Development of the Railroad Geotechnical Information Management System Using Web GIS (웹 GIS 기반 철도 지반정보 관리프로그램의 개발)

  • Railroad geotechnical information management system was developed by using Web GIS and DB in this study. The standardization of railroad geotechnical information is progressed by classifying three groups as like basic informations, vibration informations along railway lines and design drawings. The basic informations consisted of basic and dynamic properties of soils, geophysical exploration and seismic survey/exploration. And the specification for 'human exposure to whole-body vibration' was adopted to construct the vibration informations along railway lines. The informations as like drawings and photographs were saved by changing to graphic files in the standardization of design drawings. In the case of standardization of geographical information, the topographical maps(NGIS, 1:5000) were primarily used as digital maps. Another digital maps(KRRI, 1:5000) and their geographical DB based on NGI code system were added on this maps. The standardized informations were used to construct their database. And railroad information management system was developed using Entity-Relation(ER) model which had a good feasibility for expansion and transition to other system in designing stage of database. This system consisted of layer selection, search and analysis of geotechnical informations and Zeus DB was adopted for GIS operating and user interface. This system could be a good tool for saving, searching and analyzing the geotechnical and geophysical informations. These DB systems would offered the basic informations to plans, design and construction of railroad lines etc. in practical use.

  • This paper deals with an automated forming sequence design system by which designers can determine desirable operation sequences even if they have little experience in the design of cold forging process. The forming sequence design in the cold forging is very important and requires many kinds of technical and empirical knowledge. They system isproposed, which generates forming sequence plans for the multistage cold forging of axisymmtrical solid products. Since the process of metal forming can be considered as a transformation of geometry, treatment of the geometry of the product is a key in planning process. To recognize the geometry of the product section, section entity representation and primitive geometries were used. Section entity representation can be used for the calculation of maximum diameter, maximum height, and volume. Forming sequence for the part can be determined by means of primitive geometries such as cylinder, cone, convex, and concave. By utilizing this geometrical characteristics (diameter, height, and radius), the product geometry is expressed by a list of the priitive geometries. Accordingly the forming sequence design is formulated as the search problem which starts with a billet geometry and finishes with a given product one. Using the developed system, the sequence drawing with all dimensions, which includes the proper sequence of operations for the part, is generated under the environment of AutoCAD. Based on the results of forming sequence, process variables(strain, punch pressure, die inner pressure, and forming load) are determined.

A method for metadata extraction from a collection of records using Named Entity Recognition in Natural Language Processing (자연어 처리의 개체명 인식을 통한 기록집합체의 메타데이터 추출 방안)

  • This pilot study explores a method of extracting metadata values and descriptions from records using named entity recognition (NER), a technique in natural language processing (NLP), a subfield of artificial intelligence. The study focuses on handwritten records from the Guro Industrial Complex, produced during the 1960s and 1970s, comprising approximately 1,200 pages and 80,000 words. After the preprocessing process of the records, which included digitization, the study employed a publicly available language API based on Google's Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) language model to recognize entity names within the text. As a result, 173 names of people and 314 of organizations and institutions were extracted from the Guro Industrial Complex's past records. These extracted entities are expected to serve as direct search terms for accessing the contents of the records. Furthermore, the study identified challenges that arose when applying the theoretical methodology of NLP to real-world records consisting of semistructured text. It also presents potential solutions and implications to consider when addressing these issues.

  • This study is to search an optimal model on causal relationships of the motivations to learn and motivation strategy in chemistry education. The participants in this study are consisted of G and I high schools students (487) in Gwangju. They all answered to the questionnaire. Model I is hypothesized to be path model of the mediation between 'self-efficacy, achievement need, and entity theory of intelligence' and 'learning strategy and self-handicapping tendency of motivation strategy' by goal orientation to explore variables of study effecting the motivation strategy. And Model II is hypothesized path model of the mediation between goal orientation and 'learning strategy and self-handicapping tendency' by 'self-efficacy, achievement need, and entity theory' to explore variables of study effecting the motivation strategy. Based on these models, structural equation modeling techniques are used to evaluate for the path model among goal orientation(learning, performance approach, and performance approach goal orientation), self-efficacy, achievement need, entity theory of intelligence, self-handicapping tendency, and learning strategy in chemistry education. As the results, Model II is considered. Goodness-of-fit indexes of this model related modification models are identified and analyzed in phases.   • In creative design, it is necessary to understand the characteristic of architectural design. In the world of design problem, a distinction can be made between those that are well-defined and those that are ill-defined. Well-defined problems are those for which the ends or goal, are already prescribed and apparent, their solution requires the provision of appropriate means. For ill-defined problems, on the other hand, both the ends and the means of solution are unknown at the outset of the problem solving exercise, at least in their entirety. Most of design problems is ill-defined, which is unknown at the beginning of the problem solving exercise. In order to solve the design problem, Designers take advantage of the search methods of problem space, such as global-search-methods(depth-first-methods, breath-first-methods), local-search-methods(generate and test, heuristics, hill-climbing, reasoning) and visual thinking, which is represented through sketching. Sketching is a real part of design reasoning and it does so through a special kind of visual imagery. Also in the design problem solving it have been an important means of problem exploration and solution generation. By sketching, they represent images held in the mind as well as makes graphic images which help generate mental images of entity that is being designed. The search methods of problem space and a visual thinking have been crucially considered in the architectural design. The purpose of this paper is to explore the property of design by means of the pre-existed-experiment data and literature research. The findings will help design the architectural design for more creative results.

