In OLED vacuum evaporation process, the essential requirements include good uniformity of the film thickness over a glass substrate. And, it is commercially significant to improve the consuming efficiency of material of the evaporant which is deposited on the substrate because of high price of organic materials. In this paper, to achieve the better thickness uniformity and the better organic material consuming rate, a process optimization algorithm was developed by understanding vacuum evaporation process parameters that affect the material consuming efficiency and the uniformity of film thickness. Based on the method developed in this study, the vacuum evaporation process of OLED was successfully controlled. The developed method allowed the manufacture of high quality OLED displays with cheaper fabrication cost.
The effect of capillary cross-section geometry on evaporation is investigated in terms of the meniscus shape, evaporation rate and evaporation-induced flow for circular, square and rectangular cross-sectional capillaries. The shapes of water and ethanol menisci are not much different from each other in square and rectangular capillaries even though the surface tension of water is much larger than that of ethanol. On the other hand, the shapes of water and ethanol menisci are very different from each other in circular capillary. The averaged evaporation fluxes in circular and rectangular capillaries are measured by tracking the meniscus position. At a given position, the averaged evaporation flux in rectangular capillaries is much larger than that in circular capillary with comparable hydraulic diameter. The flow near the evaporating meniscus is also measured using micro-PIV, so that the rotating vortex motion is observed near the evaporating ethanol and methanol menisci except for the case of methanol meniscus in rectangular capillary. This difference is considered to be due to the existence of corner menisci at the four comers.
Resistive heating sources are widely used to prepare thin films by vapor deposition because they are cheap, and easy to install and handle in vacuum system. Graphite is one of materials used to make the resistive heating source, but until now only limited applications have been possible as it reacts easily with evaporating materials at high temperature. In this study, evaporation characteristics of aluminum have been investigated by using graphite boat thermally treated with BN powder. The employed graphite boat has been prepared by spray-coating BN power onto the cavity surface of the boat and thermal treatment with aluminum in vacuum at the temperature of more than $1400^{\circ}C$. The voltage-current characteristics as well as resistivity changes of the graphite boat have been investigated during aluminum evaporation according to the applied voltage and time. The evaporation aspect has been picturized during flash evaporation for 40 seconds based on the characterization results. The evaporation rate of the graphite boat has been compared with that of BN boat. The graphite boat showed some different characteristics compared with BN boat, in that the evaporation occurred at the last stage of flash evaporation. The film appearance according to the applied voltage has been compared, and also the reflectance of the resulting film has been investigated according to the film thickness. It has been found that the graphite boat thermally treated with BN powder can be used for aluminum evaporation without problem.
To increase the solubility of fentiazac which is used widely as a non-steroidal antiinflammatory drug, its inclusion complex and suppositories were prepared and studied. Inclusion complexes of fentiazac with ${\beta}-cyclodertin$$({\beta}-CyD)$ were prepared by four diffrent methods; coprecipitation method, kneading method, solvent evaporation method, freeze drying method. Suppositories of $fentiazac/{\beta}-CyD$ with PEG 1500 and Witepsol H-15 were prepared by solvent evaporation method and freeze drying method. Inclusion complex formation of fentiazac with ${\beta}-CyD$ was ascertained by powder X-ray diffractometry, differential scanning calorimetry and IR spectroscopy. The dissolution rate of fentiazac from the inclusion complex increased in distilled water and KP 2nd disintegration test fluids (pH 6.8) but extemly decreased in KP 1st disintegration test fluid (pH 1.2). Inclusion complexes prepared by freeze drying method and solvent evaporation method were similar. Freeze drying method seemed to be suitable for preparation of complex with most higher dissolution rate but coprecipitation method seemed not to be suitable. The dissolution rate of fentiazac increased markedly by ${\beta}-CyD$ complexation. The release rates of suppositories increased in the following order. Complex prepared by freeze dying method in PEG 1500 > complex prepared by solvent evaporation method in PEG 1500 > fentiazac in PEG 1500 > complex prepared by freeze dying method in Witepsol H-15 > complex prepared by solvent evaporation method in Witepsol H-15 > fentiazac in Witepsol H-15.
an isolated droplet combustion exposed to pressure perturbations in stagnant gaseous environment is numerically conducted. Governing equations are solved for flow parameters at gas and liquid phases separately and thermodynamic parameters at the interfacial boundary are matched for problem closure. For high-pressure effects, vapor-liquid interfacial thermodynamics is rigorously treated. A series of parametric calculations in terms of mean pressure level and wave frequencies are carried out employing a n-pentane droplet in stagnant gaseous air. Results show that the operating pressure and driving frequency have an important role in determining the amplitude and phase lag of a combustion response. Mass evaporation rate responding to pressure waves is amplified with increase in pressure due to substantial reduction in latent heat of vaporization. Phase difference between pressure and evaporation rate decreases due to the reduced thermal inertia at high pressure. In addition to this, augmentation of perturbation frequency also enhances amplification of vaporization rate because the time period for the pressure oscillation is much smaller than the liquid thermal inertia time. The phase of evaporation rate shifts backward due to the elevated thermal inertia at high acoustic frequency.
Characteristics of flow rate control has been studied for a cavitating venturi adopted in a liquid rocket propellant feed system. Numerical simulation has been peformed to give about $10\%$ discrepancy of mass flow rate to the experimental data for cavitating flow regime. Mass flow rate is confirmed to be saturated for pressure difference higher than $3\times10^5$pa when the upstream pressure is fixed to $22.8\times10^5$pa and the downstream pressure is varied. The evaporation amount depends substantially to non-condensable gas concentration. However the mass flow rate characteristic is relatively insensitive to the mass fraction of non-condensable gas. So it is reduced by only $2\%$ when the non- condensable gas concentration is increased from 1.5PPM to 150PPM. From the previous comparison the expansions of the non-condensable gas and the evaporation of liquid are verified to have same effect to pressure recovery.
As important factors determining human sensorial comfort, liquid moisture management and surface properties of heat resistant workwear materials were examined. To figure out liquid moisture management properties of the test materials, absorption capacity, rate of absorption, and evaporation properties were assessed. A modified GATS(Gravimetric Absorbency Testing System) was used to measure the liquid moisture accumulation associated with the wicking of liquid moisture from sweating skin. The GATS procedure measures demand wettability of materials to take up liquid in a direction perpendicular to the fabric surface and it was modified to incorporate a special test cell and cover to assess absorption behavior in the presence of evaporation. Fabric stiffness, smoothness, number and the length of surface fibers, and an estimate of the contact area between the skin and fabric surface were measured to characterize the mechanical and surface properties of the test materials. Also an estimate of the force with which a fabric clings to moist skin was made using as wet-cling index.
In this study, develop the thermal pump using water evaporation and condensation. Vapor from heating room moves up to pumping room and press the water of pumping room. Consequently water is pumped out to water tank. Then hot vapor direct contact with cold water in condensing room after pumping process. At this time, pressure of condensing room is down to-5kPa and suck in water of tank. This pump executes self ping and good durability because of no mechanical moving parts. Thermal pump is pumped cyclic so that, this pump is not used single. Therefore thermal pump of hot water boiler used to multi-stage for stable pumping rate. As the result of performance test, the developed thermal pump proves pumping action of water evaporation/condensation. And total volume flow rate is 500liter during one hour. If three thermal pump is installed parallel, this pump can use to the hot water boiler in the 300,000kcal/h class.
