This study is for increasing evacuation safety by analyzing RSET(the required safe escape time) through the arrangement of personnel by floor and by room while evacuating in a Girls' High School Dormitory. For this study, PAPS(Physical Activity Promotion System) results that have not been studied so far were analyzed and reflected in evacuation simulations on the premise that individual student's physical strength can affect evacuation. Based on the PAPS results, four scenarios were applied. In addition, evacuation simulation using the pathfinder program was conducted in two situations: the evacuation route was assigned or not. Scenario 4 was the fastest at 168.5 seconds of RSET in assigning evacuation routes among scenarios. As a result of this study, the arrangement of students focusing on improving their academic ability and student life guidance excluding student physical strength has problem. In order to solve this problem, it is effective to place C group students(low grade on PAPS) on low floors and A group students(high grade on PAPS) on high floors and to assign evacuation routes in each room. In the future, the following ways need to be more studied. A study on how to increase evacuation safety through practical evacuation training, the way of assessing evacuation safety reflecting the lifestyle and physical strength of girls, the evacuation route assignment according to the fire occurrence point, and the method to secure evacuation routes in the event of a fire near stairs or entrances should be conducted.

Traditional town with wooden houses like Japanese historic local town is vulnerable to disaster. Wooden houses crowed in this study area, there is no gap between buildings and buildings. When disaster occurs, they can not use evacuation routes based on the value of probability of rubble flow. Disaster prevention design of traditional town using spatial information for residents is a modern idea in the field of disaster prevention study. Therefore, it is basically important and effective to create information, especially on the current situation such as dangerousness of the area. Here, we report on a disaster prevention design regarding probability of street blockade and probability of rubble flow at a large earthquake directly under our study area. In this study, we explain about necessity of temporary evacuation areas like open space. As a result, we found some ideas to secure evacuation routes from traditional houses to designated refuge places using temporary evacuation areas.

After a disaster happens in urban areas, many people need support for a quick evacuation. This work aims to develop a method for the calculation of the most feasible evacuation route inside buildings. In the methodology we simplify the geometry of the structural and non structural elements from the BIM (Building Information Modeling) to store them in a spatial database which follows standards to support vector data. Then, we apply the multicriteria analysis with the allocation of prioritization values and weight factors validated through the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process), in order to obtain the Importance Index S(n) of the elements. The criteria consider security conditions and distribution of the building's facilities. The S(n) is included as additional heuristic data for the calculation of the evacuation route through an algorithm developed as a variant of the $A^*$ pathfinding, The experimental results in the simulation of evacuation scenarios for vulnerable people in healthy physical conditions and for the elderly group, shown that the conditions about the wide of routes, restricted areas, vulnerable elements, floor roughness and location of facilities in the building applied in the multicriteria analysis has a high influence on the processing of the developed variant of $A^*$ algorithm. The criteria modify the evacuation route, because they considers as the most feasible route, the safest instead of the shortest, for the simulation of evacuation scenarios for people in healthy physical conditions. Likewise, they consider the route with the location of facilities for the movement of the elderly like the most feasible in the simulation of evacuation route for the transit of the elderly group. These results are important for the assessment of the decision makers to select between the shortest or safest route like the feasible for search and rescue activities.
Under the Korean Enforcement Decree of the Building Act, all high story apartment houses more than 5 stories high are mandated to install a fire evacuation system to ensure safe evacuation from fire accidents and providing quick and easy bidirectional escape route when main entrance is blocked by flame or toxic smoke. However, the current fire evacuation system shows a lack of understanding from residents and thus is widely ignored for having insufficient safety functions, especially vis-à-vis fire emergencies. Studies have found that an alternative evacuation method, the escapable fire evacuation system, has been analyzed for safety evaluation compared with the conventional passive fire escape system and can bring efficient and safer solutions, providing high rise residents escape from fire accidents. Evaluation for safety evacuation has been performed by the Fire Dynamics Simulation and applying Pathfinder simulation. This resulted in providing appropriate escape routes within the safety escape time and allowed for people in high rise building fires to get to safety.
Recently, there have been frequent occurrence of the damage to lives and properties due to the torrential rain caused by climate change. In consideration of the current situations in which the underlying data related to flooding are lacking, this study conducted to build up the basic data on the flooded areas and suggested methods to secure the evacuation routes that can be accessible to evacuation facilities in the residential buildings. Methods of the study are as follows. First, We calculated the flood risk grades of residential buildings based on elevations, considering the flooding characteristics of the flooded areas in Buk-gu, Daegu. Second, We constructed baseline data on the evacuation routes through site investigation and reviewed of drawing using Arc GIS to identify vulnerability to access to the evacuation facilities, targeting the residential buildings. Third, We carried out the proximity analysis through a near analysis of analysis functions in ARC GIS. Forth, We deduced 115 residential buildings in which access to evacuation facilities is considered to be difficult based on the analysis results. Finally, We proposed extension of a blind alley as a means for achieving connectivity to evacuation facilities. And to evaluate the alternatives presented, we reconstructed route data. As a result, about 53% improvement was identified through the proximity analysis.

