  • Recently, the requirement of healthier and more comfortable environment makes the zoning domain more details. However, it has limitation to satisfy the thermal comfort of an individual because of the effect of the heat generation from the OA machine and partitions in indoor room. In this paper, we certify the validity of task-ambient air-conditioning system that has been developed as a new concept of personal air-conditioning system, and specify design strategies for more efficient task-ambient air-conditioning system with a specification guided by indoor environmental characteristics analyzed through experiment data. In this experiment, we changed the temperature and the quantity of air-flow in task domain to understand characteristic behavior of the thermal environment and investigate the possibility of energy saving. The experiment result is that the environment of the task area depends on the condition of supply air, and though the airflow of the low temperature is supplied with the ambient area, the personal environment and the efficiency of energy saving are improved by controlling the temperature and the quantity of the air shot around the task domain.

  • The purpose of this study were to make clear the present condition of indoor thermal and air environment by air-conditioning in school classrooms and to analyze the relation of the living conditions with indoor environment. The measurements on physical elements and observations on living conditions were carried out in 6 classrooms of 3 middle or high schools. Measuring elements were indoor temperature, relative humidity, $PM_{10}$ and $CO_2$ concentration. As results, the averages of indoor temperature each classrooms were 24.9${\sim}$26.6 . Most of classrooms were lower than the Maintenance standard(26${\sim}$28 ) of School Health Law. The means of relative humidity were 51.3${\sim}$72%, all classrooms were ranged within the standard(30${\sim}$80%). The means of $PM_{10}$ concentration were 3.5${\sim}$23.1 ${\mu}g/m^3$, all classrooms were kept within the standard(100 ${\mu}g/m^3$). The means of $CO_2$ concentration were 1218.7${\sim}$4705.4 ppm, all classrooms were exceed the standard(1,000ppm). The results of analysis on relations of living conditions with the physical elements are as follow; the air conditioner set of temperature, windows and doors opening elapsed time, the number of students in classrooms and activities of students had certain effect on indoor environment.

  • Investigations of high frequency current transformer(HF-CT) waveform characteristics of the surface leakage on kaolin polluted EPDM polymer insulators have been performed. This work is part of a program aimed at examining the potential for HF-CT waveform characteristics analysis to provide information about the environment contaminants and environment condition of polymer insulators. The investigation reported examined the HF-CT waveform characteristics at high frequencies. The use of high frequency measurements for on-line applications reduces electrical inference. This work was peformed utilizing HF-CT to monitor of surface polluted discharge. It was found that HF-CT waveform frequency spectrum, magnitude depend on importantly the duration of the surface discharge activity.

  • All crude oil carries a little of water, sand, and mineral sediment molecules tightly bounded with hydrocarbons. The result is the gradual precipitation of these heavier elements into thick, granular petroleum by products known as crude oil sludge. The oily sludges in ship tanks and in storage facilities have to be treated efficiently in order to keep the security and the capacity of storage facilities, to protect a serious environmental pollution, and to retrieve lost resource. The oily sludge treatment system should be designed to satisfy requirements mentioned in safe work condition. As a basic study, in this paper, an oily sludge treatment system by ultrasonic waves was proposed. Then, the features of ultrasonic energy and recovery of sludge with ultrasonic waves are investigated by experiments. As results, we found that ultrasonic waves are a new energy to flow oil sludge environment-friendly in safe work condition. In addition, it was shown that ultrasonic energy is more efficient than thermal energy in treating oil sludge, and that the volume of wastes for disposal is reduced remarkably.

  • Indoor thermal environment and energy consumption of buildings are preferentially affected by the microclimate around buildings. It is the first method to improve energy conservation effect of buildings and the ways to utilize natural energy for the comfortable residential environment that the difference between the microclimate condition and the indoor thermal condition is made in minimum as far as possible. There are many factors to control and minimize the difference, but landscape element is the major one among the factors. In this respect, the report analyzes landscape elements and their function to control microclimate and presents basic data for the desirable landscape planning mehtods to improve energy conservation effect of buildings and to attain the comfortable residential environment.

  • Various types of restaurants in Seoul city are a were assessed in terms of facilities equipped, and dining and kitchen space allocation. Facilities checklist was developed to evaluate the facilities condition of sampled restaurants. Subjective sample were randomly selected based on the distribution factors of areas, types and sizes. The facilities for the sanitary working environment were assessed as the insufficient condition. Also basic kitchen equipments and facilities, and restroom facitilities of restaurants were within the kitchen or dining room space allowance level. Space requirement and facilities standard models were developed for the guideline to improve the working environment.

  • Considering the present outdoor environment of city landscapes, the improvement of well-formed street landscapes is a very important issue in Korea. At this point of time, it is very meaningful to understand the sign design and the planning condition of buildings and examine various problems about this and the possibilities for improvement. Thus the purpose of this study is to accumulate basic data to establish design guideline and visual factors for the sign design for useful environment. The conclusions of this study are as follows: to understand the factors of sign designs is through survey and analysis of building condition and city landscape. Planning factors for outdoor advertising design should be developed systematically and more fit to the street environment and designers in the aspect of control and guidance.

  • A vertical skin model with two detachable environmental chambers was developed to simulate a Human-Clothing-Environment system and to evaluate heat and moisture transport properties of textile materials under severe conditions and during transient states. The construction of the system was described and data reproducibility and accuracy of the instrument were verified by using PEG treated nonwovens. Also advantages over a traditional static type experiment were demonstrated based on a series of experiments.
