Non-Negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) is a method for updating dictionary and gain in alternating manner. Due to ease of implementation and intuitive interpretation, NMF is widely used to detect and separate overlapping sound events. However, NMF that utilizes non-negativity constraints generates parts-based representation and this distinct property leads to a dictionary containing fragmented acoustic events. As a result, the presence of shared basis results in performance degradation in both separation and detection tasks of overlapping sound events. In this paper, we propose a new method that utilizes K-Singular Value Decomposition (K-SVD) based dictionary to address and mitigate the part-based representation issue during the dictionary learning step. Subsequently, we calculate the gain using NMF in sound event detection step. We evaluate and confirm that overlapping sound event detection performance of the proposed method is better than the conventional method that utilizes NMF based dictionary.
When an event of target variable is rare, a widespread strategy is to build a model on the sample that disproportionally over-represents the events, that is over-sampled. Using the data over-sampled from the original data set, the predicted values would be biased; however, it can be easily corrected to represent the population. In this study, we investigate into the relationship between the proportion of rare event on a data-mart and the model performance using real world data of a Korean credit card company. Also, we use the methods for adjusting of posterior probability for over-sampled data of the offset method and the weighted method. Finally, we compare the performance of the methods using real data sets.

This paper describes parallel event-driven remote IT convergence applications which are a combination of traditional industry and IT Technology including advanced communication. In IT convergence system, events can occur currently from many sensors of devices or users. And IT convergence system must have a parallel processing method. In this paper, the parallel processing method was implemented using a thread and we developed a connection method between a device and a mode of communication which is a wireless communication or a power line communication. In addition to that, we developed object modeling, device, user and event modeling, based on XML (eXtensible Markup Language) using object-oriented modeling method. To efficiently show results in real time, systems provide various graphic user interfaces such as a bar graph, a table, and a combination of the two.

Energy conservation is a vital issue in wireless sensor networks. Recently, employing mobile sinks for data gathering become a pervasive trend to deal with this problem. The sink can follow stochastic or pre-defined paths; however the controlled mobility pattern nowadays is taken more into consideration. In this method, the sink moves across the network autonomously and changes its position based on the energy factors. Although the sink mobility would reduce nodes' energy consumption and enhance the network lifetime, the overhead caused by topological changes could waste unnecessary power through the sensor field. In this paper, we proposed EEDARS, an energy-efficient dual-sink algorithm with role switching mechanism which utilizes both static and mobile sinks. The static sink is engaged to avoid any periodic flooding for sink localization, while the mobile sink adaptively moves towards the event region for data collection. Furthermore, a role switching mechanism is applied to the protocol in order to send the nearest sink to the recent event area, hence shorten the path. This algorithm could be employed in event-driven and multi-hop scenarios. Analytical model and extensive simulation results for EEDARS demonstrate a significant improvement on the network metrics especially the lifetime, the load and the end-to-end delay.

Necessity of the tole-operation has been increased in many fields. Since the Internet is inexpensive and available all over the world, it is a strong candidate for the transmission media of the tole-operation. However, the Internet has random time delays that may cause instability in the system especially if the tole -operation is bilateral. In the past few years many attempts have been made to overcome the random time delay, So far, they are still insufficient in terms of performance. The ‘Variable holding time’ is introduced to improve the performance of the ‘Event based tole-operation’ which controls a system with a non-time action reference. By holding each event for proper time, the system can quickly respond and be stabilized. The proper holding time should be selected based on the characteristics of the task that the system performs. The factors that reflect those characteristics are investigated. The fuzzy logic is employed to obtain the proper holding time for each event while the tole-operation system is in operation. The experimental results presented in this paper verify effectiveness of the proposed method.

