캐나다 환경산업의 조류 바이오매스 이용 생흡착 기술 (Biosorption Technology Using Algal Biomass in Canadian Environment Industries)

  • We Investigated minutely how the biosorption technology using algal biomass is opened in Canadian technology society. Making comparative study for relative technologies in views of overall unit operation cost, we could grasp next facts. - Algal biomass plays the competitive performance for various metals. - Algal biomass biosorbent is regenerated. - Reactor system is not and involved one. This means that algal biomass occupies the strong position as biosorbent. Especially, in North America, for the purpose of metal bearing wastewater treatment, 20 hundred million US dollars was appropriated a sum for the purchase of ion exchange resin. But it is only thirty million US dollars if algal biomass biosorbent is used on behalf of ion exchange resin. Furthermore, the expenses for same treatment can be cut down additively through metal recovery.

  • We synthesized ion exchange resin that can remove $NO_3\;^-$ selectively rather than $SO_4\;^{2-}$. Ion exchange property of the synthesized ion exchange resin occurred like the following process, $NO_3\;^-$ > $SO_4\;^{2-}$, the efficiency of functional group to remove $NO_3\;^-$ occurred in the process of $NPr_3$ > $NBu_3$ > $NEt_3$ > $NMe_3$ > $NPe_3$ > $N(EtOH)_3$, and the efficiency of functional group to remove $SO_4\;^{2-}$ occurred in the process of $NMe_3$ > $NEt_3$ > $NPr_3$ > $NBu_3$ > $NPe_3$.

Evaluation of 0ff-gas Characteristics in Vitrification Process of ion-Exchange Resin

  • The properties of off-gas generated from vitrification process of ion-exchange resin were characterized. Theoretical composition and flow rate of the off-gas were calculated based on chemical composition of resin and it's burning condition inside CCM. The calculated off-gas flow rate was 67.9Nm$^3$/h at the burning rate of 40kg/h. And the composition of off-gas was avaluated as $CO_2$(41.4%), steam(40.0%), $O_2$(13.3%), NO(3.6%), and SO$_2$(1.6%) in order. Then, actual flow rate and composition of off-gas were measured during pilot-scale demonstration tests and the results were compared with theoretical values. The actual flow rate of off-gas was about 1.6 times higher than theoretical one. The difference between theoretical and actual flow rates was caused by the in-leakage of air to the system, and the in-leakage rate was evaluated as 36.3Nm$^3$/h. Because of continuous change in the combustion parameters inside CCM, during demonstration tests, the concentration of toxic gases showed wide fluctuation. However, the concentration of CO, a barometer of incompleteness of combustion inside CCM, was stabilized soon. The result showed quasi-equilibrium state was achieved two hours after feeding of resin.

  • Relatively high carbon-14 emissions, which occurred at PHWR Plant during 1998 and 1999, made the site staff to implement several operational improvements: 1) the frequency and volume of the moderator cover gas purging were reduced through increased $O_2$ additions to the cover gas, 2) the 'old' resin columns were not used during re-start of the reactor from outage, 3) efforts were made to minimize air ingress, 4) the maximum service time of moderator ion-exchange columns were restricted to about 80 days. Through the improvements, the carbon-14 emission from each PHWR reactor returned to the normal levels during the remainder of 1999 and during 2000. We carried out a special surveillance at W-1 and W-3 from September 2001 to August 2002 to properly evaluate ways to optimize the use of moderator ion exchange resins from a C-14 perspective. The surveillance showed that only data that provided an operational marker for deciding when to remove the IX-resin column is an observed increase in the C-14 stack emissions themselves. Also, it is shown that any increase over the rate of 0.4 Ci $month^{-1}$ for two consecutive weeks may be the indication for an ion-exchange resin column change, especially if the IX-resin column has been in service for more than 80 days.

  • 양이온 교환수지(Ion Exchange Resin CGC 241)와 2염기산인 말론산 혹은 프탈산이온이 들어있는 용액에서 방사성 알칼리토류금속 이온이 수지와 용액사이에 어떻게 분배되는가를 실온에서 조사함으로써 알칼리토류금속의 유기산 착물 형성에 관한 연구를 하였다. 용매로서 H2O, 20% 에탄올-물 및 20% 아세톤-물을 사용하였고, 용액의 pH는 7.2∼7.5로 조절하였고, 이온강도는 0.10∼0.11fh 유지하였다. 본 연구결과 알칼리토류금속 이온과 말론산 및 프탈산 사이에 1:1착물이 모든 용매계에서 형성되었고 착물의 안정도는 다음순으로 증가됨을 알았다. $Ba^{++}\;<\;Sr^{++}\;<\;Ca^{++}$, 말론산 < 프탈산, 수용액 < 혼합용매

