임상간호교육자의 교육요구도 우선순위 분석: Borich 요구도와 locus for focus model 활용 (An analysis of the educational needs priorities for clinical nurse educators: Utilizing the Borich needs assessment and the locus for focus model)

  • Purpose: This study used a descriptive investigative design to compare the educational needs and priorities of education-dedicated nurses and preceptors regarding clinical nurse educator competency. Methods: A survey was conducted from March to April 2023 with 308 participants, including 140 education-dedicated nurses and 168 preceptors. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a paired t-test with the IBM SPSS 26.0 program. For the purpose of analyzing educational needs, we further analyzed data through the Borich needs assessment and the locus for focus model. Results: Among the clinical nurse educator competency, both education-dedicated nurses and preceptors identified "new theory and practice" as the highest priority educational need. Additionally, education-dedicated nurses prioritized "teaching design ability," "teaching evaluation ability," and "evidence-based nursing/practice and research," while preceptors prioritized "clinical nursing knowledge" and "professional development ability" as their educational needs. Conclusion: While both education-dedicated nurses and preceptors responded that education is necessary for all the competency areas required of clinical nurse educators, variations were observed in their reported educational needs and priorities. Thus, it is imperative to develop and implement a differentiated education program for enhancing the competency of clinical nurse educators that considers the distinct requirements of education-dedicated nurses and preceptors.

A Systematic Review of Evidence for Education and Training Interventions in Microsurgery

  • Over the past decade, driven by advances in educational theory and pressures for efficiency in the clinical environment, there has been a shift in surgical education and training towards enhanced simulation training. Microsurgery is a technical skill with a steep competency learning curve on which the clinical outcome greatly depends. This paper investigates the evidence for educational and training interventions of traditional microsurgical skills courses in order to establish the best evidence practice in education and training and curriculum design. A systematic review of MEDLINE, EMBASE, and PubMed databases was performed to identify randomized control trials looking at educational and training interventions that objectively improved microsurgical skill acquisition, and these were critically appraised using the BestBETs group methodology. The databases search yielded 1,148, 1,460, and 2,277 citations respectively. These were then further limited to randomized controlled trials from which abstract reviews reduced the number to 5 relevant randomised controlled clinical trials. The best evidence supported a laboratory based low fidelity model microsurgical skills curriculum. There was strong evidence that technical skills acquired on low fidelity models transfers to improved performance on higher fidelity human cadaver models and that self directed practice leads to improved technical performance. Although there is significant paucity in the literature to support current microsurgical education and training practices, simulated training on low fidelity models in microsurgery is an effective intervention that leads to acquisition of transferable skills and improved technical performance. Further research to identify educational interventions associated with accelerated skill acquisition is required.

인체해부학 수업에서 골학실습의 활용 사례 연구: 임상병리학과 학생을 중심으로 (Case Study on Osteology Practice at Human Anatomy Course: Focused on the Students in the Department of Biomedical Laboratory Science)

  • 본 연구는 의과대학을 포함하지 않은 보건의료대학에서 실물(시신)실습이 용이하지 않다는 사실에 근거하여, 인체해부학 수업에서 골학실습을 시행했을 때 맨눈해부학의 교육개선 효과가 있는지 살펴볼 목적으로 실시한 국내 최초의 연구이다. 연구방법은 임상병리학과 1학년 학생을 대상으로 인체해부학 수업에 골학실습을 실시하였고 실습 전 후에 자기보고식 설문과 실습 종료 후 지문평가 하였다. 설문지와 지문평가지의 각 문항은 고등교육 교과과정과 성별에 따라 분석하였다. 연구결과, 골학실습이 해부학수업의 흥미를 유발할 뿐만 아니라 해부학 수업을 이해하는데 도움이 되었고, 실습 후 대부분의 학생들은 뼈의 이름을 잘 알고 있었으나 이과보다는 문과출신 학생이 뼈의 해부학적 방향을 묻는 질문에 매우 취약했다. 그리고 대부분의 학생은 골학실습 후에도 대부분의 학생들은 실물실습을 하고자 하는 바람을 가지고 있었다. 결론으로 골학실습은 의과대학을 포함하지 않은 보건의료대학 임상병리학과 학생에게 해부학수업에 대한 기대 부응 및 학습효과의 증대를 가져왔다. 본 연구를 통해 맨눈해부학 교육은 이론뿐만 아니라 실습이 병행한다면 학습효과를 높일 수 있음을 제언한다.

