  • Recently, the services using position information of moving objects is embossed. Theses services needs the moving objects databases to manage moving object data with efficiency. To build the moving object databases, we must develop the moving object engine to mange, store, and search the spatio temporal data of moving object. The moving object engine has to support query syntax to search data that suitable for user need like LBS, Telematics, ITS, vehicle management system. In this paper, we design and implement the moving object engine to support service with moving object data. The moving object engine is able to support system environment that users are able to get the moving object data easily even they don't know complex data structure.

  • The resilient mounts of a diesel engine installed onboard a ship should be designed for both static and dynamic loads. If possible, the resonance frequencies of the six rigid body modes of the installation and the flexible modes of the engine support structure should not lie within the engine operation range. In this paper a design criterion is proposed to evaluate an isolation system which involves the summation of dynamic forces transmitted through the resilient mounts and elastic potential energy index stored in the mounts. A case study is also presented in which a diesel engine generator, which had an elastic foundation and was mounted in a 5500 TEU container vessel, was studied both theoretically and experimentally. The theoretical analysis of the test model was performed by using a single mass 6 degree of freedom system. Actual measurements of mechanical vibration of the Engine and its foundation onboard were carried out, which showed the importance of including the flexibility of the engine support structure in the mode

Study on Fatigue Life Estimation for Aircraft Engine Support Structure (항공기 엔진 지지구조물의 피로수명 해석에 관한 연구)

  • The fatigue life is estimated while determining the reliability of aircraft structures. In this study, the estimation of fatigue life was carried out on the basis of a cumulative damage theory; the working S-N curve and the equivalent stress on the engine support structure significantly affect the safety of the aircraft. The maximum stress observed was 1,080 MPa in the case of scissors link under crash load condition, and there was a 5% margin for the allowable stress corresponding to the temperature reduction factor. The maximum stress was 876 MPa, and the stress equation coefficient had a maximum value of 0.019 MPa/N in the case of scissors link under fatigue loads. In the results of the fatigue life analysis, the safety life in a fretting area of scissors link upper part was 416,667 flight hour, and other parts showed to infinite life. Therefore, it was demonstrated that the fatigue life requirement of aircraft engine support structure (scissors link, straight link) could be satisfied.

  • Most real world design evaluation and risk-based decision support combine quantitative and qualitative (linguistic) variables. Decision making based on conventional mathematics that combines qualitative and quantitative concepts always exhibit difficulty in modelling actual problems. The successful selection process for choosing a design/procurement proposal is based on a high degree of technical integrity, safety levels and low costs in construction, corrective measures, maintenance, operation, inspection and preventive measures. In this paper, a design decision support framework using a composite structure methodology grounded in approximate reasoning approach and evidential reasoning method is suggested for design evaluation of machinery space of a ship engine room at the initial stages. An illustrative example is used to demonstrate the application of the proposed framework.

  • This paper presents the rocket motor support structure to position solid rocket engine within a missile fuselage. When the rocket motor is mounted inside a missile fuselage, fuselage structure must be designed to withstand various structural problems resulting from inserted rocket motor such as axial thrust force, shock/vibration, axial deformation of the rocket motor tank in addition to the flight loads. The motor support structure system proposed in this paper proved to be very simple and efficient while satisfying all the design requirements.

  • Recently it was reported that the vibration problems on the oil pipe support structure of the crude oil carrier were occurred. in order to investigate the vibration characteristics and the causes of the vibration occasionally. the vibration measurements and impact tests for the oil Pipe structure were carried out. From the measurement results severe vibration was caused by the resonance between the transversal natural frequency of the structure and $6^{th}$ order excitation force of the main engine. Providing the proper countermeasures a series of the vibration analyses were carried out based on the measurement results. From the analysis results, it was concluded that the vibration characteristics of the oil pipe structure were affected by the oil pipes, support structure itself, upper deck structure and the installation spaces and the standard design was established for the crude oil carriers.

  • Recently, the character recognization technique is strongly needed to enable the mobile communication devices with cameras to gather input information from the users. In general, it is not easy to reuse a CBOCR(Camera Based Optical Character Recognizer) module because of its dependency on a specific platform. In this paper, we propose a software architecture for CBOCR module providing the easy adaptability to various mobile communication platforms. The proposed architecture is composed of the platform dependency support layer, the interface layer, the engine support layer, and the engine layer. The engine layer adopts a plug-in data structure to support various hardware endian policies. We show the effectiveness of the proposed method by applying the architecture to a practical product.

However, the objectives of maximising the degree of technical performance, maximising the safety levels and minimising the costs incurred are usually in conflict, and the evaluation of the technical performance, safety and costs is always associated with uncertainties, especially for a novel system at the initial concept design stage. In this paper, a design-decision support framework using a composite structure methodology grounded in approximate reasoning approach and evidential reasoning method is suggested for design evaluation of machinery space of a ship engine room at the initial stages. It is a Multiple Attribute Decision-Making (MADM) or Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) framework, which provides a juxtaposition of cost, safety and technical performance of a system during evaluation to assist decision makers in selecting the winning design/procurement proposal that best satisfies the requirement in hand. An illustrative example is used to demonstrate the application of the proposed framework.

Transverse vibration reduction at navigation bridge deck of the shuttle tanker using structural intensity analysis (진동 인텐시티 해석을 통한 원유운반선의 거주구 횡방향 진동 저감 연구)

  • Structural intensity has been mainly utilized to identify vibration energy flow in a vessel. In this paper, the structural intensity of a shuttle tanker subjected to H-moment of the main engine was calculated using a finite element model. From the analysis, it was found that the top-bracing elements, which support the main engine onto the hull structure to prevent the excessive transverse vibration of the main engine, play the role of the dominant path and sink for vibration energy flow from the main engine. Therefore, the structural intensity was controlled by the modification of stiffness and damping characteristics of the top-bracing elements. As a result, it is observed that the transverse vibration level at the center of navigation bridge deck decreased after the control of structural intensity.