The duration time of aircraft noise event is also an important factor for the evaluation of civil aircraft noise, which is considered as a notable characteristic of military aircraft noise. SEL is proved as a suitable noise metric for the measuring military aircraft noise of various flight pattern considering the duration time of noise event. This study reviews whether SEL is a suitable for measuring civil aircraft noise and study shows SEL is fairly compensating the duration time of civil aircraft noise event for the evaluation of aircraft noise. Noise metric for the evaluation aircraft noise based on SEL is more appropriate than based on $L_{MAX}$ for compensating duration time of noise event either military aircraft or civil aircraft. In this reason, current formula of WECPNL based on energy average of measured $L_{MAX}$ for the evaluation of aircraft noise impact in 'Test Method of Noise and Vibration of Korea' is recommended to be amended to formula of WECPNL based on energy average of measured SEL considering compensation of noise event duration time, if WECPNL is not based on measured EPNL, a metric compensating duration time.

Many systems rely on reliable timestamps to determine the time of a particular action or event. This is especially true in digital investigations where investigators are attempting to determine when a suspect actually committed an action. The challenge, however, is that objects are not updated at the exact moment that an event occurs, but within some time-span after the actual event. In this work we define a simple model of digital systems with objects that have associated timestamps. The model is used to predict object update patterns for objects with associated timestamps, and make predictions about these update time-spans. Through empirical studies of digital systems, we show that timestamp update patterns are not instantaneous. We then provide a method for calculating the distribution of timestamp updates on a particular system to determine more accurate action instance times.
This study is to test the influence of stock option granting information on the firm's performance. The important issue in stock option is that agent cost is the important determinant factor for the long term performance. The agent cost arises between the manager and shareholders. So many study are concentrated in diminishing the agent cost, and develop some substitute tools to measure the agent cost. The event study about stock option analyzes returns around event date at a time. Event study provides estimation periods and cumulative returns. Announcements about stock option are generally associated with positive abnormal returns in short term period, but not showing positive effect in long term period. It is important to investigate the responses of stocks to new information contained in the announcements of stock option. Therefore it is important to study the long term performance in the case of stock option. The event time portfolio approach exists the CAR model, BHAR model and WR model. And the calendar time portfolio approach has the 3 factor model, 4 factor model, CTAR model, and RATS model. This study is forced to develop and arrange two approach method in evaluating the performance, the event time portfolio approach and calendar time portfolio approach.
One fundamental element of probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) is the initiating event (IE) analysis. Since IE frequencies can change over time, time-trend analysis is required to obtain optimized IE frequencies. Accordingly, such time-trend analyses have been employed to estimate industry-average IE frequencies for use in the PSAs of U.S. nuclear power plants (NPPs); existing PSAs of Korean NPPs, however, neglect such analysis in the estimation of IE frequencies. This article therefore provides the method for and results of estimating Korean industry-average IE frequencies using time-trend analysis. It also examines the effects of the IE frequencies obtained from this study on risk insights by applying them to recently updated internal events Level 1 PSA models (at-power and shutdown) for an OPR-1000 plant. As a result, at-power core damage frequency decreased while shutdown core damage frequency increased, with the related contributions from each IE category changing accordingly. These results imply that the incorporation of time-trend analysis leads to different IE frequencies and resulting risk insights. The IE frequency distributions presented in this study can be used in future PSA updates for Korean NPPs, and should be further updated themselves by adding more recent data.
In 2020, the unexpected pandemic scenario has led to a downfall of live concerts performances, after the government restriction for events and gatherings with a large number of people. The Korean-Pop (K-Pop) group BTS (Bangtan sonyeondan) also had their concert tour canceled in 2020. Therefore, the group came up with an innovative project to the music market, called "BangBangCon: The Live", a live streaming paid concert held by the group, on June 14th, which achieved a Guinness World Record for most viewers during a paid music concert, in a live streaming format. It's important, then, to study this event, and initiate a debate about alternative ideas for marketing strategies with live streaming music performances. The method to accomplish this research was desk research, analysing all the communication delivered from BTS, studying the website and platform where the event "BangBangCon: The Live'' was held, and researching about the results the event has achieved. The results were the description of the event as a project, informing how many people have attended the event, and what were the marketing strategies that made it possible to become the highest audience to a paid live streaming concert, until the moment this article was published.