신생아중환자실 간호사가 인식한 간호업무의 중요도와 수행 자신감 (Analysis of the importance of nursing care and performance confidence perceived by nurses in the neonatal intensive care unit)

  • Purpose: Neonatal nurses are expected to have clinical competency to provide qualified and safe care for high-risk infants. An educational intervention to enhance nurses' clinical competence is often a priority in the nursing field. This study was conducted to explore nurses' perceived importance and performance confidence of nursing care activities in neonatal intensive care units. Methods: One hundred forty-one neonatal nurses from seven hospitals across South Korea participated in the online survey study. The scale of neonatal nursing care activity consisted of 8 subdomains including professional practice (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, education, research, and leadership). The Importance-Performance Matrix was used to analyze the importance of and confident performance in each of the nursing subdomains. Results: Both importance and performance confidence increased as nurses' age (p=.042 and p<.001) and clinical experience (p=.004 and p<.001). Participants scored relatively higher in importance and performance confidence in the professional practice subdomains (assessment, intervention, evaluation), but scored lower in the education and research subdomains. Conclusion: To provide evidence-based nursing care for high-risk infants in neonatal intensive care units, educational interventions should be developed to support nurses based on the findings of the research.

융복합 시대 준비를 위한 국내 간호대학 교육에서의 비판적 사고 연구(1996-2014) 동향 분석 (A literature Review (1996-2014) on Critical Thinking in Korean Nursing Education for the Era of Convergence)

  • 본 연구는 융복합 시대에 중요한 능력인 비판적 사고와 관련되어 국내 간호대학 교육에서 연구된 논문(1996-2014) 75편을 분석한 문헌고찰 연구이다. 고찰 결과 2006년을 기점으로 비판적 사고 관련 연구가 크게 증가하였으며, 연구 설계는 관련 요인을 탐색하는 수준에서 경로모형 구축까지 진행되었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 비판적 사고에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 학력, 연령, 교우관계, 학업성적, 임상실습 기간, 전공만족도, 자아존중감, 자기효능감, 학습방법 등이 확인되었으며, 비판적사고 성향이 높을수록 임상실습 스트레스, 인지된 스트레스가 낮아지고, 문제해결 능력, 임상수행능력, 감정조절, 의사소통 능력이 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 비판적 사고는 단기간에 획득, 향상되기 어려우므로 지금까지 연구에서 확인된 비판적 사고와 관련된 원인 및 결과변수를 바탕으로 간호교육과정에서 장기적이고 체계적으로 비판적 사고를 향상시키기 위한 교육 프로그램을 개발할 것을 제언한다.

시맨틱 웹 기술혁신의 채택과 확산: 질적연구접근법 (The Adoption and Diffusion of Semantic Web Technology Innovation: Qualitative Research Approach)

