  • The shortage of parking lots in aged apartment complexes built from the 1980s to the mid 1990s is serious. When we look at the case of parking lot expansion in the aged apartment complexes, the method of extending the underground parking lot vertically occupies the majority. It is very important to secure the structural safety of the foundations when the existing buildings are enlarged. In the case of underground vertical work, the work space should be narrow, so that a method with excellent safety, environmental and construction properties should be applied. Urban construction is also required to use construction methods and equipment with low noise and vibration. This study analyzed the factors influencing the selection of the foundation reinforcement method for the expansion of the underground parking lot and Weights of influence factors were calculated. The purpose of this study was to analyze the applicability of the foundation reinforcement method. Factors influencing the applicability of the foundation reinforcement method were derived through expert interviews and The AHP technique was used to calculate the weight of the influencing factors. It was evaluated by experts on the applicability of the foundation reinforcement method. It conducted a case study on two types of underground parking lot expansion type and compared the applicability of the foundation reinforcement method.

  • When historical or cultural buildings need to be repaired or reinforced, the changes of original features should be minimized, and the strengths of structures should be improved. Among the existing methods to reinforce historical wood structures, the carbon fiber reinforcement polymer (CFRP) installation method is one of the best ones to achieve the afore-mentioned requirements. Therefore, this study aims at investigating the reinforcing effects and failure modes of timber beams reinforced with the inserted CFRP, a part of roof trusses in modern wood structures, and at providing the fundamental test data to estimate the CFRP rein-forced timber beam in the application of this reinforcing method. The primary parameters in this study were the layout and amount of CFRP. It was observed that, when $0.3{\sim}0.7%$ of CFRP were installed, the strengths of reinforced timber beams increased up to 173% compared to its original strength, but their strengthening effects were heavily influenced by the characteristics of timber such as burls. In order to improve the applicability of this strengthening method, fundamental understandings on the characteristics of wood would be necessary, and there would be in need of researches on the non-destructive test for wood structures as well.

  • Recently, the repair and reinforcement of deteriorated concrete buildings has attracted much interest. In order to accurately evaluate the safety of these existing structures, it is essential to know the strength of the concrete that they are composed of. The core drilling method is considered to be the most effective and common method of assessing the compressive strength of concrete. In general, the regulations do not permit the core specimens within reinforcing bars to be used to assess the strength of the concrete, even if the core specimens contain reinforcing bars in some cases. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the reinforcement arrangement on the compressive strength of concrete, and to propose the quantitative specific standard of strength for core specimens containing reinforcements, in order to facilitate their safe inspection by repair or retrofit companies who want to evaluate the soundness of the structures. To complete this research, one type of cylinder specimen without reinforcement and 14 types of specimens with reinforcement arrangements were prepared and their compressive strength evaluated. It was found that the strength of the cylinders with reinforcement volumes of up to $50cm^3$ (about 4-ϕ13mm) was more than 80% of that of the cylinders without any reinforcement.

  • After the 1980s, as the economy was growing rapidly and the real estate market was active, a large increase in population was supplied to the city. Accordingly, the national apartment housing market is located in the form of Urban Housing Culture. On the other hand, with time, the supply apartment houses became superannuated and the residential environment became poor. Therefore, the environment of old apartment houses has been changed to improve by reconstruction. Despite this, reconstruction incurred not only a lot of construction waste, but also problems of environmental degradation, noise, traffic congestion, increasing number of households, and so on. Recently, the housing law has changed, and vertical extension remodeling focused on Small/Medium Town House is underway. This has been changed in response to the demand. This is one of essential parts in the remodeling field for the future, even though it has some problems in how uses existing buildings. Therefore, this study analyzed occurrence risk factor for each type through research materials and case analysis regarding the vertical extension remodeling of apartment housing. In addition, the relative importance was determined through questionnaires and interviews from constructors, designers, and experts in the field.

  • The purpose of this study was to seek the spatial organization and prototype landscape through literature reviews, historical evidences, and field surveys for Donggwanwangmyo(東關王廟) shrine in Seoul. The results were as follows : First, the basic layout of the main buildings in Donggwanwangmyo which is the remains influenced by China had bilateral symmetry on the central axis between the north and south. Second, the Chinese forms and features were found at Jeong-jeon and middle gate in Donggwanwangmyo, and the symbolic elements of royal authority was also found in each space of Donggwanwangmyo. Third, spatial organization was classified as the entrance and the ritual area, and the entrance area was maintained by administrators and was used as the place of ritual ceremony preparation. Fourth, the original form of Donggwanwangmyo had been damaged due to the project for making urban park in the 1970s. The most of the existing trees and shrubs which are not suitable to the shrine should be removed to recover the original landscape of Donggwanwangmyo and chui-byoung(翠屛), pond, landscape facilities also needed to be restored. Fifth, Donggwanwangmyo needed to reorganize the pious atmosphere to recover of the shrine environment, and needed to be reclassified as historical site. Finally, some criticizes that Donggwanwangmyo is the result of Toadyism, but Donggwanwangmyo can be used as the valuable tourism resource through the awareness that Donggwanwangmyo was built under the situation of Joseon Dynasty, and organization and understanding that Donggwanwangmyo is a symbolic remains for the exchange between Korea and China.

