This study investigated children's cognitions of physically impossible events by characteristics of the events. The 67 subjects were 3-, 5-, and 7-year old children from one day care center and one elementary school in Seoul. Children's responses to questions regarding the events were taped and transcribed. Cognition of the events was measured by recognition of impossibility, possibility of replication, and reasons for the possibility of replication of the events. Data were analyzed by ANOVA(repeated measures), and Pearson's correlation. Children's recognition of the impossibility of the events varied by type of task : Recognition of gravity tasks was different from irreversibility tasks, but there were no differences between recognition of irreversibility and gravity and between irreversibility and object permanence. The possibility of replication correlated significantly with reasons given by the children.
The new era of multi-messenger astronomy (MMA) has arrived in 2017 with the detection of the binary neutron star merger in both gravitational wave (GW) and electromagnetic radiation (EM). Now, the new run of GW detectors are providing numerous GW events and the number GW events are expected to increase dramatically in future as the GW sensitivities improve. When the GW studies are combined with EM counterpart observations, a great synergy is expected in many areas of study such as the physical process following the compact object merger, the environment of such events (and galaxy evolution), and cosmology, Therefore, it has now become crucial to identify and characterize these GW events in optical/IR EM. In the past, we have been performing optical/NIR observation of GW events using a worldwide network of more than 10 telescopes, and are getting more actively involved in MMA of GW sources. In this talk, we will present our network of telescopes, the EM follow-up observation results of GW events including GW170817 and the O3 events in 2019, and the current issues in MMA. We will also give the future prospects of MMA, showing the forecast for the GW events and the outlook of EM MMA observations.
Safety critical systems, real time systems, and event-based systems have a complex set of events and their own interdependency, which makes them difficult to test ma Safety critic Safety critical systems, real time systems, and event-based systems have a complex set of events and their own interdependency, which makes them difficult to test manually. In order to cut down on costs, save time, and increase reliability, the model based testing approach is the best solution. Such an approach does not require applications or codes prior to generating test cases, so it leads to the early detection of faults, which helps in reducing the development time. Several model-based testing approaches have used different UML models but very few works have been reported to show the generation of test cases that use events. Test cases that use events are an apt choice for these types of systems. However, these works have considered events that happen at a user interface level in a system while other events that happen in a system are not considered. Such works have limited applications in testing the GUI of a system. In this paper, a novel model-based testing approach is presented using business events, state events, and control events that have been captured directly from requirement specifications. The proposed approach documents events in event templates and then builds an event-flow model and a fault model for a system. Test coverage criterion and an algorithm are designed using these models to generate event sequence based test scenarios and test cases. Unlike other event based approaches, our approach is able to detect the proposed faults in a system. A prototype tool is developed to automate and evaluate the applicability of the entire process. Results have shown that the proposed approach and supportive tool is able to successfully derive test scenarios and test cases from the requirement specifications of safety critical systems, real time systems, and event based systems.

The purpose of this study is to re-interpretate the meaning of place from the perspective view of events. In the realm of events, time, process, and evolution are emerging as more important elements for better places rather than space or fixed physical elements. First, this study reviews the phenomenological contribution to the meaning of place by discussing differences between positivism and phenomenology. The phenomenological approach has strengths that can perceive individual experiences and idiosyncraises through a holistic approach and qualitative methods. However, it has weaknesses such as unpredictability, subjectivity and ambiguity. In order to overcome these weaknesses, the notion of singularities(pure events) on the metaphysical plane existing between nature and culture is explored via Deleuzean concepts(Post-structuralism); singularities become events(simulacre) through ´becoming´ and these events have meaning through this process in the particular place. By this process, the subject an feed a sense of place through this meaning. Events unexpectedly create a series of events and have impact in the future. Creating various events in the particular place requires many contextural settings where the embodied perceptions could take place. Describing the potentiality of embodied perceptions demands ´smooth space´ rather than ´striated space´. Smooth space refers to the space where orientations and linkages are in continuous variation. Recent architectural and landscape architectural design projects reveal that the emphasis is placed on the open-ended set of various events unfolding over time rather than the physical settings of the place. For better landscape design, new concepts need to be introduced and implemented. These new concepts should focus on creating a series of events and considering the evolution of the place over time through multi-contextural and rhizomatical synthesis rather than rigid and static master plan of SAD(survey-analysis-design) methodology.
