This paper provides an innovative iteration technique for the large deflection problem of annular plate. After some manipulation, the problem is reduced to a couple of ODEs (ordinary differential equation). Among them, one is derived from the plane stress problem for plate, and other is derived from the bending of plate. Since the large deflection for plate is assumed in the problem, the relevant non-linear terms appear in the resulting ODEs. The pseudo-linearization procedure is suggested to solve the problem and the nonlinear ODEs can be solved in the way for the solution of linear ODE. To obtain the final solution, it is necessary to use the iteration. Several numerical examples are provided. In the study, the assumed value for non-dimensional loading is larger than those in the available references.
In this paper we deal with visual servoing that can control a robot arm with a camera using information of images only, without estimating 3D position and rotation of the robot arm. Here it is assumed that the robot arm is calibrated and the camera is uncalibrated. We use a pinhole camera model as the camera one. The essential notion can be show, that is, epipolar geometry, epipole, epipolar equation, and epipolar constrain. These play an important role in designing visual servoing. For easy understanding of the proposed method we first show a design in case of the calibrated camera. The design is constructed by 4 steps and the directional motion of the robot arm is fixed only to a constant direction. This means that an estimated epipole denotes the direction, to which the robot arm translates in 3D space, on the image plane.

In this paper, an S(stochastic)-eigenvalue and its corresponding S-eigenvector concept for linear continuous-time systems with probabilistic uncertainties are proposed. The proposed concept is concerned with the perturbation of eigenvalues due to the stochastic variable parameters in the dynamic model of a plant. An S-eigenstructure assignment scheme via the Sylvester equation approach based on the S-eigenvalue/-eigenvector concept is also proposed. The proposed control design scheme based on the proposed concept is applied to a longitudinal dynamics of an open-loop-unstable aircraft with possible uncertainties in aerodynamic and thrust effects as well as separate dynamic pressure effects. These results explicitly characterize how S-eigenvalues in the complex plane may impose stability on the system.

A new weight function approach to determine SIF(stress intensity factor) using single-layer potential has been presented. The crack surface displacement field was represented by one boundary integral term whose kernel was modified from Kelvin's fundamental solution. The proposed method enables the calculation of SIF using only one SIF solution without any modification for the crack geometries symmetric in two-dimensional plane such as a center crack in a plate with or without an internal hole, double edge cracks, circumferential crack or radial cracks in a pipe. The application procedure to those crack problems is very simple and straightforward with only one SIF solution. The necessary information in the analysis is two reference SIFs. The analysis results using present closed-form solution were in good agreement with those of the literature.
In this paper, we study analytic and geometric properties of the solution q(z) to the differential equation q(z) + zq'(z)/q(z) = h(z) with the initial condition q(0) = 1 for a given analytic function h(z) on the unit disk |z| < 1 in the complex plane with h(0) = 1. In particular, we investigate the possible largest constant c > 0 such that the condition |Im [zf"(z)/f'(z)]| < c on |z| < 1 implies starlikeness of an analytic function f(z) on |z| < 1 with f(0) = f'(0) - 1 = 0.
The stability of flows induced by a surface acoustic wave (SAW) propagating along the deformable walls in a confined parallel-plane microchannel or slab in the laminar flow regime is investigated. The governing equation which was derived by considering the nonlinear coupling between the deformable or waving interface and viscous fluids is linearized and then the problem is solved by a verified code based on the spectral method together with the associated interface and boundary conditions. The value of the critical Reynolds number was found to be near 1439 which is much smaller than the rigid-wall case: 5772 for conventional pressure-driven flows.
The receding contact problem for two elastic layers whose elastic constants and heights are different supported by two elastic quarter planes is considered. The lower layer is supported by two elastic quarter planes and the upper elastic layer is subjected to symmetrical distributed load whose heights are 2a on its top surface. It is assumed that the contact between all surfaces is frictionless and the effect of gravity force is neglected. The problem is formulated and solved by using Theory of Elasticity and Integral Transform Technique. The problem is reduced to a system of singular integral equations in which contact pressures are the unknown functions by using integral transform technique and boundary conditions of the problem. Stresses and displacements are expressed depending on the contact pressures using Fourier and Mellin formula technique. The singular integral equation is solved numerically by using Gauss-Jacobi integration formulation. Numerical results are obtained for various dimensionless quantities for the contact pressures and the contact areas are presented in graphics and tables.

The centrifugal force acting on a rotating disk creates the in-plane loads in radial and circumferential directions. Application of fiber reinforced composite materials to the rotating disk can satisfy the demand for the increment of its rotating speed. However, the existing researches have been confined to lamina disks. This paper deals with the stress and vibration analysis of rotating laminated composite disks. The maximum strain theory for failure criterion is applied to determine the strength of the laminate disk from which the maximum allowable speed is obtained. Dynamic equation is formulated in order to calculate the natural frequency and critical speed for rotating laminated disks. The Galerkin method is applied to obtain the series solution. The numerical results are given for the cross-ply laminated composite disks.
In this research, various heat source equations that have been proposed in previous study were calculated and compared with new model in various laser parameters. This is to treat the problem of predicting, by numerical analysis, the thermo-mechanical behaviors of laser spot welding for thin stainless steel plates. A finite element code, ABAQUS is used for the heat transfer analysis with a three-dimensional plane assumption. Experimental studies if the laser spot welding have also bee conducted to validate the numerical models presented. The results suggest that temperature profiles and weld dimensions are varied according to the heat source of the laser beam. For this reason, it is essential to incorporate an accurate description of the heat source.

The behavior of plane buoyant jet issuing vertically upwards into cross flow is analysed by experiments and integral scheme. The integral scheme is based on the self similarity and characteristic length scales to governing equations of continuity, momentum and constituent transport equation, in the horizontal and vertical flow region, respectively. Jet trajectories and the temperature distributions of jet centerlines obtained from experiments are analysed for various velocity ratios and densimetric Froude numbers. It was found that the analytical results about the trajectories and temperatures of jet center lines agree with the experiments and can be expressed as power laws.