Vocabulary Coverage Improvement for Embedded Continuous Speech Recognition Using Knowledgebase (지식베이스를 이용한 임베디드용 연속음성인식의 어휘 적용률 개선)

  • In this paper, we propose a vocabulary coverage improvement method for embedded continuous speech recognition (CSR) using knowledgebase. A vocabulary in CSR is normally derived from a word frequency list. Therefore, the vocabulary coverage is dependent on a corpus. In the previous research, we presented an improved way of vocabulary generation using part-of-speech (POS) tagged corpus. We analyzed all words paired with 101 among 152 POS tags and decided on a set of words which have to be included in vocabularies of any size. However, for the other 51 POS tags (e.g. nouns, verbs), the vocabulary inclusion of words paired with such POS tags are still based on word frequency counted on a corpus. In this paper, we propose a corpus independent word inclusion method for noun-, verb-, and named entity(NE)-related POS tags using knowledgebase. For noun-related POS tags, we generate synonym groups and analyze their relative importance using Google search. Then, we categorize verbs by lemma and analyze relative importance of each lemma from a pre-analyzed statistic for verbs. We determine the inclusion order of NEs through Google search. The proposed method shows better coverage for the test short message service (SMS) text corpus.

Myiasis Associated with Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma - A Literature Review

  • Advanced oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a possible risk factor for myiasis, a parasitic infestation of vital tissue of humans or other mammals by dipterous larvae (maggots). Oral myiasis is a rare entity, and is mostly associated with various medical and anatomical conditions, such as neglected mandibular fracture, lip incompetence, cerebral palsy, poor oral hygiene, suppurative lesions, and cancerous wounds. Larvae cause itching and irritation due to their crawling movements and can destroy vital tissues, inducing serious or even life-threating hemorrhage. The aim of the present article was to highlight the occurrence of oral myiasis in association with squamous cell carcinoma and also to highlight the treatment and preventive approaches for such cases. A literature search was performed using MEDLINE for articles published in English relating to the occurrence of oral myiasis in oral SCC. Our search revealed 6 reports on myiasis associated with oral SCC. The surgical debridement of infected tissue with the removal of maggots is the treatment of choice in most cases of oral myiasis.

A Study on Automatic Discovery and Summarization Method of Battlefield Situation Related Documents using Natural Language Processing and Collaborative Filtering (자연어 처리 및 협업 필터링 기반의 전장상황 관련 문서 자동탐색 및 요약 기법연구)

  • With the development of information and communication technology, the amount of information produced and shared in the battlefield and stored and managed in the system dramatically increased. This means that the amount of information which cansupport situational awareness and decision making of the commanders has increased, but on the other hand, it is also a factor that hinders rapid decision making by increasing the information overload on the commanders. To overcome this limitation, this study proposes a method to automatically search, select, and summarize documents that can help the commanders to understand the battlefield situation reports that he or she received. First, named entities are discovered from the battlefield situation report using a named entity recognition method. Second, the documents related to each named entity are discovered. Third, a language model and collaborative filtering are used to select the documents. At this time, the language model is used to calculate the similarity between the received report and the discovered documents, and collaborative filtering is used to reflect the commander's document reading history. Finally, sentences containing each named entity are selected from the documents and sorted. The experiment was carried out using academic papers since their characteristics are similar to military documents, and the validity of the proposed method was verified.

  • This article investigates the potentialities of using empirical variables and their associated statistical relationships in document representation and retrieval. To this end, a newly devised empirical fact retrieval system was evaluated in comparison to a simulated traditional retrieval system involving a set of predetermined empirical queries. Results indicate that the EFRS generally outperformed the TRS in terms of the precision, search effort, and measures of user satisfaction.

  • Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich (HWW) syndrome is a rare congenital malformation syndrome that is characterized by a triad of uterine didelphys, blind hemivagina, and ipsilateral renal agenesis. There is a wide variety of phenotypic presentation which is recognized as a spectrum of disease rather than a separate entity. The exact incidence and pathogenesis of HWW syndrome are yet to be investigated. While this disease typically involves adolescent girls who present with abdominal pain or a pelvic mass that is secondary to hematocolpos, nowadays, a majority of potential patients with HWW are being prenatally screened for renal anomalies. Therefore, it is recommended to search for uterovaginal anomalies whenever a multicystic dysplastic kidney or the absence of a kidney is noted in a newborn female, and the role of pediatric nephrologists has become ever more important for early recognition of the disease.
