It can be concluded that the use of expansive additives to induce chemical prestress in precast concrete box culvert greatly improves the serviceability.

  • In this paper, we investigated quality properties for the expansive of the CaO-$CaSO_4$ family which used to compensate dry-shrinkage in the floor mortar of On-Dol heating System. This experimental study established the mix condition with quantity of the expansive and is to investigate the relativity between the compress strength and the length change and the relativity between the chemical properties and the length change with the analysis of the physical and chemical properties. As a result of the study, the expansive is controlled by more the CaO than the $CaSO_4$. The relativity between the compress strength and the length change is expressed by exponential function, showing that if the expansive performance is increased, the compress strength is decreased. And the relativity between the chemical properties and the length change is only relative the quantity of the F-CaO among the chemical properties, is expressed by the second order function, showing that if the F-CaO is increased, the expansive performance is increased.

  • The objection of this study is to investigate the properties of cement mortar with the kinds and addition of expansive additives. 3 kinds of expansive additives produced in our country and 0, 5, 10, 15, 20% of ratio of addition rate are selected for this experiment. According to experimental results, flow of cement mortar with expansive additives is nearly same with flow of plain mortar and compressive strength, tensile strength, bend strength of cement mortar with expansive additives at 28 days is higher than that of plain mortar.

According to experimental results, flow, slump and air rate of concrete with expansive additives is nearly same with its of plain concrete and compressive strength, tensile strength of concrete with expansive additives at 28 days is higher than that of plain concrete. Therefore, The expansion concrete is able to manufactured so it consumes by restricted effects.
