  • It often happens some elements are so largely distorted during a large-deformation finite element analysis that further calculation becomes impossible or the approximation error increases rapidly. This problem can be overcomed only by remeshing at several suitable stages. The present study aimed to establish the criterion based on the error estimators, and examined in the simulation and posterior error analysis of ring compression test to demonstrate the usefulness of them. The distribution of each error estimator and its variation during deformation were investigated. All the error estimators were increased monotonously with deformation and decreased rapidly at remeshing stage. It was shown that the error estimators suggested in this study are good measures as remeshing criterion for large deformation finite element analyses.

  • This paper derives the symbol error probability for quadrature amplitude modulation(QAM) with L-fold space diversity in Rayleigh fading channels. Two combining techniques, maximal ratio combining(MRC) and selection combining(SC), are considered. The formula for MRC space diversity is obtained by averaging the symbol error probability of M-ary QAM in an additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN) channel over a chi-square distribution with 2L degrees of freedom. The obtained formula overcomes the limitations of the earlier work, which has been limited only to deriving the symbol error rate(SER) of QAM with two branch MRC space diversity. The formula for SC space diversity is obtained by averaging the symbol error probability of M-ary QAM in an AWGN channel over the distribution of the maximum signal-to noise ratio among all of the diversity channels for SC space diversity has been reported yet. Analytical results show that the probability of error decreases with the order of diversity gain per additional branch decreases as the number of branches becomes larger. On the other hand, the performance of 16 QAM with MRC becomes much better than that of SC as the number of branches becomes larger. By giving the order of diversity, L, and the number of signal points, M, we have been able to obtain the SER performance of QAM with general space diversity. These results can be used to determine the order of diversity to achieve the desired SER in land mobile communication system employing QAM modulation.

  • The distribution of seabed rock in the coastal area is relevant to navigation safety and development of ocean resources where it is an essential hydrographic measurement. Currently, the distribution of seabed rock relies on interpretations of water depth data or point based bottom materials survey methods, which have low efficiency. This study uses the airborne bathymetric Lidar data and the hyperspectral image to detect seabed rock in the coastal area of the East Sea. Airborne bathymetric Lidar data detected seabed rocks with texture information that provided 88% accuracy and 24% commission error. Using the airborne hyperspectral image, a classification result of rock and sand gave 79% accuracy, 11% commission error and 7% omission error. The texture data and hyperspectral image were fused to overcome the limitations of individual data. The classification result using fused data showed an improved result with 96% accuracy, 6% commission error and 1% omission error.

  • In this paper, we derive a reference error probability performance in the environment where mobile satellite terminal is operated. When the satellite terminal moves, shadowing occurs due to the surrounding obstacles and the BER is lowered. We use the Lutz model simulating the environment in which mobile satellite terminals operate The Lutz model combines the Rician distribution with the Suzuki model. The error probability is derived from the numerical analysis of two distribution functions. The simulated results using the measured results in the Korean Peninsula forest area were similar to the BER results obtained using the Lutz model. Intuitively, the approximated results are similar to the measured results. Numerically, the BER error is about 3e-4 or less at an SNR of 30dB.

  • In this study, software products developed in the course of testing, software managers in the process of testing software test and test tools for effective learning effects perspective has been studied using the NHPP software. The Burr distribution applied to distribution was based on finite failure NHPP. Software error detection techniques known in advance, but influencing factors for considering the errors found automatically and learning factors, by prior experience, to find precisely the error factor setting up the testing manager are presented comparing the problem. As a result, the learning factor is greater than automatic error that is generally efficient model could be confirmed. This paper, a numerical example of applying using time between failures and parameter estimation using maximum likelihood estimation method, after the efficiency of the data through trend analysis model selection were efficient using the mean square error and $R^2$.

  • The error are equation of DC-CDMA/MDPSK signal has been derived in m-distribution and Rician fading channels. Predeteception multipath MRC(Maximal Ratio Combining) diversity technique is employed for improving the bit error rate performance. The suitability of modeling a Rician fading environment by properly chosen m-distribution model is examined. Using the derived equation the error performance has been evaluated and shown in figures as a function of PN code sequence length(N), user number(U), multipath number(P), fading index(m), Rician factor(K), number of diversity branches(L) and ($E_b/N_o$). The results show that the error performance in Rician fading agrees well with that in m-distribution fading as fading becomes weak and as user number(U) increases and as multipath number(P) increases and diversity number(L) increases.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive algorithm for the quantization step size control of MPEG-2, using the information obtained from the previously encoded picture. Before quantizing the DCT coefficients, the properties of reconstruction error of each macro block (MB) is predicted from the previous frame. For the prediction of the error of current MB, a block with the size of MB in the previous frame are chosen by use of the motion vector. Since the original and reconstructed images of the previous frame are available in the encoder, we can calculate the reconstruction error of this block. This error is considered as the expected error of the current MB if it is quantized with the same step size and bit rate. Comparing the error of the MB with the average of overall MBs, if it is larger than the average, small step size is given for this MB, and vice versa. As a result, the error distribution of the MB is more concentrated to the average, giving low variance and improved image quality. Especially for the low bit application, the proposed algorithm gives much smaller error variance and higher PSNR compared to TM5 (test model 5).