Objectives : This study examined the relationship of parent-related negative life events with mental health and delinquent behaviors among Korean adolescents. Methods : A total of 2,976 high school first-grade pupils (1,498 boys & 1,478 girls) taking part in the third wave of Korean Youth Panel Survey completed a self-administered questionnaire regarding parent-related life events, depressive feelings, suicidal ideation, delinquent behaviors, demographic characteristics, parental socioeconomic status, social support, and social capital. Data analyses were conducted using multivariate logistic regression. Results : After adjusting for all covariates, the more parent-related negative life events adolescents experienced throughout their whole life, the more likely adolescent were to have mental and behavioral problems. A significant dose-response relationship between them was more clearly observed in girls than in boys. The experience of parentrelated negative events during childhood was significantly associated with suicidal ideation and delinquent behaviors for boys, and with depressive feelings for girls during adolescence. Indeed, parental social support, social capital, and having a close friend with delinquent behaviors, especially for girls, partially mediated the relationship between parent-related negative life events and both outcomes. Conclusions : The study showed a clear dose-response relationship of frequency of parent-related negative life events with poor mental and behavioral health for both genders. The residual effect of being exposed to parent-related events during childhood on mental health and delinquent behaviors during adolescence still remained.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to describe the type of claimed adverse events related to Korean Medicine practices in South Korea. Methods : Claims with regard to the Korean Medicine practice submitted to the Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency from April 2012 to December 2016 were collected. We analyzed claims that explicitly reported the type of Korean medicine intervention and were deemed as being adverse events as defined by the Korea Good Clinical Practice. Claims that did not mention the Korean medicine practice explicitly or those related to the patient's dissatisfaction to the service rather than adverse health outcomes were excluded. Types, related interventions and the suspected severity of claimed adverse events were summarized. Results : Of 197 claims obtained, 140 claim cases were eligible and 144 claimed events were deemed as possible adverse events of the Korean medicine practice. Pain(16%), local infection/inflammation(12%) and neurological symptoms(11%) were the most frequently reported types of claimed adverse events. Thirty-nine claimed serious adverse events(SAE) were identified, including pneumothorax(28.2%) and death(17.9%). Conclusions : A wide range of claimed adverse events were identified. Routine monitoring of claims data may provide undetected safety information with regard to the Korean medicine practice. High risk of misclassification of the intervention and claimed adverse events due to insufficient information is the main caveat of this study.
Clopidogrel is used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with atherosclerosis documented by recent ischemic stroke, recent myocardial infarction (MI), or established peripheral arterial disease (secondary prevention). Clopidogrel is metabolized by CYP3A4, and the active metabolites inhibit platelet aggregation. The purpose of this study was to assess clopidogrel only versus clopidogrel + others (aspirin, CYP3A4 inhibitor, and CYPBA4 inducer) in terms of cardiovasculalr events and bleeding complications. We reviewed the charts of patients who visited between August 1, 2002 and August 31, 2003, retrospectively. Total 72 patients were included and they consisted of 5 groups; clopidogrel group (n=36), clopidogrel + aspirin group (n=11), clopidogrel + CYP3A4 inhibitor group (n=15), clopidogrel + aspirin + CYP3A4 inhibitor group (n=6), clopidorel + CYP3A4 inducer group (n=4). The primary endpoints at 6 months, 12 months were the composite of cardiovascular (CV) events. The secondary end-point was the incidence of bleeding events at 6months, and 12months. At 12months, the primary endpoint was not significantly different among the five groups (p=0.056). In comparison of two groups as clopidogrel only versus clopidogrel + others (aspirin, CYP3A4 inhibitor and CYP3A4 inducer), the primary endpoint was significantly different (p=0.02). The CV events were increased in the clopidogrel + others group. The secondary end point was not significantly different among the five groups (p=0.52). However, time to bleeding events was 230.8 in the clopidogrel group and 74.7 in the clopidogrel + others group (p = 0.046). In conclusion, clopidogrel interaction with aspirin, CYP3A4 inhibitor, and CYP3A4 inducer affected cardiovascular events and bleeding events. Drug interaction of clopidogrel with concurrent medications should be considered cautiously.
International sports events are no longer simple sports events. They are kinds of political and diplomatic events which are focused on international interests and they have to be held successfully to achieve their goal. Recently their economic effects have become one of the most important purposes. Almost all countries are doing there best to host international sports events for the purpose of advertising their own countries. But if there are terrorists who are to attack international sports events, the purpose of international sports events to improve friendship between nations and the peace of all mankinds will be seriously damaged. Also host country will be seriously damaged politically, diplomatically and economically. This article examines rapidly increasing international terrorism after 9.11 and analyzes the recent world terrorism situations and furthermore proposes legal and systemic countermeasures of our country to concentrate nation's abilities to prevent these kinds of sports terrorism.
Thanks to high cadence monitoring and high photometric accuracy of Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet), we expect the detection of many events caused by wide-separation planets and free-floating planets, which is not easy due to the short event duration. Thus, it is important to understand wide-separation planetary lensing events. Several studies on the wide-separation events have been reported, but events caused by wide-separation planetary systems with a moon have not yet been studied. In this paper, we study the properties of events caused by planetary systems where wide-separation planets host a moon. We also study the effect of a finite background source star on the moon feature in the wide planetary-lensing events.
This study investigated children's cognition of physically impossible televised events by age and types of tasks. The 67 subjects were 3-, 5-, and 7-year-old children from 1 day care center and 1 elementary school in Seoul. Children's responses were taped and transcribed. Cognition about the events were measured by recognition of impossibility, possibility of replication, and reasons for the possibility of replication of the events. Data were analysed by ANOVA(repeated measure) and $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test. Children's cognitions about the events varied by age groups. Three-year-old children's recognition of the 3 tasks was different from that of the 5-and 7-year-old children; while 3-year-olds interpreted the events on TV as real, 5- and 7-year-olds considered them to be unreal.