  • Internet computing is a disruptive IT innovation. Semantic Web can be considered as an IT innovation because the Semantic Web technology possesses the potential to reduce information overload and enable semantic integration, using capabilities such as semantics and machine-processability. How should organizations adopt the Semantic Web? What factors affect the adoption and diffusion of Semantic Web innovation? Most studies on adoption and diffusion of innovation use empirical analysis as a quantitative research methodology in the post-implementation stage. There is criticism that the positivist requiring theoretical rigor can sacrifice relevance to practice. Rapid advances in technology require studies relevant to practice. In particular, it is realistically impossible to conduct quantitative approach for factors affecting adoption of the Semantic Web because the Semantic Web is in its infancy. However, in an early stage of introduction of the Semantic Web, it is necessary to give a model and some guidelines and for adoption and diffusion of the technology innovation to practitioners and researchers. Thus, the purpose of this study is to present a model of adoption and diffusion of the Semantic Web and to offer propositions as guidelines for successful adoption through a qualitative research method including multiple case studies and in-depth interviews. The researcher conducted interviews with 15 people based on face-to face and 2 interviews by telephone and e-mail to collect data to saturate the categories. Nine interviews including 2 telephone interviews were from nine user organizations adopting the technology innovation and the others were from three supply organizations. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect data. The interviews were recorded on digital voice recorder memory and subsequently transcribed verbatim. 196 pages of transcripts were obtained from about 12 hours interviews. Triangulation of evidence was achieved by examining each organization website and various documents, such as brochures and white papers. The researcher read the transcripts several times and underlined core words, phrases, or sentences. Then, data analysis used the procedure of open coding, in which the researcher forms initial categories of information about the phenomenon being studied by segmenting information. QSR NVivo version 8.0 was used to categorize sentences including similar concepts. 47 categories derived from interview data were grouped into 21 categories from which six factors were named. Five factors affecting adoption of the Semantic Web were identified. The first factor is demand pull including requirements for improving search and integration services of the existing systems and for creating new services. Second, environmental conduciveness, reference models, uncertainty, technology maturity, potential business value, government sponsorship programs, promising prospects for technology demand, complexity and trialability affect the adoption of the Semantic Web from the perspective of technology push. Third, absorptive capacity is an important role of the adoption. Fourth, suppler's competence includes communication with and training for users, and absorptive capacity of supply organization. Fifth, over-expectance which results in the gap between user's expectation level and perceived benefits has a negative impact on the adoption of the Semantic Web. Finally, the factor including critical mass of ontology, budget. visible effects is identified as a determinant affecting routinization and infusion. The researcher suggested a model of adoption and diffusion of the Semantic Web, representing relationships between six factors and adoption/diffusion as dependent variables. Six propositions are derived from the adoption/diffusion model to offer some guidelines to practitioners and a research model to further studies. Proposition 1 : Demand pull has an influence on the adoption of the Semantic Web. Proposition 1-1 : The stronger the degree of requirements for improving existing services, the more successfully the Semantic Web is adopted. Proposition 1-2 : The stronger the degree of requirements for new services, the more successfully the Semantic Web is adopted. Proposition 2 : Technology push has an influence on the adoption of the Semantic Web. Proposition 2-1 : From the perceptive of user organizations, the technology push forces such as environmental conduciveness, reference models, potential business value, and government sponsorship programs have a positive impact on the adoption of the Semantic Web while uncertainty and lower technology maturity have a negative impact on its adoption. Proposition 2-2 : From the perceptive of suppliers, the technology push forces such as environmental conduciveness, reference models, potential business value, government sponsorship programs, and promising prospects for technology demand have a positive impact on the adoption of the Semantic Web while uncertainty, lower technology maturity, complexity and lower trialability have a negative impact on its adoption. Proposition 3 : The absorptive capacities such as organizational formal support systems, officer's or manager's competency analyzing technology characteristics, their passion or willingness, and top management support are positively associated with successful adoption of the Semantic Web innovation from the perceptive of user organizations. Proposition 4 : Supplier's competence has a positive impact on the absorptive capacities of user organizations and technology push forces. Proposition 5 : The greater the gap of expectation between users and suppliers, the later the Semantic Web is adopted. Proposition 6 : The post-adoption activities such as budget allocation, reaching critical mass, and sharing ontology to offer sustainable services are positively associated with successful routinization and infusion of the Semantic Web innovation from the perceptive of user organizations.
