Effect of Application of Ensemble Method on Machine Learning with Insufficient Training Set in Developing Automated English Essay Scoring System (영작문 자동채점 시스템 개발에서 학습데이터 부족 문제 해결을 위한 앙상블 기법 적용의 효과)

  • In order to train a supervised machine learning algorithm, it is necessary to have non-biased labels and a sufficient amount of training data. However, it is difficult to collect the required non-biased labels and a sufficient amount of training data to develop an automatic English Composition scoring system. In addition, an English writing assessment is carried out using a multi-faceted evaluation of the overall level of the answer. Therefore, it is difficult to choose an appropriate machine learning algorithm for such work. In this paper, we show that it is possible to alleviate these problems through ensemble learning. The results of the experiment indicate that the ensemble technique exhibited an overall performance that was better than that of other algorithms.

Development of Deep Learning Based Ensemble Land Cover Segmentation Algorithm Using Drone Aerial Images (드론 항공영상을 이용한 딥러닝 기반 앙상블 토지 피복 분할 알고리즘 개발)

  • In this study, a proposed ensemble learning technique aims to enhance the semantic segmentation performance of images captured by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). With the increasing use of UAVs in fields such as urban planning, there has been active development of techniques utilizing deep learning segmentation methods for land cover segmentation. The study suggests a method that utilizes prominent segmentation models, namely U-Net, DeepLabV3, and Fully Convolutional Network (FCN), to improve segmentation prediction performance. The proposed approach integrates training loss, validation accuracy, and class score of the three segmentation models to enhance overall prediction performance. The method was applied and evaluated on a land cover segmentation problem involving seven classes: buildings,roads, parking lots, fields, trees, empty spaces, and areas with unspecified labels, using images captured by UAVs. The performance of the ensemble model was evaluated by mean Intersection over Union (mIoU), and the results of comparing the proposed ensemble model with the three existing segmentation methods showed that mIoU performance was improved. Consequently, the study confirms that the proposed technique can enhance the performance of semantic segmentation models.

  • In the online marketplace, consumers are exposed to various products and freely express opinions. As consumer product reviews have a important effect on the success of online markets and other consumers, online market needs to accurately analyze the consumers' emotions about their products. Text mining, which is one of the data analysis techniques, can analyze the consumer's reviews on the products and efficiently manage the products. Previous studies have analyzed specific domains and less than 20,000 data, despite the different accuracy of the analysis results depending on the data domain and size. Further, there are few studies on additional factors that can improve the accuracy of analysis. This study analyzed 72,530 review data of food product domain that was not mainly covered in previous studies by using ensemble technique. We also examined the influence of summary review on improving accuracy of analysis. As a result of the study, this study found that Boosting ensemble technique has the highest accuracy of analysis. In addition, the summary review contributed to improving accuracy of the analysis.

  • In this paper, we propose a sentiment analysis model that improves performance on small-scale data. A sentiment analysis model for small-scale data is proposed and verified through experiments. To this end, we propose Bagging-Bi-GRU, which combines Bi-GRU, which learns GRU, which is a variant of LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory) with excellent performance on sequential data, in both directions and the bagging technique, which is one of the ensembles learning methods. In order to verify the performance of the proposed model, it is applied to small-scale data and large-scale data. And by comparing and analyzing it with the existing machine learning algorithm, Bi-GRU, it shows that the performance of the proposed model is improved not only for small data but also for large data.

  • With the recent increase in diabetes incidence worldwide, research has been conducted to predict diabetes through various machine learning and deep learning technologies. In this work, we present a model for predicting diabetes using machine learning techniques with German Frankfurt Hospital data. We apply outlier handling using Interquartile Range (IQR) techniques and Pearson correlation and compare model-specific diabetes prediction performance with Decision Tree, Random Forest, Knn (k-nearest neighbor), SVM (support vector machine), Bayesian Network, ensemble techniques XGBoost, Voting, and Stacking. As a result of the study, the XGBoost technique showed the best performance with 97% accuracy on top of the various scenarios. Therefore, this study is meaningful in that the model can be used to accurately predict and prevent diabetes prevalent in modern society.

