This paper proposes a wearable hand rehabilitation device, DULEX, for persons with functional paralysis of upper-limbs after stoke. DULEX has three degrees of freedom for rehabilitation exercises for wrist and fingers except the thumb. The main function of DULEX is to extend the range of motions of finger and wrist being contracture. DULEX is designed by using a parallel mechanism, and its parameters such as length and location of links are determined by kinematic analysis. The motion trajectory of the designed DULEX is aligned to human hand to prevent a slip. To reduce total weight of DULEX, artificial air muscles are used for actuating each joint motion. In feedback control, each joint angle is indirectly estimated from the relations of the input air pressure and the output muscle length. Experimental results show that DULEX is feasible in hand rehabilitation for stroke survivals.

Wholesale club is one of the fastest expanding retailer formats. Given its key features such as limited assortment and no promotion policy, the current paper provides a theory on why the wholesale clubs charge their members fixed annual fees. In a competitive setting with supermarkets, the proposed model demonstrates that the membership fee is the optimal reaction of wholesale clubs to supermarkets" sales promotion. More specifically, the positive amount of annual fee is only justified under the condition that there exists consumer heterogeneity in consumption rate and when the supermarket exercises price promotion on the product that the wholesale club carries. This paper describes the competition in a stylized fashion and derives the optimal membership fee under a scenario where retail promotion is present. This study is valuable in that it offers a different explanation on wholesale club membership fee than conventional wisdoms such as cost sharing and that it provides insights to the managers who consider no-fee format.

Background: This study analyzes the effects of the individual's health behavior on the health and the medical demand for the management of health and medical expenses. Methods: This study uses the Korea Health Panel Survey data from 2010 to 2015. We utilize the panel ordered logit model and the panel Tobit model with the subjective health status and the medical expenses as the dependent variables. Results: Chronic diseases would cause the deterioration of his or her health and the increase in medical expenses. Smoking and drinking alcohol would deteriorate one's health. The total amount of cigarettes increases medical expenses. Exercises could make people healthier, whereas excessive exercise might increase medical expenses. Private health insurance would increase medical expenses. Conclusion: Since health could reduce the medical expenses, people should promote one's health by changing one's behavior for health.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the elderly's motivation to participate in ball games on social support and subjective feelings of happiness. The subjects of this study were elderly people aged 65 or older who lived in Gwangju in 2020 and participated in the ball game movement. Besides, 150 males, 150 females, and 300 total subjects were selected using the convenient sampling method. The survey tool focuses on the motivation for participation in ball game movement, social support, and subjective happiness, and the data collected using this are used for the SPSS 20.0 version, and use statistics are processed according to the purpose of analysis. The results obtained through this research process are as follows. First, it was found that the elderly's motivation to participate in ball game exercise partially affected social support. Second, it was found that the elderly's motivation to participate in ball game exercises had a partial effect on subjective happiness. Third, it was found that the elderly's social support partially affected the subjective feelings of happiness.

Give high priority to the technologies that can be directly applicable to the U-City development projects which are in progress by many central and local governments. Create a real world product at the end of R&D phase by testing prototypes in test-beds or test-labs. Recently, new construction technologies have been developed, but they are rarely being applied to the construction filed. In this paper, the basic design was examined so that various technologies can be selected through a test-bed, analyzed for the real situation, and applied to actual construction sites. Improve productivity of regional and urban construction exercises and improve competitiveness of related products and services using IT-based telemetering/GIS technology.

Physical activities enhance blood flow in the vessels, which may increase the quality of medicine delivery. The emergence of revolutionary technologies such as nanoscience, made it possible to treat the incurable illnesses such as cancer. This paper investigates the impact of sport and physical exercises on the quality and quantity of the drug-delivery based on the mathematical modeling of a nanomotor made by nanotubes carrying the nano-drug capsules. Accordingly, the mathematical equations of rotating nanomotor are generated by considering the both of higher-order beam model and nonlocal strain gradient model, as a comprehensive continuum theory. Next, through the generalized differential quadrature together with Newmark-beta methods, the differential relations are discretized and solved. Finally, the impact of varied parameters on the dynamical behavior of the nanomotor is examined in detail. The outcomes of this investigation can be useful to achieve an excellent design of nanomotors carrying nano-drugs.

ChatGPT significantly broadens the application of artificial intelligence (AI) services across various domains, with one of its primary functions being assistance in programming and coding. Nevertheless, due to the short history of ChatGPT, there have been few studies analyzing its coding capabilities in Korean higher education. In this paper, we evaluate it using exam questions from three foundational programming courses at S University. According to the experimental results, ChatGPT successfully generated Python, C, and JAVA programs, and the code quality is on par with that of high-achieving students. The powerful coding capabilities of ChatGPT imply the need for a strict prohibition of its usage in coding tests; however, it also suggests significant potential for enhancing practical exercises in the educational aspect.

Previous research has demonstrated that happy moods are known to promote feeling-based processing, whereas sad moods promote reason-based processing. The current research investigates a boundary condition for the effects of a happy mood on feeling-based decision making. This research proposes that the level of control (low vs. high) one exercises in a happy situation can promote a greater reliance on feelings (vs. reasons) in making judgments and decisions. Specifically, we hypothesize that (1) a happy individual in a situation where control level is low (vs. high) will be more likely to choose a cognitively (vs. affectively) superior option (hypothesis 1), and (2) a happy individual in a situation where control level is low (vs. high) will exert reason- (vs. feeling-) based processing (hypothesis 2). Consistent with the hypothesis 1, the results of two experiments show that happy individuals are more likely to choose cognitively versus affectively superior options in a situation where control level is low (vs. high). Moreover, the mediation analysis confirms that happy individuals are more likely to rely on cognitive, reason-based decision making when their control level is low, which supports the hypothesis 2.

The characteristic aspects of learning a foreign language require special resources and tools for online learning. Criteria for choosing educational platforms depend on key elements of an academic subject area. Microsoft Teams (hereafter, MT) educational platform is competitive one because it meets most of the needs that arise during the formation of a secondary linguistic persona. Due to the large number of corporate programs, there are a successful acquisition of language skills and the implementation of all types of oral activities of students. A significant MT advantage is the constant analysis and monitoring of the platform of participants' needs in the educational process by developers. The article highlights MT advantages and disadvantages. The attention is drawn to individual programs, which, in the authors' opinion, are the most successful to learn writing, reading, speaking, listening, as well as organize classes that meet needs of modern foreign students.

Gait is walking attitude and indicating state. The body's gait is a good mix in the center of body mechanics and exercises to wake up gently at the same time switch is a pass which is complicated at legs various joints. The shifting action what swing phase and stance phase rhythmic movement of body. One from piece moves with different dot. Especially plain walking and stair walking as a vehicle has been used frequently. Characteristics of the stair walking while the balanced the horizontal and vertical movement. Stair walking often takes place in everyday. It requires large range more than walking at plain in the moment and joint range of gait motion. And consistently applied to joints and various types of loads at legs joint may involve joint disorders. In this study, spastic cerebral palsy existing artificial limbs for disabled people when developing calibration equinus deformity patients induce muscle pain when walking on stairs independently, to reduce the research. Comparing the characteristics of the walking up the stairs for analysis patellofemoral joint pain as a result it is to provide engineering data.