The safe evacuation of people during disasters is of utmost importance. Various life safety evacuation simulation tools have been developed and implemented, with most relying on algorithms that analyze maps to extract the shortest path and guide agents along predetermined routes. While effective in predicting evacuation routes in stable disaster conditions and short timeframes, this approach falls short in dynamic situations where disaster scenarios constantly change. Existing algorithms struggle to respond to such scenarios, prompting the need for a more adaptive evacuation route algorithm that can respond to changing disasters. Artificial intelligence technology based on reinforcement learning holds the potential to develop such an algorithm. As a fundamental step in algorithm development, this study aims to evaluate whether an evacuation algorithm developed by reinforcement learning satisfies the performance conditions of the evacuation simulation tool required by IMO MSC.1/Circ1533.

In the case of medical facilities, the evacuation time is delayed due to the decrease in the number of people in the hallway and exits due to the increase in the width of evacuation by using mobile beds, wheelchairs, crutches, etc. Accordingly, it is considered to secure evacuation capacity to reduce evacuation time according to corridor width and exit width. Accordingly, we would like to compare the standards related to the evacuation capacity of medical facilities in Korea and NFPA, derive differences, and use evacuation simulations to compare evacuation times according to changes in corridor width and exit width. In Korea, it is calculated based on the floor area by use, but in the case of NFPA 101, the number of evacuation routes, stair width, corridor exit width, and two-way door width was stipulated depending on the number of people. Using evacuation simulation, efficient evacuation capacity is calculated according to the reduction of evacuation time by changing the width of the hallway, changing the width of the exit, the width of the corridor, and the width of the exit. The evacuation simulation is intended to be used to secure evacuation safety of domestic medical facilities by calculating the effective evacuation time reduction by changing the width of the hallway and exit.

Under the conditions of invested actual changes of heeling angles during MV Sewol's sinking, this study proposes passengers' evacuation scenarios, which are based on the assumption of normal orders of evacuation being given to the passengers, and evaluates using a marine-specialized human evacuation simulation tool. As results, when the heeling angle is set as 0 degree or 30 degree, it is found out that almost every passengers can success to evacuate to the musterstations, even though the evacuation times are different depending on the scenarios and the walking speeds. Meanwhile, when the heeling angle is varied as the Sewol incident, 3.1 %(Scenario Sc-Va which set chutes on port side as evacuation routes), 11.1 %(Sc-Vb, every open decks of port side as evacuation routes) and 20.0 %(Sc-Vc, every open decks of port and AFT sides as evacuation routes) among 476 passengers can successfully reach to the musterstations from their cabins with the condition of average walking speed as 2.04 m/s on flat. And only 0.8 %(Sc-Va), 3.8 %(Sc-Vb) and 10.7 %(Sc-Vc) can success to evacuate with the condition of average walking speed as 1.48 m/s on flat.

In the era of the fourth industrial revolution, safety of disasters is being emphasized above all else, and electric fires are most frequent during disasters, and human and property damage is very serious. In this paper, we propose a study that can determine the efficiency of evacuation and non-evacuation guidance due to the large difference in casualties depending on the traffic line in the case of fire. Evacuation guidance was assumed to be a situation in which adequate evacuation routes were guided by a recorded voice or a trained staff, and non-evacuation guidance was assumed to be a situation without anything. Evacuation simulations were carried out using a evacuation simulation tool called PATHFINDER and SIMULEX for the analysis of the efficiency of evacuation and non-evacuation guidance. As a result, the evacuation time was similar, but in the case of non-evacuation guidance, it was not guided to the safe zone, which could cause serious damage.

The purpose of this study was to present an analysis model for finding the correlation between visibility and evacuation time as users move in the outpatient department of the general hospital. The spatial scope of the study was limited to the first floor and second floor which are used for the outpatient department. Traffic density in outpatient departments was surveyed on site. Based on the surveyed traffic density, the evacuation simulation model was established for calculating the escape route and evacuation time for an individual user. The traffic density of the outpatient department as per the evacuation time was also calculated. With using evacuation simulations, the flow of evacuees was calculated through the density of traffic over the time of evacuation. Visibility data were set in the simulation model for users' escape routes. A correlation analysis between the product of evacuation flow measure and visibility measure of the evacuation population and evacuation time was performed. The analysis result showed negative correlation within a specific distance range. This study presented an analysis model showing that the evacuation condition considering spatial visibility in the outpatient department of general hospital visibility was negatively related to the analyzed evacuation time at the design stage.