  • In the present study, a tunnel type soundproof wall with partial opening is proposed to reduce the environmental noise caused by railway vehicles traveling on bridges, which affects residents of high-rise apartment buildings; the study also attempts to minimize load due to wind and the weight of the wall. Applying the principles of computational fluid dynamics and structural mechanics, and the ray tracing method, a reduction in noise as well as of the overall weight of the soundproof walls is estimated. Analysis results show that the proposed soundproof wall with a partial opening weighs less, while reducing the wind loading by up to 30%. To prevent direct propagation of sound through openings in the wall, an acoustic louver, which is a type of silencer, could be considered for the opening. In order to achieve a similar noise effect with existing insulation material, the fluid flow and the insulation effect of the acoustic louver are analyzed. As the considered opening is in the range of 30~40% of the total length of the soundproof wall, the noise effect and wind load are reduced by 10dB and 25% respectively. Consequently, opening some part of tunnel type soundproof walls and installing louvers on the wall openings can have the effects of weight-reduction and reduced wind load. If a partial opening is applied with proper sound material application, a gain of an additional 5~10dB of noise reduction can be achieved.

  • CFRP(Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic) can maintain the same strength even if the diameter is reduced by about one - third, and the weight is about one - twentieth of that of the deformed reinforcing bars that have been used in the construction industry. In particular, it is resistant to corrosion, which is the weakest part of reinf orcing bars, and there is no concern that it will deteriorate over time, It is light and durable, so transportation costs are low and it is convenient for high-rise buildings. This paper experimentally clarifies the adhesive properties of CFRP and clarifies its behavior. That is, bond strength test was conducted with the directness of CFRP and the strength of concrete as experimental variables, and the bond mechanism was clarified experimentally. Furthermore, based on the experimental results, we constructed the bond stress-slip-strain relationship of CFRP compared to the existing deformed reinforcing bars.

  • Photovoltaic panels are hazardous electronic waste that has heavy metal as one of the hazardous components. Each year, hazardous electronic waste is increasing worldwide and every heavy rainfall exposes the photovoltaic panel to become the source of heavy metal soil contamination. the development needs a monitoring technology for this hazardous exposure. this research use relationships between SAR temporal baseline and coherence of Sentinel-1 satellite to detected photovoltaic panel. Also, the photovoltaic plant detection tested using the difference between that photovoltaic panel and the other difference surface of coherence. The author tested the photovoltaic panel and its environment to calculate differences in coherence relationships. As a result of the experiment, the coherence of the photovoltaic panel, which is assumed to be a permanent scatterer, shows a bias that is biased toward a median value of 0.53 with a distribution of 0.50 to 0.65. Therefore, further research is needed to improve errors that may occur during processing. Additionally, the author found that the change detection using a temporal baseline is possible as the rate of reduction of coherence of photovoltaic panels differs from those of artificial objects such as buildings. This result could be an efficient way to continuously monitor regardless of weather conditions, which was a limitation of the existing optical satellite image-based photovoltaic panel detection research and to understand the spatial distribution in situations such as photovoltaic panel loss.

  • Despite the limitations and difficulty in the application of CALINE3 model for air dispersion prediction of roads and tunnels construction businesses in South Korea, the model is being used in all roads construction projects. This study compared the predicted values of CALINE3 and AERMOD model that is suggested by the US EPA, to the values of GRAL model, a Lagrangian particle tracking model developed in Europe, by applying the models to the existing roads of the urban areas. The result showed low relevance to the actual measurement value in the case of CALINE3 model, thus displaying a low trusted value when applying to the urban areas. In the case of using AERMOD model, the predicted values were overly expressed compared to the actual measurement value, thus leading to the need of adding a No2 conversion method to the model in the future. In the case of GRAL model, a Lagrangian particle tracking model, the relevance between the actual and predicted values were high as the model considers the surrounding topography and the buildings all together, thus confirming that the model can be used for air dispersion prediction of the roads in the urban areas. Lastly, the result of this study testing the air prediction models in Jeongneung Measuring Station points that it is necessary for the future studies to expand the testing areas and test the validity of the models continuously.

  • This paper investigated the construction year of 'Jeongnimsa(定林寺)temple in Buyeo(扶餘) through the recent archaeological records. First, the composition of land for the construction of temple was linked with Gwanbukri(官北里) sites which is estimated as palace. The composition of land for the palace was formed at late 6th century. Second, the several furnace sites was discovered under the foundation soil layers for the construction of temple. Reference to the pottery excavated from the previous surface indicates that the workshops having been operated a period of time after the transfer of the capital to Sabi(泗?). These workshops having been operated before the construction of roof-tile buildings which were followed by the large-scale composition of land for the palace at Gwanbukri sites adjacent to the north of 'Jeongnimsa. The pottery, roof-tiles and chinese porcelain which were included in the earth laid on the ground for the construction of temple also indicates that the construction year of temple do not go up to shortly after the transfer of the capital to Sabi. This is related with that wooden pagoda would have been present before stone pagoda and the foundation of the wooden pagoda would have soared into the ground. Last, the building layout of temple is familiar to Iksan(益山) Mireuksa(彌勒寺址) temple site than the temples of Buyeo such as Wangheungsa(王興寺址) temple site. This imply that Jeongnimsa temple was not constructed shortly after the transfer of the capital to Sabi like the opinion of the existing. Jeongnimsa temple was probably constructed at late 6th century when composition of the Sabi city was actively made.
