  • Allowing only authorized users to record and inquire in the ledger, private blockchain technology is attracting attention from institutions and companies. Based on distributed ledger technology, records are immutable. Because news via the Internet can be easily modified, the possibility of manipulation is high. Some false communication report systems are designed to prevent such harm. However, during the gap between the false communication report and verification time, contents on the website can be modified, or false evidence can be submitted intentionally. We propose a system that collects evidence using a headless browser for more accurate false communication management, and securely preserves evidence through a private blockchain and prevents possibilities of manipulation. The proposed system downloads original HTML, captures the website as an image, stores it in a transaction along with the report, and stores it in a private blockchain to ensure the integrity from acquisition to preservation of evidence.

  • Recently much research has investigated the role of attention in L2 learning, comparing the effects of explicit learning with those of implicit learning. With this background the research aims at examining the effects explicit focus on form has on L2 learning based on the acquisition of the English article system. The participants were 70 Korean college students who enrolled in English Composition classes. The experimental group received explicit focus on form including grammatical explanation, input enhancement, output practice, and negative evidence (corrective feedback) for two weeks, while the control group was exposed to sufficient input and negative evidence. Completion tasks were administered at the beginning and the end of the semester. In addition, errors in the use of English articles were analysed on their compositions both before and after the different treatments. The analyses of the results show that the explicit focus on form group improved significantly more than the control group, particularly for the definite article 'the', and some changes occurred in the distribution of article errors. These findings suggest that explicit teaching plays a more contributory role than implicit teaching in acquiring L2 knowledge in classroom-based L2 learning.

  • One of the areas of second language acquisition that enjoyed popularity in recent years is interlanguage pragmatics. The main reason for this popularity lies in the critical role of pragmatic competence in appropriate use of a target language. The aim of this paper was to examine L2 learners' pragmatic behavior in their speech act performance and determine main sources causing pragmatic difficulty. Four major sources of pragmatic errors were identified: linguistic proficiency, L1 transfer, waffling and teaching activities. Each source was discussed with empirical evidence in some detail, and teaching suggestions were provided for developing learners' pragmatic competence in EFL classrooms.

  • This study investigated Korean children's early acquisition of negatives and focused on four research questions: 1) processing of negative variations; 2) the nature of negatives when negatives are completely acquired in Korean (in which meaning and form are matched in one to one mapping); 3) the validity of Bellugi's negative acquisition model in Korean; and 4) the cause of child's erroneous sentence production: limited ability or regularity in children's cognition. The language data of the five subjects (age span; 1.1 - 3.11) were collected by their parents in the natural setting of the home. The results showed that 1) the pivot form, was processed in many ways from a simple to a complicated form, such as <(X+X')+N> <(x+x')+N,Y> <(x+x') N,(y+y')>. It appeared that the children used a simple negative format to reach a one-step advanced negative format. 2) Korean negatives are divided into range of negation in the negative sentence (part or whole), strength of negation (absolute or general), functions of meaning (negation, absences, refusal, prohibition, impossibility). All five children acquired negative sentences in all functions and the complete range after 3 years of age. 3) In spite of the differences in age level, Bellugi's four stage model was in evidence; that is, Korean children's negative acquisition was almost identical with Bellugi's tour stage model in deep structure. 4) Analyses of children's error sentences showed that the sentences with errors were made not because of the children's limitation in cognitive ability but because of the strict application of regularity of rules from the original grammars. Consequently, the children produced negative sentences using two rules: the rule of additive complexity (from simple to complex) and the rule of division (from one to several).

  • Mac OS X is the Computer Operating System that develop in Apple Inc. Mac OS X is the successor to Mac OS 9 Version which had been Apple's primary operating system since 1984. Recently, Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) has been manufactured and is distributed to user. Apple's Mac OS X Operating System is occupying about 10% in the world Operating System market share. But, Forensic tools that is utilized on digital forensic investigation can not forensic analysis about Mac OS X properly. To do forensic investigation about Mac OS X, information connected with user's action and trace can become important digital evidence in Operating System. This paper presents way about user trace data acquisition methodology in Mac OS X.

  • The present experiment investigated the effect of word length on the length of f0 intervals for North Kyungsang children. In order to find out the lengths of the f0 intervals, the f0 values at the midpoints of vowels in words were measured. F0 estimates were computed as intervals consistent with the logarithmic scale corresponding to the number of syllables in the words. The results indicated that the mean f0 intervals in words of different lengths showed a significant difference for the HH in HH vs. HHL and the LH in LH vs. LLH for North Kyungsang children. Adult speakers from the North Kyungsang region significantly differed only within the HH in HH vs. HHL. Adult speakers made a noticeable contribution in this characteristic from the children. The result of the adult study was presented to confirm whether the children used a North Kyungsang dialect. With respect to individual speaker differences, the North Kyungsang children showed more or less consistent patterns in quantile-quantile plots for the HH vs. HHL, but for the HL vs. LHL and LH vs. LLH, there were more variations than for the HH vs. HHL. The individual speakers' variation was the largest for the HL vs. LHL and the smallest for HH vs. HHL. Considering these results, the effect of word length on f0 intervals tended to show pitch accent-type-specific characteristics in the process of prosodic acquisition.

  • Objectives : This study investigated the effects of teaching English medical journals to traditional Korean medical students as a way of integrated curriculum, focusing on evidence-based traditional Korean medicine (EBKM) in the light of globalization of traditional Korean Medicine. Methods : 232 students (l16 1st year and t 16 2nd year) were asked to complete a questionnaire at the end of the course in order to validate the course's efficacy on acquisition and utilization of the latest medical knowledge as well as change of attitude toward English itself. Results : The courses were very useful in reducing discomfort toward English journals and to applying the latest medical knowledge to academic reports, clinical practices, and finally to establish abilities for EBKM. The 1st year students who took the courses for two semesters consecutively showed more significant satisfaction than the 2nd year students with only one semester. Conclusion : The findings suggest that English medical journals are an essential curriculum f3r the advance of EBKM and globalization of traditional Korean Medicine and therefore developing adequate textbooks, teaching methods, and quality of instructors should be considered for successful achievements.
