A Study on Learner's Recognition of Computational Thinking Education Model Using EXCEL VBA (EXCEL VBA를 이용한 컴퓨팅 사고력 교육 모델에 대한 학습자의 인식 연구)

  • The goal of this study is to test the hypothesis that the practicality of EXCEL VBA will be beneficial for SW education for SW non-majors. To this end, we planned the education for non-majors using the EXCEL VBA and conducted 15 weeks of education. According to a follow-up survey conducted after the 15-week education period, 72.21% of the survey respondents said EXCEL was practical. Also, learners who were aware of the necessity of SW education and the importance of SW competence recognized that the computational thinking education using EXCEL VBA had a positive effect on the improvement of computer-related knowledge and experience. Also, learners recognized that learning with EXCEL was easy, while learning with VBA was difficult. The learning process using VBA needs to be composed of project-oriented educational contents that can give a sense of achievement to learners rather than programming-oriented education. And continuous research on project-based learning is needed.

  • Statistical analysis menus of MS Excel software, with powerful spreadsheet functions has not been modified since Excel 2000 Edition and its utilization is very low. To improve utilization of Excel menu for statistical analysis, this research compared outputs of Excel statistical menus and computed test statistics, and developed high-level macros. Outputs of Excel menus, both oneway layout and twoway layout, on real data are exactly same as the computed test statistics, and therefore, Excel menus for statistical analysis are reliable. Macros to provide results for Analysis of Variance with a block and multiple comparison of means are developed using Excel functions.

Effectiveness of Excel-based Teaching Method for Management Science (엑셀을 활용한 경영과학 강의방식의 효과에 관한 연구)

  • New method has been widely used for teaching Management Science since the mid of 1990s. The new teaching method is distinguished from traditional method in several aspects. The mowt distintion of the new method is that Excel based approach is used in order to model and analyze quantitative problems. Due to the introduction of Excel based teaching method model formulation and interpretation is more emphasized than algorithms. By using this new method students are expected to be more interested in Management Science class and easily use several Management Science techniques in real world problems. Though Excel based teaching method has become more prevalent, there exist no empirical research to analyze the effectiveness of Excel based teaching method. This paper will empirically analyze how effective Excel based teaching method is. For this purpose survey data are collected fro professors teaching Management Science and analyzed by using t-test.

  • 7차 교육과정(1997)의 도입으로 확률 및 통계단원이 중등 수학 교과과정에서 독자적인 영역을 확보하게 된 만큼 그 목적에 부합하면서 효율적이고 흥미를 유발시킬 수 있도록 교과교육 매체 개발에 투자를 해야 할 시기라고 본다. 교과교육 매체의 한 방법으로 Excel을 중학 교육과정에 나타난 통계교과내용을 지원하게끔 Excel의 기본 메뉴, 분석도구, 그리고 Visual Basic을 활용한 매크로 작성방법에 대하여 다루었다.

  • Excel is a commercially available computer program that is used worldwide. Excel is widely utilized; it is helpful in household ledgers, corporate tax calculations, management of academic grades or reports, etc. However from the beginning, inaccuracies and errors in calculations have constantly been identified, so the program is updated regularly. Decimal-to-binary conversion is a simple and repetitive task. So, use of a computer program to do this calculation is suitable. Errors in decimal-to-binary conversion are surprising and are not easily understood. Therefore, it is important to identify the flaws in Excel, which unfortunately still exist today. It is necessary to determine the cause of this type of error, and I hope for a fix to be implemented quickly.

  • Recently, there have been several studies to develop the multivariate data analysis system which can be readily used. The common characteristic of these studies is to develop the GUI system to which advanced statistical methods can be conveniently applied. In an extension of these studies, this study aims to supply users in various fields an interactive system with the convenience of the environment of GUI, which is constructed with the Excel macro and VBA, to apply multivariate data analysis methods easily. This system provides a graphic-oriented and menu-centered user interface in the Microsoft Excel which is widely used spreadsheet and analysis program.

  • A case study to show MS Excel's convenient and powerful functions was conducted to test hypotheses with subway data. Quantitative variables were described using descriptive menu, and qualitative variables were described using histogram menu of a MS Excel software. Relationships were tested using regression menu, differences were tested using t-test menu, and factors were tested using variance-layout menu of a Excel software. Data input, management, and statistical analysis were done successfully with only a MS Excel software.

  • 통계 수업에서는 실제 자료를 직접 다루는 활동이 있어야 하며 이것은 계산기 또는 컴퓨터가 있어야 한다. 계산기 기능만으로는 많은 양의 자료를 반복해서 다루는데 문제가 있다. 그렇다고 통계 응용프로그램을 사용하는 것은 통계의 원리와 과정을 배우는 것이 목적인 고등학교 통계 교육과정에 맞지 않다. 이러한 면에서 볼 때 Excel은 계산기적 기능과 통계적 기능을 모두 갖추고 있으며 또한 시중에 많이 보급된 장점도 있다. 통계문제를 처리할 때 Excel의 계산기 기능을 사용하여 교과서의 원리대로 계산한 후 Excel의 통계기능을 이용하여 검토해 봄으로써 향후 통계 응용프로그램을 다루는 기초를 쌓을 수 있다. 그러나 Excel은 적분기능이 없어 연속분포에서 적분이 필요한 경우는 MathView를 사용하였다. 제7차 고등학교 통계 교육과정의 내용을 Excel을 활용하여 지도하는 모델을 개발해 봄으로써 새 수학과 교과서 개발을 위한 기초연구를 제공하고자 한다.