  • High performance amino acid analyzing method has been developed for the routine analysis of taurine in preparations. Ion-exchange resin #2619 Hitachi Custom Ion-Exchange Resin, $2.6(I.D.){\times}150$(length)mm was used as column, buffer I, pH 3.3 as mobile phase. The retention time of taurine was 7 minutes. Calibration curve by peak height for standard taurine was linear from 2.5ppm to 25ppm. The reproducibility showed relative standard deviation $\pm$1.9% when analyzed 10 times for standard solution. The samples could be continuously analyzed without regenerating the resin between samples. Five samples were applied to column every 12 min. and then the resin was regenerated for 30 min. during one analyzing cycle time, 90 min. The automatic amino acid analyzer has made it possible to assay multiple samples in a relatively short period of time using the analytical magnetic program card. The high sensitivity and specificity of the analytical column of the automatic amino acid analyzer permits the routine analysis of taurine in preparations.

양이온교환수지에 대한 Co(II), Ni(II), Cr(III), Fe(III) 이온의 흡착 특성 - 원자로 일차 냉각재 계통내 탈염 공정에의 적용 (Adsorption Characteristics of Co(II), Ni(II), Cr(III) and Fe(III) Ions onto Cation Exchange Resin - Application to the Demineralizing Process in a Primary Coolant System of PWR)

  • 가압경수로 일차냉각수내 탈염공정의 효과적 운용을 위하여 Amberlite IRN-77 양이온 교환수지의 특성 및 Co(II), Ni(II), Cr(III), Fe(III) 이온의 흡착거동을 연구하였다. 용존 금속이온 농도가 약 $200\;mgL^{-1}$인 용액 100 mL에 대하여 이온교환수지 투입량은 약 0.6 g이 가장 적절하였으며, 이온교환 반응 속도 측정 결과 대부분의 흡착은 반응 1 시간 이내에 신속히 발생하였다. 수지에서의 양이온 교환은 Langmuir 흡착등온선을 잘 따르는 것으로 나타났으나, Fe(III)의 경우, 다른 금속과는 달리 쉽게 평형에 이르지 못하였으며 이는 공기와 오래 접촉한 결과 철산화물 또는 수산화물을 형성하며 용액 중으로부터 침전되기 때문인 것으로 관찰되었다. 전자가가 동일한 Co(II)와 Ni(II)가 동시에 포함된 모의 조제용액에 대하여 흡착실험을 한 결과, 각 이온은 거의 동일한 흡착거동을 보였다. 그러나 전자가가 큰 Cr(III)이 첨가된 경우, 이들은 기존에 수지에 흡착되어 있던 전자가가 낮은 금속들을 탈착시키고 대신 흡착하는 경향을 보였다. 따라서 이온교환수지를 이용한 효과적인 탈염 공정을 위해서는 용존 금속 상호간의 경쟁적 흡착관계의 규명이 필요한 것으로 여겨진다.

Web Spray 법을 이용한 복합 양이온교환섬유의 제조 및 암모니아 흡착특성 (Preparation of Hybrid Cation Ion Exchange Fibers by Web Spray and Their Adsorption Properties for Ammonia Gas)

  • 본 연구는 점착제 분사방식으로 고성능 hybrid ion exchange fiber(HIEF)를 제조하고 이들의 암모니아 흡착성능 및 기본물성을 측정하였다. HIEF의 이온교환용량은 수지 부착량이 증가함에 따라 증가하였으며 단일 수지와 이온교환섬유의 이온교환용량보다 크게 나타났다. 또한 암모니아의 제거율은 HIEF의 충전밀도가 증가할수록 증가하였으며 흡착 파과시간은 270분으로 섬유나 수지에 비해 길게 나타났고 최대 암모니아 흡착량은 94%이었다. 또한 암모니아 흡착 파과시간은 유량 및 농도가 증가함에 따라 빠르게 진행되었다. 암모니아 반응속도 상수(k)는 유입되는 가스농도의 증가에 따라 증가하였으며, 질량이 증가할수록 감소하였으며 가스 유속이 증가할수록 반응속도 상수(k)가 증가하였다.

  • 스티렌과 디비닐벤젠을 이용한 공중합체의 합성에 희석제로서 헵탄과 톨루엔을 사용하여 다공성 및 미세구조에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 스티렌디비닐벤젠 공중합체를 아미노화하여 음이온 교환수지를 합성하였으며 이 수지의 이온교환용량과 알코올 수용액에서 붕산에 대한 분포계수 값을 구하였고 이온교환 크로마토그래피와 질량분석기를 이용하여 붕소의 동위원소 분리효과를 연구하였다.