Application of couple sparse coding ensemble on structural damage detection

  • A method is proposed to detect structural damages in the presence of damping using noisy data. This method uses Frequency Response Function (FRF) and Mode-Shapes as the input parameters for a system of Couple Sparse Coding (CSC) to study the healthy state of the structure. To obtain appropriate patterns of FRF for CSC training, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) technique is adopted to reduce the full-size FRF to overcome over-fitting and convergence problems in machine-learning training. To verify the proposed method, a numerical two-story frame structure is employed. A system of individual CSCs is trained with FRFs and mode-shapes, and then termed ensemble to detect the health condition of the structure. The results demonstrate that the proposed method is accurate in damage identification even in presence of up to 20% noisy data and 5% unconsidered damping ratio. Furthermore, it can be concluded that CSC ensemble is highly efficient to detect the location and the severity of damages in comparison to the individual CSC trained only with FRF data.

  • Vegetables such as cabbage are greatly affected by natural disasters, so price fluctuations increase due to disasters such as heavy rain and disease, which affects the farm economy. Various efforts have been made to predict the price of agricultural products to solve this problem, but it is difficult to predict extreme price prediction fluctuations. In this study, cabbage prices were analyzed using the ensemble Voting technique, a method of determining the final prediction results through various classifiers by combining a single classifier. In addition, the results were compared with LSTM, a time series analysis method, and XGBoost and RandomForest, a boosting technique. Daily data was used for price data, and weather information and price index that affect cabbage prices were used. As a result of the study, the RMSE value showing the difference between the actual value and the predicted value is about 236. It is expected that this study can be used to select other time series analysis research models such as predicting agricultural product prices

  • Accurately measuring location is necessary to provide a variety of services. The data for indoor positioning measures the RSSI values from the WiFi device through an application of a smartphone. The measured data becomes the raw data of machine learning. The feature data is the measured RSSI value, and the label is the name of the space for the measured position. For this purpose, the machine learning technique is to study a technique that predicts the exact location only with the WiFi signal by applying an efficient technique to classification. Ensemble is a technique for obtaining more accurate predictions through various models than one model, including backing and boosting. Among them, Boosting is a technique for adjusting the weight of a model through a modeling result based on sampled data, and there are various algorithms. This study uses Xgboost among the above techniques and evaluates performance with other ensemble techniques.

  • This paper proposes a technique to determine the spam comments on YouTube, which have recently seen tremendous growth. On YouTube, the spammers appeared to promote their channels or videos in popular videos or leave comments unrelated to the video, as it is possible to monetize through advertising. YouTube is running and operating its own spam blocking system, but still has failed to block them properly and efficiently. Therefore, we examined related studies on YouTube spam comment screening and conducted classification experiments with six different machine learning techniques (Decision tree, Logistic regression, Bernoulli Naive Bayes, Random Forest, Support vector machine with linear kernel, Support vector machine with Gaussian kernel) and ensemble model combining these techniques in the comment data from popular music videos - Psy, Katy Perry, LMFAO, Eminem and Shakira.

  • In this study, we have developed a forecasting model for city- gas acceptance. City-gas corporations have to report about city-gas sale volume next year to KOGAS. So it is a important thing to them. Factors influenced city-gas have differences corresponding to usage classification, however, in city-gas acceptence, it is hard to classificate. So we have considered tha outside temperature as factor that influence regardless of usage classification and the model development was carried out. ARIMA, one of the traditional time series analysis, and LSTM, a deep running technique, were used to construct forecasting models, and various Ensemble techniques were used to minimize the disadvantages of these two methods.Experiments and validation were conducted using data from JB Corp. from 2008 to 2018 for 11 years.The average of the error rate of the daily forecast was 0.48% for Ensemble LSTM, the average of the error rate of the monthly forecast was 2.46% for Ensemble LSTM, And the absolute value of the error rate is 5.24% for Ensemble LSTM.
