  • Statistical landslide susceptibility analysis, which is widely used among various landslide susceptibility analysis approaches, predicts the unstable area by analyzing statistical relationship between landslide occurrence locations and landslide controlling factors. However, uncertainties are involved in the procedures of the susceptibility analysis and therefore, fuzzy approach has been used to deal properly with uncertainties. The fuzzy approach used fuzzy set theory and fuzzy membership function to quantify uncertainties involved in landslide controlling factors. Various fuzzy approaches were suggested in the procedure of the membership value determination and fuzzy operation in the previous researches. However, few studies were carried out to compare the analysis results obtained from various approaches for membership function determination and fuzzy operation. Therefore, in this study, the authors selected Jinbu area, which a large number of landslides were occurred at in 2006, to apply two most commonly used methods, the frequency ratio and the cosine amplitude method to derive membership values for each controlling factor. In addition, the integration of different thematic layers to produce landslide susceptibility map was performed by several fuzzy operators such as AND, OR, algebraic product, algebraic sum and Gamma operator. The results of the landslide susceptibility analysis using two different methods for the determination of fuzzy membership values and various fuzzy operators were compared on the basis of ROC graph to check the feasibility of the fuzzy based landslide susceptibility analysis.

  • In the design conditions of some research reactors, the siphon phenomenon can cause continuous efflux of water during pipe rupture. A siphon breaker is a safety device that can prevent water efflux effectively. However, the analysis of the siphon breaking is complicated because many variables must be included in the calculation process. For this reason, a simulation program was developed with a user-friendly GUI to analyze the siphon breaking easily. The program was developed by MFC programming using Visual Studio 2012 in Windows 8. After saving the input parameters from a user, the program proceeds with three steps of calculation using fluid mechanics formulas. Bernoulli's equation is used to calculate the velocity, quantity, water level, undershooting, pressure, loss coefficient, and factors related to the two-phase flow. The Chisholm model is used to predict the results from a real-scale experiment. The simulation results are shown in a graph, through which a user can examine the total breaking situation. It is also possible to save all of the resulting data. The program allows a user to easily confirm the status of the siphon breaking and would be helpful in the design of siphon breakers.

  • A distributed constraint satisfaction problem (distributed CSP) is a constraint satisfaction problem(CSP) in which variables and constraints are distributed among multiple automated agents. ACSP is a problem to find a consistent assignment of values to variables. Even though the definition of a CSP is very simple, a surprisingly wide variety of AI problems can be formalized as CSPs. Similarly, various application problems in DAI (Distributed AI) that are concerned with finding a consistent combination of agent actions can be formalized as distributed CAPs. In recent years, many new backtracking algorithms for solving distributed CSPs have been proposed. But most of all, they have common drawbacks that the algorithm assumes the priority of agents is static. In this thesis, we establish a basic algorithm for solving distributed CSPs called dynamic priority search algorithm that is more efficient than common backtracking algorithms in which the priority order is static. In this algorithm, agents act asynchronously and concurrently based on their local knowledge without any global control, and have a flexible organization, in which the hierarchical order is changed dynamically, while the completeness of the algorithm is guaranteed. And we showed that the dynamic priority search algorithm can solve various problems, such as the distributed 200-queens problem, the distributed graph-coloring problem that common backtracking algorithm fails to solve within a reasonable amount of time. The experimental results on example problems show that this algorithm is by far more efficient than the backtracking algorithm, in which the priority order is static. The priority order represents a hierarchy of agent authority, i.e., the priority of decision-making. Therefore, these results imply that a flexible agent organization, in which the hierarchical order is changed dynamically, actually performs better than an organization in which the hierarchical order is static and rigid. Furthermore, we describe that the agent can be available to hold multiple variables in the searching scheme.

  • Wireless sensor network has merit of low-power, low-cost and self-organization network, so there are many researches substituted for existing wire network. As structure reinforcement work need a high accuracy, many sensors are installed in structure and connected with data logger for monitoring. However this wire data logger method takes a long time to install wires and installed wires obstruct to work. Additionally, wire data logger method represent sensor data by only numeric and graph, it is not able to support a rapid decision-making for working. To resolve wiring problem and support decision-making, we designed and implemented the monitoring system based in wireless sensor network. For verifying performance, accuracy and availability, we simulated and tested our system in real field. Consequently, wireless sensor network method is easier to install and deploy than wire data logger method, user is able to monitor instinctively and overall by 3D representation of structure and sensors, and it show not only accuracy but also performance for many sensors.

  • Valve in water distribution network (WDN), that controls the flow in pipes, is used to isolate a segment (a part of WDN) under abnormal water supply conditions (e.g., pipe breakage, water quality failure event). The segment isolation degrades pressure and water serviceability in neighboring area during the water service outage of the segment. Recent hydraulic and water quality failure events reported encouraging WDN valve installation based on various abnormal water supply scenarios. This study introduces a scenario-based optimal valve installation approach to optimize the number of valves, the amount of undelivered water, and a shortest water supply path indicator (i.e., Hydraulic Geodesic Index). The proposed approach is demonstrated in the valve installation of Pescara network, and the optimal valve sets are obtained under multiple scenarios and compared to the existing valve set. Pressure-driven analysis (PDA) scheme is used for a network hydraulic simulation. The optimal valve set derived from the proposed method has 19 fewer valves than the existing valve set in the network and the amount of undelivered water was also lower for the optimal valve set. Reducing the reservoir head requires a greater number of valves to achieve the similar functionality of the WDN with the optimal valve set of the original reservoir head. This study also compared the results of demand-driven analysis (DDA) and the PDA and confirmed that the latter is required for optimal valve installation.

