Derivation of Empirical Method to Enhance the Accuracy of Cannon Tube Erosion Rate (포신 마모 예측의 정확도 향상을 위한 실험적 방법 유도)

  • We predict the erosion rate of unknown cannon tubes by substituting measured values of the standard cannon, 155㎜ Howitzer M185 and ballistic data for the erosion equation. We know ten measured erosion values of the standard cannon at every 400 rounds. An approximate formula is derived to interpolate six values up to 2,000 rounds. Numerical example is presented and its results are analyzed. The new erosion equation is also suggested. This equation produces more accurate cannon tube erosion rate than the Rauf Imam's empirical approaches. Computer simulations are presented.

A STUDY ON THE DENTAL EROSION BY ACID AMONG WORKERS EXPOSED TO ACID (일부 산(Acid)에 폭로된 근로자의 치아산식증에 관한 조사연구)

  • In order to investigate the oral health status including dental erosion, the authors had surveyed and oral examined 510 male workers, among whom 199 workers were exposed to acids and 311 were not exposed to acids, in a factory using acids during the period from November, 26 to 27 in 1992. The obtained results were as follows ; 1. The positive rate of dental erosion between the acid exposed and non-exposed group didn't show statistical difference. But the positive rate of degree 1 dental erosion by degree was statistically high in the acid exposed group(P<0.05). 2. The acid exposed group showed the higher positive rate of degree 1 dental erosion in lower incisors by site(P<0.01). 3. To the average number of eroded teeth, the acid exposed group showed more degree 1 eroded teeth in lower incisors than the non-exposed(P<0.05). 4. Although the rate of dental erosion was increased according to the increase in tenure in both exposed and non-exposed group(P<0.05), there was no difference in rate of the dental erosion by site among the same tenure group. 5. In the acid exposed group, the rate of dental erosion between protective mask wearer group and non-wearer group was not statistically different, but upper incisors of the protective mask wearer group showed lower rate of dental erosion by site(P<0.05). 6. The positive rate of periodontal diseases was higher in the acid exposed group(P<0.01).

Tube Erosion Rate of Water Wall in a Commercial Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustor (상용 순환 유동층 연소로 수관벽 전열관 마모속도)

  • The erosion rate of water wall tube has been measured and discussed in a commercial circulating fluidized bed combustor (200 ton steam/hr, $4.97{\times}9.90{\times}28.98m\;height$). Tube thickness was measured with ultrasonic method. Severe tube erosion rate was observed in the splash region on all waterwalls including wingwalls. The tube erosion rate increased after an initial decrease as height from the distributor increased. The difference of erosion rate among wing walls was found due to unbalanced distribution of gas and solid flow rates. The erosion rate of the wing wall increased as location of the wing wall became closer to the center of combustor crosssection.

A Erosion Aspect of SS400 by Cavity Collapse Fluctuation in Marine Sludge Oil (선박 슬러지유 환경에서의 캐비티 붕괴유동에 따른 SS400의 침식양상)

The purpose of this study is to examine erosion aspect on the SS400 specimen by cavitation and the effect of impact pressure generated from the demolition of the cavity of ultrasonic vibrator horn in the marine sludge oil environment. The erosion damage of specimen was investigated mainly on weight loss, weight loss rate and maximum erosion rate with variation of the vibration amplitude of $50{\mu}m, 24{\mu}m$ as well as the change of space between transducer horn and specimen. The experimental results showed that as the space between ultrasonic vibrator horn and specimen disk increased, the weight loss and weight loss rate decreased and the values were larger in SFO than in SLO. These findings would help interpret the aspect of cavitation erosion damage in metallic materials of different operating environment and material characteristics.

A Study on Erosion Properties of Hot Pressed Sialon Ceramics (열간가압소결법으로 제조된 Sialon세라믹스의 Erosion특성에 관한 연구)

  • Three kinds of the sialon ceramics with and without TiN additions were prepared by hot pressing to investigate the effect of microstructure on erosion behaviors. Hardness and fracture toughness were measured with prepared specimens to study the effect of additives on the mechanical properties. A gas blast type erosion tester was employed to examine erosion behavior of the specimens up to $600^{\circ}C$. Erosion tests showed an increase of erosion rate up to 40$0^{\circ}C$ and a gradual decrease of erosion rate up to 50$0^{\circ}C$ for all kinds of sialon. The results also showed that erosion rates of the sialons were controlled better by microstructural factors than by mechanical properties including fracture toughness and hardness.

  • An experimental method to investigate the fracture strength and fracture toughness for the silicon nitrides sintered at various sintering temperature is established. The erosion rate for these materials in the various concentration of NaOH solution is also investigated. In result, the fracture strength of Si3N4 is decreased with the increase of sintering temperature. On the other hand, the fracture toughness KIC is increased with the increase of sintering temperature. The erosion rate of silicon nitride in the NaOH solution depend largely on the grain size and the concentration of NaOH solution. The erosion rate of silicon nitride sintered at $1800^{\circ}C$ was much higher than that at $1950^{\circ}C$. These results are due to the unique columnar structure of silicon nitride.

  • Si$_3$N$_4$-6wt%Y$_2$O$_3$-lwt%Al$_2$O$_3$was prepared by hot pressed and gas pressure sintering to investigate the effect of microstructure on erosion behaviors. Hardness and fracture toughness were measured with prepared specimens to study the high temperature erosion properties. A gas blast type erosion tester was used In examine erosion behavior of the specimens up to 700$^{\circ}C$. In case of GPS silicon nitride, the erosion rate increases up to 500$^{\circ}C$ and decreases over 500$^{\circ}C$. Maximum erosion rate was observed at 300$^{\circ}C$ for HP silicon nitride. The principal factors affecting the high temperature erosive wear of brittle materials are largely dependent on high temperature properties of grain boundaries.

  • Recently, the researches on the prevention of marine oil pollution being strengthened. Sludge oils were unavoidably produced in ship's operations, therefore it is necessary to manage the sludge oils inside the ship itself with the view to prevent marine oil pollution from ship. The present study deals with the ultrasonic breaking systems that recycle the sludge oil from ships into usable oil to be burnt. At the first instanceexperimental studies were carried out to investigate the homogenizing effect of the marine oils and the erosion aspect of horn disc by repeated vibration of ultrasonic transducer. The erosion damages for horn disc SS41 steel with weight loss rate and the irradiation time to max. erosion rate were examined according to the variation of the transducer amplitude, the oil temperature and the immersing depth of horn disc. As the result of it, the erosion aspects of horn disk were varied with oil environments and testing time.

  • In this paper, we showed the erosion characteristic of MgO protector layer releated to lifetime of plasma display panel(PDP). We observed MgO erosion characteristic as a functions of deposition conditions, pressure and distance between electrodes. In RIE condition of Xe gas, the lowest erosion rate appears in the conditions of no heating bias voltage -30V and pressure 5mtorr. In general, as deposition rate increases, erosion rate decreases. In real panel, when the gap distance between electrodes is narrow and the pressure is low, the heavy plasma damage appears. Also, the surfaces between electrodes and on the bus electrode are extremely damaged.
