The Threshold Error Correction Model is used. Results - The results demonstrate different relationships between the stock price index and oil price under different investor sentiments; however, the stock price index and oil price could adjust to a long-term equilibrium the long-term causality tests between them were all significant. Conclusions - The relationship between the WTI and HANG SENG Index is more significant than the Shanghai Composites Index and Shenzhen Composite Index, when using the AlphaShares Chinese Volatility Index (ASC-VIX) as the investor sentiment variable and threshold.

  • The main aim of the study is to provide empirical evidence about the association between stock market exchange data and weighted price index. This research utilized monthly reported data from the Amman stock exchange market (ASE) and the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ). The weighted price index was employed as the dependent variable and the independent variables were weighted price index (WPI), turnover ratio (TOR), number of trading days (NTD), price-earnings ratio (PER), and dividends yield ratio (DY). The time period of the study was from January 2015 to October 2020. The study's methodology follows a quantitative approach using the multiple regression method to test the hypotheses of the study. The final results of the study provided conclusive evidence that the market-weighted price index is strongly and positively correlated to three predetermined variables, namely; turnover ratio, price-earnings ratio, and dividend yield but no evidence was obtained for the effect of the number of trading days. The finding of the current study proved that the market price index is not only influenced by macro factors, but also by other variables assumed to not beneficial for the judgment of price index movements.

  • Purpose: This research aims to investigate the impact of corporate integrity on stock price crash risk. Research design, data, and methodology: Taking 1419 firms listed in Shenzhen Stock Exchange in China as a sample, this paper empirically analyzed the relationship between corporate integrity and stock price crash risk. The main integrity data was hand-collected from Shenzhen Stock Exchange Website. Other financial data was collected from CSMAR Database. Results: Findings show that corporate integrity can significantly decrease stock price crash risk. After changing the selection of samples, model estimation methods and the proxy variable of stock price crash risk, the conclusion is still valid. Further research shows that the relationship between corporate integrity and stock price crash risk is only found in firms with weak internal control and firms in poor legal system areas. Conclusions: Results of the study suggest that corporate integrity has a significant influence on behaviors of managers. Business ethics reduces the likelihood of managers to overstate financial performance and hide bad news, which leads to the low likelihood of future stock price crashes. Meanwhile, corporate integrity can supplement internal control and legal system in decreasing stock price crash risks.

  • This research explores the appropriate rubber pricing model and the consistent empirical evidence. This model has been derived from the utility function and firm profit-maximization model of commodity goods. The finding shows that the period t - 1 affects expected commodity price and expected profit of commodity production. In fact, a change in the world price of rubber in the past period led to a change in the expected price of rubber in the short run which influenced the expected rubber profit. As a result, the past-period free on board price has an entirety effect on expected farm price of rubber given an exchange rate. In addition, the rubber pricing model indicates that the profit of local farmer on rubber plant depends solely on the world price of rubber in the short run in case of Thailand. In an empirical study, it was found that a change in the price of ribbed smoke sheet 3 in Singapore Commodity Exchange significantly and positively determined the fluctuation of rubber price at the farm gate in Thailand which was consistent with the behavior of the Thai farmers. Both prices are also cointegrated in the long run. That is, the result states that the VECM is an appropriated pricing model for forecasting the farm price in Thailand.

  • Common belief in border regions holds that Mexican cross-border shoppers play a larger role in the regional economic base than they do and that NAFTA will provide a bigger stimulus to the regional economy than it is likely. In the regional economy than it is likely. In the first case, price elasticities are implicitly underestimated as highly inelastic and in the latter case, overestimated as highly elastic. This paper provides empirical evidence on the effects of distance and real exchange rates as price proxies on both field survey and population-imputed estimates of cross-border shopping. After estimating both distance-based and real exchange rate-based estimates of price elasticities of Mexican shopper demand for U.S. border-region goods, implications are obtained concerning the relative importance for U.S. border-regon economies of more distant Mexican markets, and the likely impacts of NAFTA.

  • This study focuses on MRO e-Marketplace and attempts to research how companies select the structure of e-Marketplace governance and how it influences purchasing performance. Furthermore, a longitudinal study is conducted to analyze the dynamic relationship between variables in our research model. The research gives the following results. First, as the utilization level of e-Marketplace increases, the level of relational exchange between purchasing company and e-Marketplace increases. The increased utilization level enhances purchasing efficiency rather than reducing purchasing price. Secondly, as the level of relational exchange between purchasing companies and e-Marketplace increases, system integration increases, whereas supply externality decreases. Accordingly, system integration improves purchasing efficiency, whereas the low supply externality does not help lower purchasing price. Third, compared to the initial growth stage, the stable stage of e-Marketplace has the significantly increased level of relational exchange and purchasing efficiency through system integration, rather than the reduction of purchasing price by supply externality.

  • It is undisputable that crude oil and its price fluctuations are major components that affect most of the countries' economies. Recent studies have demonstrated that beside the impact that crude oil price fluctuations have on common macroeconomic indicators like gross domestic product (GDP), inflation rates, exchange rates, unemployment rate, etc., it also has a strong influence on stock markets and their performance. This relationship has been examined in a number of settings, but it is yet to be unraveled in the Omani context. Accordingly, the main purpose of this study is to examine the possible effect of the oil price fluctuations on stock price movements. The study applies Toda and Yamamoto's (1995) Granger non-causality test on the daily Oman stock index (Muscat Securities Market Index) and oil prices between the period of 2 January 2003 and 13 March 2016. The results indicated that the oil price fluctuations have a significant impact on stock index movements. However, the stock price movements do not have a significant impact on oil prices. These findings have significant implications not only for the Omani economy but also for the economy of similar countries, particularly in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The latter should carefully consider their policies and strategies regarding crude oil production and the generated income allocation as it might potentially affect the financial markets performance in these countries.