  • Maintainability indicates the extent to which maintenance can be done easily and quickly. The consideration of maintainability is crucial to reduce the operation and support costs of weapon systems, but if the maintainability is evaluated after the prototype production is done and necessitates design changes, it may increase the cost and delay the schedule. The evaluation should verify whether maintenance work can be performed, and support the designers in developing a design to improve maintainability. In previous studies, the maintainability index was calculated using the graph theory at the early design phase, but evaluation accuracy appeared to be limited. Analyzing the methods of evaluating the maintainability using fuzzy logic and 3D modeling indicate that the design of a system with good maintainability should be done in an integrated manner during the whole system life cycle. This paper proposes a method to evaluate maintainability using SysML-based modeling and simulation technique and fuzzy logic. The physical design structure with maintainability attributes was modeled using SysML 'bdd' diagram, and the maintainability was represented by an AHP matrix for maintainability attributes. We then calculated the maintainability using AHP-based weighting calculation and fuzzy logic through the use of SysML 'par' diagram that incorporated MATLAB. The proposed maintainability model can be managed efficiently and consistently, and the state of system design and maintainability can be analyzed quantitatively, thereby improving design by early identifying the items with low maintainability.

  • The two-fluid model proposed by Herman and Prigogine is useful for analyzing macroscopic traffic flow in a network. The two-fluid model is used for analyzing a network through the relationship between the ratio of stopped vehicles and the average moving speed of the network, and the two-fluid model has also been applied in the urban transportation network where many signalized or unsignalized intersections existed. In general, the average travel speed and moving speed of a network decrease, and the ratio of stopped vehicles and low speed vehicles in network increase as the traffic demand increases. This study proposed the two-fluid model considering congested and uncongested traffic situations. The critical velocity and the weight factor for congested situation are calibrated by minimizing the root mean square error (RMSE). The critical speed of the Seoul network was about 34 kph, and the weight factor of the congestion on the network was about 0.61. In the proposed model, $R^2$ increased from 0.78 to 0.99 when compared to the existing model, suggesting that the proposed model can be applied in evaluating network performances or traffic signal operations.

  • Recently, according to environmental regulations, the automobile industry has been conducting various research on the use of composite materials to increase fuel efficiency. However, there has not been much research on lightweight chassis components. Therefore, in this research, the purpose of this study is to apply composite materials to the sub-frame of chassis components to achieve equivalent levels of stiffness, strength, NVH performance and 50% lightweight compared to the steel sub-frame. First, the Natural frequency of steel and composite specimens was compared to the damping characteristics of composite materials. Then, in this study, the Lay-up Sequence was derived to maximize the stiffness and strength of the sub-frame by applying composite materials. And this lay-up Sequence is proposed to avoid heat shrinkage due to curing during manufacturing. This process was designed based on a FEM structural analysis, and a Natural frequency and frequency response function graph was confirmed based on a modal analysis. The prototype type composite sub-frame was manufactured based on the design and the F.E.M analysis was verified through a modal experiment. Furthermore, it was fitted to the actual vehicle to verify the natural frequency and the indoor noise vibration response, including idling and road noise. This result was confirmed to be equivalent to the steel sub-frame. Finally, the composite sub-frame weight was confirmed to be about 50% of the steel sub-frame.

  • RDF is the base ontology model which is used in Semantic Web defined by W3C. OWL expands the RDF base model by providing various vocabularies for defining much more ontology relationships. Recently Jain and Farkas have suggested an RDF access control model based on RDF triple. Their research point is to introduce an authorization conflict problem by RDF inference which must be considered in RDF ontology data. Due to the problem, we cannot adopt XML access control model for RDF, although RDF is represented by XML. However, Jain and Farkas did not define the authorization propagation over the RDF upper/lower ontology concepts when an RDF authorization is specified. The reason why the authorization specification should be defined clearly is that finally, the authorizatin conflict is the problem between the authorization propagation in specifying an authorization and the authorization propagation in inferencing authorizations. In this article, first we define an RDF access authorization specification based on RDF triple in detail. Next, based on the definition, we analyze the authoriztion conflict problem by RDF inference in detail. Next, we briefly introduce a method which can quickly find an authorization conflict by using graph labeling techniques. This method is especially related with the subsumption relationship based inference. Finally, we present a comparison analysis with Jain and Farkas' study, and some experimental results showing the efficiency of the suggested conflict detection method.

  • Physical activities are decreasing and sitting time is increasing due to the automation, smartization, and intelligence of necessary household items throughout daily life. Recent healthcare studies have reported that the likelihood of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and early death increases in proportion to sitting time. In this paper, we develop a sitting posture correction cushion in real time using capacitive pressure sensor based on conductive textile. It develops a pressure sensor using conductive textile, a key component of the posture correction cushion, and develops a low power-based pressure measurement circuit. It provides a function to transmit sensor values measured in real time to smartphones using BLE short-range wireless communication on the posture correction cushion, and develops a mobile application to check the condition of the sitting posture through these sensor values. In the mobile app, you can visualize your sitting posture and check it in real time, and if you keep it in the wrong posture for a certain period of time, you can notify it through an alarm. In addition, it is possible to visualize the sitting time and posture accuracy in a graph. Through the correction cushion in this paper, we experiment with how effective it is to correct the user's posture by recognizing the user's sitting posture, and present differentiation and excellence compared to other product.
